  1. All good points. However, I don't consider staff the "go to" support weapon. Dagger/focus(dagger or warhorn) are better options for support IMO (more auras, combo finishers, etc). I dabble in WvW/PvP since I came back but I would say my post is more geared to PvE play. In retrospect maybe I should of made that more clear. Scrapper still obliterates support tempest in every angle.. besides auras. They bring more boons, heals, cleanses and superspeed while also bringing stealth. I think that scrapper is fine and the emphasis should be on bringing up less desired, underwhelming specializations rather than nerfing specializations that seem to be performing well and generating fun. I find auras are fun to play with and unique as they cannot be stripped. Maybe we should be talking about making auras more desirable and in turn would make tempest more desirable? For example, just spit balling here, rework a trait to something like the below options: "Auras now additionally grant boons based on the aura. Fire aura grants X stacks of might, Shock aura grants X amount of quickness, Magnetic aura grants X amount of protection, Frost aura grants X amount of resolution... etc.." "Auras now stack in duration (like back in 2015). Whenever applying an aura, also apply alacrity" I'm not sure what the path forward is but based on my experience coming back and playing with a lot of the new specializations Tempest and Elementalist in general feels lackluster. While playing Elementalist I often ask myself "why am I playing this" besides the fact that it was my first character and I just have a biased love towards Elementalist.
  2. Some context, I am a returning player. Took an extended break shortly after PoF launched. Tempest is still my favorite Elementalist specialization. Warhorn is fun to use, build variations are fun to play. Overloads are fun to use. It lacks that one "thing" every support class has in the "meta", Quickness or Alacrity. It also lacks competitive damage output for non-support variations. I would say throwing alacrity onto the Invigorating Torrents master major trait in the PvE game mode would make a great step forward in bringing tempest back into the scene. Monitor it for a month or so. Circle back and make a decision on how to move forward with WvW/PvE game modes in terms of giving Tempest alacrity in these game modes. As for making it competitive in full damage builds I would say to simply increase the damage % bonus from the grandmaster major trait Transcendent Tempest. I'd like to see Tempest viable and competitive, not necessarily over powered and unfairly at an advantage. My suggestions are purely based off how other classes/specializations perform in comparison to Tempest/Elementalist in general. I want to emphasize that I think Tempest only needs to have its output worked on. The way it plays, flows and feels doesn't need to touched. Other thoughts: Balance staff and bring up its damage by about 15-20%. Do this without increasing the damage of meteor and other abilities that contribute to more damage in large vs small hitbox. 15-20% sounds like a lot because that's how poor staff performs compared to other weapons in PvE. Obviously meteor is strongly used still in WvW and that's why I think you should focus on increasing staff output without touching abilities like Meteor. It's a feat of strength to do over 32k DPS with a staff on a normal size hitbox with ANY Elementalist specialization. Keep making progress on Catalyst. The last update made solid improvements IMO, however there are still some things to be improved on. I'm not sure how well this would be received but what about updating Spectacular Sphere major trait so that it reads and functions as "Your Jade Sphere grants a boon to nearby allies based on your current attunement when activated. Your Jade Sphere now also follows you." I myself am not 100% sure I want this and would want to see how it played before committing fully to this idea. The idea of the combo field following you with the pulsing boons sounds like it could be fun to play with and add some variation to possible playstyles of Catalyst. Thanks for you time 😁
