According to follow up statement after investor meetings "Guild Wars 3 project has not yet cleared review stage, and the start of development is not yet finalized".

Means someone is still writing the description.

As long as GW2 can be kept 'alive' to the extent of the original GW, zero complaints from me. I play the vast majority of GW2 solo anyways, although I have to admit I'll miss giant meta events from time to time. As for whether or not I'd dive into GW3, at this point it would have to be pretty impressive to get my money.

I'm kind of bored with GW2; GW3 might be a welcome change. Or not. Honestly, I'd love to see it with the quality and complexity of HoT, but that's a kitten-load of work.

And that's why some suggestions to change it for the overall good. I am pretty sure mesmers would be more then pleased for an extra elite option that is working nicely and not something like that

Nope. I play a mesmer (not as often as I'd like), and it's a fine class. I get stomped in WvW real quick. What's the issue?

I totally understand. IMHO the personal story gets awfully boring after the 'personal' part is over. Mainly because it is centered around a bunch of characters I couldn't care less about (that includes you, Trahearne!) and features very repetitive gameplay. The latter at least gets a little better in living world season 1 and storytelling does improves noticeably in Heart of Thorns. The characters are still not likable but the pacing is actually pretty good and I found myself looking forward for the next bit.

Rule #1: Make the characters likable. If the players don't like them, they won't care. If they don't care, they may quit.

Rule #2: Avoid cliches like you'd avoid an out-of-control ocean liner.

Rule #3: Monty Haul RPGs have a reputation for a reason. REWARD must be matched by RISK.

I agree with many; the story is badly written. There are good spots, but far too many bad ones to gloss over.

Personally, I liked the HoT MAPS. Very different. Mazes on 4 levels. But that's me. YMMV.

Short answer: Yes, you ABSOLUTELY can play and enjoy the game without playing through the story for the most part.
I have a friend who exclusively plays wvw and has a profound hatred of pve. So - it definitely is possible to play and still enjoy the game without doing the story!

However: Certain rewards and unlocking certain things are directly linked with playing through the story. Also whether we like it or not, the story helps give context for what is happening in each chapter. Playing through the story at least once is probably a good idea.

I like WvW, but not that much! (although it's close; I do PVE to get achievements, mostly; if I could get so many in WvW, I'd not bother with PvE, either)

Guardians don't have a pet but can be quite resilient.

I started with Guardian and loved it. Next was ele. and then Mesmer. Nowadays, I've played 'em all, and my three faves are Guardian (Firebrand), Ele (Weaver), and Ranger (Soulbeast).

There are plenty of ways to earn gold.  It just depends on what you want to do.  Open world metas and bosses like ley anomly or octovine are quick and easy loot.  Instanced events like dragonstorm or convergences.  Organized group content like fractals, raids, and strikes.  It's only a grind if you make it into one.  If you just mix it up and do all of these things you'll earn gold just playing the game.

Ley anomaly pays 1, right? And tequatl pays 1, doesn't it? Plenty of ways, as you say. Just be persistent. Kittens, even the wizard's vault can give gold.

I got a new desktop computer, monitor and all, but every time I log into GW2 on it, I have to reset the graphics settings. Anyone know why or how I can fix it?

More info, please. Why do you need to reset the graphics settings? WHICH graphics settings? In-game. or on the PC?

  9. My guild's members somehow are on different teams in wvw. I'm on one, and at least two are on another. Currently, I'm on Giant's Rise, and 2others are on Seven Pines. Those teams are in completely different kittening matchups. What the kitten is going on? I thot the beta was to test alliances, and alliances are to replace servers, right? So a guild's members should all be on the same team, right?

On #3, if an higher up cancels then the option should disappear from anyone lower than them... ie: Guild "Lieutenant" automatically removes those below them in "chain-of-command".  I still like the idea.

I would say that there is a 4th option that could be available: If you own a keep on the map, you do not get notified for a tower or camp.  That would help remove the guilds that already own higher up stuff from the queue, and may be easier to implement instead of #2 and #3 😀.

    I agree with those points.

I don't think its random, its actually kind of hard to program random truth to tell. I think one of the more interesting ways have seen is adding in barometric pressure into the calculation to come up with a random number. Not sure I completely agree with wiki either being just pure numbers of guild members at the objective. I think its more of a mix. Members of a group yes, but counting those that have claim rights and activity at the objective over a set of time and not just that take. I say that since I have seen five of us with claim rights get an option to take an objective while there was 20 others of another guild at the same capture and we received first option to claim. That might support the random idea, but have also seen times where there is only 1 guild in list while there are a mix of guilds in the same cap. Hence why I think it only counts those that have the option to claim present.

Yeah, but 1 hit can give the option to claim. There should be a minimum, I think. Not sure what that should be, or how healing damage would count. Or how increasing combat effectiveness of others should count. That they should, I have no doubt.

    Here's feedback.  Fix staff.

It doesn't work because damage is 10,000x more important than utility and support in generalized play, and fire is the only attunement with reasonable damage output. Water, Air, and Earth are all over-specialized around different kinds of utility/support and give up too much damage to feel good playing 99% of the time, effectively becoming trap options.

Because each attunement is over-specialized and designed with a very specific build in mind, and 3 out of 4 of them only have the potential to work well in large, organized group play, Staff ele ends up with much less versatility than weapon swapping provides to other classes. It's astonishing how poorly thought out and executed it is.  Like, why is it even necessary to gut the damage so much for a healing spec? The use different stats and traits so it's not like you can be great at both at the same time anyway. Water should do 75-80% of Fire's damage, not 20-25%. It's astonishingly bad design.

It's be nice if we could encase someone in a water bubble so their weapon choice MUST change  (and those who skipped an upgrade to their underwater breather will suffer an armor penalty).

  13. Well... I've been playing WvW for a while, and i still get killed. usually by a group, but often enough by a single player. It happens. War is never pretty (tho some strategies are elegant), and Anet nailed that bit pretty accurately.  I enjoyrunning with the right zerg (and they ARE different), and I like small-group roaming. Solo roaming? That's for masochists.

I love the wizard's vault, the new dailies, the weeklies.

I love the maps! I mean, wow, the new maps are pretty cool! We get to fly around sky islands and a big, really cool wizard's tower!!

Oh, also, new mount masteries?? I'm having so much fun flying through updrafts with my skyscale and griffon, I can't wait to get ley-line riding for them!!

The rifts are a super cool new feature, and I think I've figured out motivations.

Please, everyone, if you like the expansion too, leave positive feedback. If a developer only sees negative feedback, they are more prone to changing functional features.

I LIKE THE MAPS. i DISLIKE SOTO IN GENERAL. IT FEELS MORE LIKE A LIVING WORLD SEASON THAN AN EXPANSION. THAT'S MY NUMBER ONE CRITICISM OF IT. IT JUST DOESN'T FEEL THE WAY IT SHOULD. I CAN'T BE MORE SPECIFIC; I HAVEN'T TRACED THAT FEELING BACK TO ITS ROOTS.

  15. There can be good reasons to get a laptop. Space, travel, and versatility are 3 that come to mind. I've gotten 2 in th last 2 years, and while they do heat a bit, I took care of that with an inexpensive laptop cooler (Amazon is a great source for those).
