  1. No.

The game would need to be run/designed by a company that doesn't abandon half of their ideas when they don't work out and take ages to adjust broken parts of the game; lazy and poorly executed approaches to balancing the game between all modes. Lack of progress and inconsistent content releases are another massive problem.

If ANET wasn't behind a potential GW3, I might have said yes.

    • In case you enabled it when asked for it after the last Win 10 update: DISable the option that prevents notifications from showing while you play fullscreen games (clicking the notification symbol in the lower right corner of your screen while having a game open should give you the option directly)
    • Go to the folder containing your GW2 executable, right-click the GW2 EXE file (presumably the 64-bit one for most people), go to properties -> compatibility, and check "disable fullscreen optimization"

I hope this helps some of you getting rid of the flashing to desktop (or at least improve it)...

I tried this just now, checking disable fullscreen optimization does nothing to help. The notifications option did not help either as every time I restarted the application the focus assist settings would go from off, back to priority only. This did however lead to a "fix".

I had originally disabled focus assist in the windows settings, but had left other tabs turned on within the settings (see screenshot/attachment). After also disabling the "During these times", "When I'm duplicating my display", and "When I'm playing a game" options, I no longer dropout to desktop for more than a quarter of a second at best. Not entirely fixed but I went from waiting 5-10 seconds at the desktop and flashing in and out, to a quick .25 sec flash back into the loading screen and or the map already.

We have the min specs ( https://help.guildwars2.com/hc/en-us/articles/201862958-Minimum-System-Requirements ) but that doesn't help me much. I've recently tried running on LOW settings rather than AutoDetect, mainly because even outside of the main cities out in the desert in PoF, the FPS was beyond horrible. Thing is, the game looks like garbage at LOW settings.

So I need to know if it is time I upgrade my computer (that plays Fallout 4 at Ultra setting and had no trouble playing WoW Legion btw), or if that won't have any impact, it's better I just hit uninstall on GW2 and walk away before I've invested any more time into a poorly optimized game.

Do yourself a favor and walk away. There have been complaints about poor optimization since year one of GW2, they don't have the time and money to invest into improving the engine with a dwindling player base.

I recently came back to try the new LS release, however disappointing it was, and I was sad to see how awful this game runs. My computer is way above what should be necessary to max this game (Vega 64 and 7800x @ 4.6), and yet I still find myself dropping into the 30s and 40s in all of the new maps. Nothing can be done save GW3 on an entirely new engine/api.
