It probably isn't an actual connection issue. Might be that proton-ge just isn't the proper runner for you. I'm using proton-experimental through Lutris (I refuse to run GW2 through Steam) and it's been, for the most part, a smooth experience. What are you running GW2 through? Steam? Lutris? Standalone? Also, what distro are you on?

Because it doesn't. When running the zerg, you want to go full tilt on damage or support. Being middle of the road won't produce downs fast enough or heal well enough to keep your party up. You made the correct choice.

Good luck trying to find support for your mishap. I just have to wonder why you thought that a key you probably knew was illegally obtained was okay to buy and use on your account and that you wouldn't be punished for it. I mean, come on. If you don't have the money to buy the expansions at the base price, it's best to save up for it instead of trying to obtain a key from an obviously shady site. It's not really all that expensive either.

Play the game!? NOOOO! /s Seriously though. Celestial is so easy to get these days, it's almost comical that crafting it is still timegated. Also, how much more could it be "improved"? Giving it a boost in numbers for stats? No thanks. It's already good as-is and the nerf in WvW is needed after so long. Really, it's just going back to the way it used to be and back then, people had to become better and make better builds. I see this as a win.

My favorite shortbow and very first legendary. Use it a lot nowadays on my Heal Scrapper in WvW. NEIGH! NEIGH! NEIGH!

On the GPU part, might wanna wait a bit. NVIDIA is currently working on a new implementation of their open-source drivers that they themselves are actually going to work on, like what AMD does with their current kernel drivers. Still, a 1080Ti is pretty old at this point, even if powerful. A newer GPU would certainly be handy. So, the decision rests with you.

Since changing distros isn't an option for me at this time, I guess I'll have to wait for an update on Debian Stable. That's fine. At least I have a clearer picture of what's going on. I can deal with this for the time being. Thanks for the insight!

Okay, I posted this back in May, but I said it was a non-issue at the time since it wasn't happening often, however, now it's really impacting my ability to heal and support in WvW, so I'm hoping someone has a solution. For context, I am on Debian Stable, KDE with Wayland. Running GW2 through Lutris on Proton Experiemental for the Wine version. If I'm playing the game, often times I can no longer click on anything in the UI. I can still press buttons and they work or move my camera around, but actually clicking on elements of the UI proves fruitless and the UI doesn't even recognize the mouse as parts of the UI that normally light up showing your mouse cursor hovering over it produce no results. The only fix for this, I've noticed, is alt-tabbing to something and quickly back to the game. Now, I am also on Windowed Fullscreen for seamless movement to a different window on my dual monitor set up. Any one else experience this and may know of a fix or am I the only one experiencing this?

That's what I've done. I play GW2 these days moderately. I log on for WvW with my WvW guild and do some content with a friend of mine. Other than that, I don't. I do other things to keep my mind occupied and it's been so nice to get out of the bubble.

Seems like you all are having texturing issues. One thing that might help is trying a different version of Proton, if you're using the Steam version or running the game through Lutris like I am. I'm running Proton Experimental through Lutris for it's Wine version and it's been working just fine. The only issue I've been having is my mouse not being able to click on the UI sometimes, but a quick alt-tab out and back in and it's working fine again. Non-issue for me right now. If you're not running on Steam or Lutris, try making sure you're using the latest version of Wine. If your distro has an older version, grab the one from Wine's repos and use that instead. Even on Debian Stable, I decided to grab the updated version of Wine because I wanted to game a bit better. If newer versions of Wine/Proton don't work for you, try using an older version. Sometimes older versions land on that sweet spot for your system while newer versions would break things and cause issues, like that.

Not sure what you're experiencing, but mine has felt the exact same. No difference whatsoever. King Toad kill and Storm Wizard kill was easy on Normal, same as usual. Character run speeds differ in there a lot sometimes and it's something you get used to or simply try again if you miss a jump. Or try dodge jumping to help mitigate the issue.

It's only a concern on Debian systems if you're on Sid. If you're on the stable release, you're fine. xz should be on 5.4.1, so no need to worry. If you are on Sid, however, be sure to update your systems due to a critical vulnerability, that being a backdoor.

This exactly. Some people here are doomposting because it suits them. The servers aren't shutting down. The game isn't simply going away. On top of that, NONE of this was ArenaNet. This was NCSoft, their bosses. Hell, a friend of mine hazarded a guess that ArenaNet probably had no knowledge about any of this until we did. Pretty sure they were just as surprised as we were. NCSoft has pulled some bull in the past and this is no different. You all that are overreacting need to chill.
