  1. Stop thanking ArenaNet for profiting from you.

"Thank you for letting us buy your new gem store skin, ANet!"

"Thank you for giving us free Macaw, which you benefit from by appearing ethical and also incentivizing people to look at the gem store for potential other purchases!"

    P2W had an original definition.

No, it didn't. That's like saying there's a standard definition for 'hipster'... Everyone just generalizes. Also, "had" is past tense. Words evolve over time, you know....

In a truly pay to win game, there was no choice.

You've clearly not played other P2W games. Of course there's a choice in P2W, you can choose to progress at a snail's pace or save hundreds of hours of grind with a few dollars.

It's clearly not a lore-breaking cat suit, but it's still plain and removes hairs... At that price, we would expect more

I don’t find it “plain” and you guys pick the one helmet that looks fine with no hair to talk about the issue of hairless helms?! (It looks inspired by nun and Muslim scarves, where hair is supposed to be covered.) Just what I’d expect from you guys…

  4. Hi, I've been playing on and off since release. I am obsessed with art and fashion in gaming, so yes, I'm concerned about looks. Not saying I'm a fashion model, but hey.

My music taste is better than yours.

Anyway, I'm pretentious but also awkward, which probably bugs people. Not into that hurting you kitten. Which is why I'm guildless. If you know what's up, hmu.

Any new method, short of giving them out for free, will be an effort for new players. Your earlier suggestion of some kind of currency that could be spent for the notaries for example, new players won't have an excess of any currency, they'll have to spend time to gain that. To get ahead in the game, you'll have to play the game, no new system they might introduce will change that.

You CAN'T play the game in newer zones without using old builds. Half-filled templates don't kill hero point bosses. So it becomes an artificial treadmill, which is counter to what is advertised as "horizontal progression."

  6. Very meaty and gutsy post. New "baddies" look delightfully evil! My only issue is that new armor skins will be locked behind... collections *sigh*. I'm tired of playing the wiki game.

Also, I hope the oni don't sneak up on you while you're afk. Just standing still and taking a breather on newer maps is difficult enough. All this would do is force you to mount up and hover on your skyscale every time you want to sip your coffee.

  7. I don't even remember what happened thus far... people were sick... and stuff. Either the story is uninteresting or the patches are too far apart.

    1. You are not making the arguments you think you are.

    2. Yes, the value of a minority is not the same as the value of a majority. Just ask a scale. 😉

Look at elections: we go with the majority vote, not the minority one. Music that sells the most ends up in the charts, not music that barely sells. Now you can have your opinion on that system and whatever ends up in the majority/popular group, but it is just that: an opinion. Based on this thread yours seems to be the minority opinion. That doesn't devalue the opinion in and of itself, but it does influence its place in the grand scheme of things.

While your opinions are perfectly valid from your personal perspective without any addition, statements need proof to stand up to scrutiny. So I'm still waiting for those numbers of people leaving GW2 after a short time to go back to their preferred MMO. That also requires the total number of people who started playing GW2, so we know what percentage of people actually leave and what percentage stays. Until then, it's just blanket statement.

Elections are not art, nor subjective. What a silly analogy.

If the quality was bad it would reflect in the number of people playing the game. Unless you are saying that lots of people deliberately choose to play bad quality games. Also, when it comes to entertainment and art, quality is not objective. So when you describe something of good or bad quality it's not a metric everyone else has to abide by. It's personal. Since GW2 doesn't have a subscription model and they still make enough money more than a decade later to develop new content (micro transactions being a major part of that revenue) it would seem your position is not shared among the majority of GW2 players, another signifier that the quality you speak of is neither objective nor absolute.

N*Sync was a lucrative band, does that mean their music was of superior quality?

Furthermore, you argue about the subjectivity of quality while at the same time pointing out that my position is in the minority - not just different, but in the smaller percentile - as if that diminishes its value somehow.
