    It's only a concern on Debian systems if you're on Sid. If you're on the stable release, you're fine. xz should be on 5.4.1, so no need to worry. If you are on Sid, however, be sure to update your systems due to a critical vulnerability, that being a backdoor.

    This exactly. Some people here are doomposting because it suits them. The servers aren't shutting down. The game isn't simply going away. On top of that, NONE of this was ArenaNet. This was NCSoft, their bosses. Hell, a friend of mine hazarded a guess that ArenaNet probably had no knowledge about any of this until we did. Pretty sure they were just as surprised as we were. NCSoft has pulled some bull in the past and this is no different. You all that are overreacting need to chill.

  3. Okay, I like some of the ideas in this thread to improve the scepter, but the one thing I want is...can we PLEASE turn down the visual effects on it? Like, WOW! It's so hard to see what something or someone is doing when they have Scepter 2 on them or the visual garbage of the auto attack. Plus, the huge tether. Please, please, PLEASE turn it down a tad!

  4. OP, if you want the true solo experience on champs, go to the fractal lobby by yourself. Summon the combat golem at any fractal level, which its difficulty scales based on which fractal you select, and fight that if you want to test out your mechanics. Best solution for you, it seems. And yes, it will fight back.

  5. You know, OP, I used to think like you. If I was soloing a boss and someone jumped in, they were the bad guy, but in reality, it was me. Sometimes I would even say something awful and upon reflection, I was a major bag for doing so. This game was designed to be cooperative. That's why there is no such thing as kill stealing here because it was designed to give people a reward for their contributions. Simply telling people not to help is not a healthy way to game. Trust me on this.

  6. It's happening to me a lot on SotO and IBS maps. Not sure what's going on, but yeah, it's getting to be very annoying. When people see that, their first instinct is to move instances, but that can be detrimental to a meta in progress. They think it might fail because there aren't enough people. The other day, I hopped into Bjora Marches to comm the Snowstorm meta and as soon as I threw up my tag, "There are few players...". I had JUST gotten there and there was another tag there from Drakkar. Not sure what they changed in the background, but it's not working as well as it should.

  7. I don't know what else I can add that others already have. It feels clunky, they way to get the barrier build up is just slow and awkward and then the payoff being probably too late to do any good and this is just for PvE. Forget competitive! I was really excited for Scepter and it did not do what I was hoping it would. The power on it and just awful. I tried pairing it with offhand Sword and Greatsword on a Vindicator and it won't beat Sw/Sw at all. Tried on quick Herald in case maybe it just needed some quickness. It didn't help it in the slightest. Wettest noodle on Revenant. I hope this all this feedback gets considered since it's VERY lackluster. Don't get me wrong. The barrier it applies is good, but how it's applied is not good. If you want barrier, go with Specter or Scourge. Was kinda hoping this would bring Heal Vindi or even Heal Herald into WvW and it doesn't seem to be the case. At least Shield was a win...

    This is exactly what I'm hoping for! Scepter/Shield + Staff with Alliance/Ventari or even Jalis/Ventari. Now if only they'd make tablet follow right on you like gyros...

  9. If I'm being honest here, I think the new relic system should be postponed until the legendary variant is ready so it can come out at the same time. This way we can continue to use the system we currently have, thus not having to make people craft exotic versions until they can work on the legendary relic and wasting their time. If you can't release the legendary relic until next year, just postpone the change until then.

    After a couple days now my main gripe with this iteration is the way quickness is applied. Sometimes immediately, sometimes after a while (which varies due to the 3s ticks), which makes it incredibly unresponsive and inconsistent to play.

    That kitten NEEDS to go, at least apply quickness immediately after your 6th pip comes up. Having it refresh every 3s is fine imho, but the initial unreliability is SUCH a pita. Thats just not cool ANet, have another look at this.

    They will be changing it to a 1 sec pulse with 1.25 seconds applied, so it will change to something a little quicker...no pun intended. lol

  11. My only feedback is for Shield. Put the cleanse on a core trait in Salvation somewhere since that would work best for it and allow Rev to move while using Shield 5 so they have a way of escaping trouble or helping their groups by staying alive in competitive modes so they can heal when they get bombed.

    Everything else was fine. My WvW guild still uses hammer for their comps and it seems to work fine, but it's still clunky. If it worked more like Guardian/Warrior Hammer, where it's a melee weapon or at least felt less clunky as a ranged weapon, it would be better, but that's more of a core Rev issue and not really related to this beta.

  12. This video I created real quick shows how with the new build, you can achieve perma-quickness on Herald without any Concentration or Boon Duration runes. My gear is full Berserkers with Scholar runes. The gameplay is not optimal by any stretch of the imagination, but basically it's a dead simple thing to get perma-Quickness on Herald while still dishing out DPS. You can even maintain it on any of the core Legends since each of them has a utility/elite utility that will drain your energy slowly enough to maintain it and allow you to still DPS/heal just fine. And yes, this can be done on any Herald build, be it Ventari healing, Mallyx condi or DPS on Jalis/Shiro. As long as you can do that negative energy uptime, quickness will pulse to you and your group. Enjoy!

    I usually solo almost all the HoT Champ HP's on a daily basis and if I see someone doing them and having some trouble, I'll usually jump in to help them get it done and pretty quickly. It's not difficult to ask for help and a lot of people will usually drop what they are doing and come over to help, whether they need it or not. Heck, some will even help new players get to the locations via various means so they don't have to do the work of getting masteries taken care of just to get to these HP's.

    I think it's a good mindset to ask for help when needed unless you know you can solo it without issue. Also, yeah, WvW/PvP are two other modes you can do to get HP's on alts. I have nearly 4k Testimonies saved up from doing a year's worth of WvW. If I want to make an alt and get them all their stuff instantly, I now have that option because ArenaNet has given me options to getting it done.

  14. It seems that Thief can somehow glitch their way into the inner part of a keep or tower without breaking down walls. Somehow they are portaling themselves inside. I noticed this tonight on Red BL. On top of that, the player was somehow able to leap off a very tall cliff in our territory and not die. This really needs to be looked into. This will allow them to take keeps without the necessary work involved in doing so.

  15. Can confirm on the UI issue of weapon skills not showing no energy. Kept dying trying to activate skills only to sit there like an idiot wondering why my skills weren't working. Then I noticed that even when you run out of initiative, the weapon skills are showing they can still be used. PLEASE fix this. It's hard enough to play a Thief fast paced and having to check your skills and movement, but now having to look at your initiative constantly to know for sure if you have enough to use a weapon skill? Come on!

  16. Okay, so the latest update fixed the issue, at least for me, with location #12 for the achieve in Seitung, thus being able to complete it. However, in doing the one in New Kaineng, #13 and #14 seem to be bugged. I tried to get them before reset today and they didn't register. I waited until after reset, tried again and both failed to register as being completed, after collecting the chests. Anyone else having this issue?

     

    For the record, they are Overlooking the entrance to a canal and Playing high above the towers near a shipwreck.

     

    EDIT:
    As of the latest update, still not working. Not sure what to do.
