i guess this is here to force people to group/rely on new support builds to save the day...but that does nothing for solo players. i mean barely anyone plays support in open world b/c a) you can't kill anything b) it's next to impossible to get credit for kills/events b/c dps is non existant. c) you are reliant on other people to kill things but if no ones around it's useless. so in the end, i guess they just want to nerf solo players for um...reasons? blah.

i love the new build/gear tabs! it's great. what is not so great is the price to unlock more tabs which to me costs way to many gems especially since they are character specific and not account wide. it's cheaper to buy/reroll a new char for more build tabs than it is to pay for them on an existing char which makes no sense.

Well, there are already reward tracks for PvE: Map bonus rewards, but with other items.
i meant more like the wvw one where you get to choose a track from a list.
edit. w/e. i just wvw for xmute charges since that's the easiest imo. just follow a tag, hit doors, and profit. lol!

what if there was reward tracks in open world pve like wvw? you could have one that rewards xmute charges for example, thus making a proper pve route instead of being forced to pvp for them. wouldn't that be cool? idk.

i just followed around a tag in wvw for a few weeks for transmutation charges, it's easy and super brainless as long as your team isn't getting totally destroyed that is. now i have more than i will ever need so no need to go back. 🙂

since strikes are being pushed heavily next expansion, i think it's about time anet added an official dps meter to the game so that players can train their rotations without having to rely on third party mod makers. it's clear that anet is ok with dps meters/won't do anything about them so why not just make it a part of the client instead.

wait, ele has a ranged spec? i haven't used my staff in a long time, melee builds are just way better. heck, GW2 on a whole is melee heavy for all profs, all 8 of my chars are melee based which is quite frankly pretty boring meta tbh. i hope they rework staff one of these days, sigh.

infinite horizon staff/staff mirage can pretty much do it all and it's my go to prof if i want to solo open world stuff in general. it's tanky, has good sustain, does ok dps, and is easy to play. plus if you swap to axe/pistol-torch, you can do some pretty good dps too. just an all around great build imo.

this still hasn't been fixed: the slingshot skin makes no sound what so ever!
😞

some of my humble suggestions:
- swap f5 and skill 3
- increase well energy gain
- increase well duration
- make wells follow the ele
- increase well size
- shorten earth 2s channel
- shorten air 2s channel
- put bleed damage on earth 1
- increase bleed damage on earth 2
- increase bleed damage on earth 5
- increase duration of the spinning orbs or make them last until grand finale is used
- make water 5 a whirl finisher
- make hardened auras/empowered aura traits easier to proc/maintain
- make empowerment traits easier to proc/maintain
- increase burning damage on 4 or make it a field(?)
edit1. obviously, power damage has to be tuned down a bit to compensate for increases in condi effectiveness: i'd like to see a balance where power and condi builds can both be viable options. right now, only power is far as i can tell. also, all these suggestions might make catalyst super OP so take them with a grain of salt: i am no numbers guy. lol!
edit2. in it's current state, i would only unlock catalyst for the achievement and then go back to tempest/weaver. i really dislike super complex piano rotations: catalyst makes condi weaver look easy which is insane to me. also keep in mind that those 44k+ bench marks floating around are on a stationary target so the chance you can replicate this amount of damage in a moving fight is going to be very hard to do.

to clunky for me.
this elite very disappointing.

it's strange. when i first played ele in beta, i loved the staff. so i mained staff ele for 3 years. then they started nerfing it to the point i don't use the staff no more. all my builds are melee base. ie power sword/dagger weaver and condi dagger/warhorn tempest. the only times i use staff is when it's a boss like the karka queen, other than that i only melee with my ele. all i can say is, i really hope they do something with staff, it used to be awesome but now i use it to hang my coats off of. 😉

i was worried it was going to be just another boring melee spec but i was pleasantly surprised after watching the stream. it looks fun to play. i can't wait to test it!

i was really hoping for a ranged elite spec...but it's another melee weapon...for the squishiest prof in game.
boo!

i'd go marauder: zerker gear makes you super squishy, you have to be god skilled to not get downed alot. marauders will give you breathing room to make a mistake or two while still putting out decent dps.
-
all i can say is, i detest piano specs where you have to learn a 20+ step rotation that needs to be 100% perfect or you suck. it's one main reasons why i can't get any of my wow friends to even play this game: the rotations can be so convoluted it's just not fun. at all. people say, oh you have to have complex rotations to justify it to be a top build and i say: why can't it be a bit easier and fun? i mean i see no one complaining about DD where all i have to do is AA and hit bound now and then yet mirage does it and it's wrong? nerf staff into the gutter: i'll still play it over axe no matter what so w/e.

i only play open world b/c it's usually fun and social. from following tags or just randomly hooking up with others when an event happen is the best. people are friendly and chat. wow on the other hand, people are just down right nasty to one another. i mean i am playing tbc and even my own faction is hella mean to one another. this is why no one talks in pugs in wow. it's lame. gw2 is the most social mmo i play. /shrug
w/e just like to comment on that LFG ui GW2 has: most worthless tool ever. there is no more than 10 groups in that thing yet there is a million tabs. maybe a revamp is needed? idk.

i played beta heavily and tried various profs until i tried ele: i fell in love with it due to the play style. so i mained a cleric geared asura ele up until hot b/c out of all the profs, it was the most fun to play. also, i was poor/refused to buy gold with rl cash so i couldn't afford to play anything else lol.
-
imo, leave open world alone: you all have cms, strike missions, and raids to be elitist in so why ruin something everyone, no matter their skill/gear level should be able to enjoy? next people are going to suggest a min dps of 20k to get credit for open world stuff. /eyeroll.

Oh wow, you bought gold. Yay. Not like you can buy ascended gear with that.
uh, you can easily buy all the ascended mats off the bltc to make armors and weapons with gold/RL cash...i know this b/c i made 2 complete sets this week and it literally took me 10 minutes and a few hundred gold to do it: zero farming or grind needed. win?

i have played off and on since beta: i don't have a legendary and never will. legendarys are for rich people (in game and out) far as i am concerned. but that's ok, ascended crafted gear is good enough for me.

So its pay to not play?
pretty much...play 100 hours for 500g in SW or buy it for 1 hour of work. no wonder people choose the latter.

Todays nerfs prove that Anet DESPISES Solo Players
in Professions

i have been playing since beta and you know what? I have NEVER needed those things to play GW2.
so why now? hmm?
i just love playing open world content tbh and since i don't play at prime times, it's usually alone. but i have always accepted that. problem is, they destroyed most if not all of the sustain builds in one fell swoop for no real good reason and that is the problem i have with this.
