Probably only then will we be able to say to Anet ''well done'' or ''I told you so''.

The breaking of Worlds is going to cost them players. From my experience, when Guilds or just their leads get restless enough to transfer, they begin shedding players and soon implode. I already hear a lot of Guilds/Tags/Players expressing that they're "going their own way". That kind of isolationism is going to cause a loss of connection and interest. Which will cause a shedding players.

I believe Anet knows this and welcomes it. That they've been convinced by others that new players and higher turnover is more lucrative than player retention. It's the only thing that makes sense of what they are doing.

The amount of guilds that has been created, died or reformed can probably be counted in the thousands yet WvW remains.

It remains because WORLDS was and will always be far superior for building communities. When people join a World they had a right to be there and play as they wished, when they wished. That kind of agency and autonomy is why the mode has lasted for 12 years.

Giving the power over where we can play to a handful of players and devs is an incredibly bad decision. Add that to all the nerfs to defense and many are going to realize we're being setup as cannon fodder for a few rabid guild tags. Many of us will be smart enough to simply stop engaging with WvW. Or, pip farming is going to be new norm.

  3. "Why wouldn't I choose the GOAT two time NA Heavyweight Tournament Champion server?"

If you want to pick the GOAT, then it's Jade Quarry!
    2nd place in Season 1
    1st place in Season 2

I still have 249 Golden Dolyak Finishers from it! 😁👍

So, I'd vote for Jade Quarry as the all time greatest WvW world.
In spite of the dev's bias against us.

    Why do YOU play WvW?

At this point it's irrelevant as the Dev's are nuking the mode. Because if there's no World, then there's no community.

The modes going to go the way of the dodo like EotM.

If they want us to stop playing this mode of the game, they should just tell us.

They just did with this patch. They want WvW players out and GvG (Boonball) players in.
World Restructuring shares the same goal.

so my only conclusion is that they are basing these changes on incomplete or flawed data.

The only Dev interaction with players I've seen or heard is directly with large guild tags. That's why everything they do is biased toward a 50 man boonball to log in, face roll, log out. World Restructuring itself is evidence of this design bias.

You'll never see a Dev asking for feedback from regular World vs World players. Certainly not roamers, scouts, and those of us who upgrade, defend, and do all the small things that make WvW run. They view us are cannon fodder and it's why the modes pug population is going to rapidly deteriorate.

  7. For me, every change the Dev's make of late seem to say, "we don't want you as a customer". They seem to want a high churn of new players in and the OG players out. Especially as a WvW player and someone with multiple accounts ranging from 18k-32k AP. Now after 12 years they want to destroy our worlds and changed the rules on using multiple accounts.

    They want OG players out.

  8. I'd much rather see tiers removed entirely. Place all the Worlds in one large match across the same number of maps that exist presently. For NA simply place options 1, 2, 3, 4 next to the map name. Aggregating the scoring system shouldn't be difficult either. "Winning" would be irrelevant as the scoring system would simply be a reward modifier of higher score more pips like it is now.

You'll find that we'll log in, aggregate to a few map to find fights, and love it!!!! Those who want to hit paper gates will be able to do so to their hearts content on all the other maps too. K-Trains and other forms of organizing that was lost long ago might even return. This can all be done while preserving Worlds and our existing communities.

Simple solutions are usually the best ones. The convoluted mess of alliances and world restructuring continues to be the wrong direction imho.

Skill, are you being ironic? When you see boon blobs from certain german servers being immortal... it's time to adjust the boonball. Because 90% of those players are nowhere near skilled.

Tactics, placement, map politics, etc should be considered the more skillful players.

Let's not lose sight on gear being a big difference too. Players in full Legendary can easy adapt in real time. They can also easily test builds when updates drop. Those players needing to craft new ascended gear and swap runes/sigils will always be lagging behind. We can see the drastic changes or screw ups in the meta the past week in WvW.

Cele only became super powerful after they added 50% boon duration

Cele has been around for a decade and was a trash set outside of a couple Ele and Engi builds who could take advantage of it. Cele is only a problem of late because of balance changes that allows builds to take advantage of the all stats. It's not the stats, it's the balance changes. Nerf bat the problems, not the stats.

  11. Leave gear stats alone. The problem is that the dev's created too much access to strike and condi damage, especially on the same weapon and utility skill.

They changed their philosophy of having specific rolls to every profession can do everything. That's why cele, the everything stat, has become too powerful.

Ele, Harbinger, and Willbender skills just need to be nerf batted hard. Not that gear stats themselves.

The guild I am in are mostly on Sea of Sorrows, which is full so I cannot transfer and opens up for new members very infrequently.

So the real problem is, and I've been saying this for years, is the dev's keep worlds locked.

I can't wait for this beta to finally end so we can have our worlds back. Next we have to get the dev's to allow more transfers. Freedom of movement is essential to human happiness.

See that why WORLDS, open ones, is a better solution. Because if that's what your guild faces, it'll move to another world that's less populated.

No need to ask the dev's for special guild privileges because what, you have more players? A single player should have the same rights and access to a map as anyone else. They are paying customers the same as you.

  14. None of the polls would cover actual critiques. For me, the "Call of War" buff has been the only redeeming quality of this entire Beta. Everything else was way worse.

Worlds should be the foundation of World vs World.
World rewards should be a thing again.
Population balance is actually the least of the modes problems.
Open the worlds up more and let the players decide.

Build balance (cele) and remove troll builds as there's too many stuns, pulls, condi's, etc.
Fix exploits/glitches. Finally stop people from portaling into things without actually opening walls/gates.

Lastly, the mode needs new content! Right now it's Lunar New Year and there's no WvW theme or Reward track.
Fun short duration/weekend events. Back in the day "Golem Rush" was fun but, needed to be like one skirmish not an entire week.

11 days later and it's still an absolutely miserable experience. Don't believe I've disliked the dev's more than I do at this point in time.

What a miserable experience. If this continues there is no way I'm continuing to play.

Do you not see any irony at all in you asking for "equality by design" with regards to combat while at the same time being against an "equality by design" team formation change?

Literally having the freedom to move out of inequality is aligned with asking for "equality by design".

Mag on Griffonfall were spawning camping in EB this morning. So much for the dev's ability to create balance. lol

So they will be even more piled up, and those who are outnumbered will be even more outnumbered.

Right now it appears most of the old Mag are on Griffonfall and they are spawn camping EB, as usual. Why? Because Red (Skrittsburgh) it outnumbered and has the outnumbered buff to prove it.

    1) If WvW was designed without tiers and the Worlds fought in one multiverse match, other players could go fight them. Instead, we have this kitten.
    2) With open Worlds, players could go move to Worlds to fight them even with the tiered design.

As it's been, we the players can't do anything because the dev's have tied our hands behind our backs because they've kept worlds closed.
Now in this Beta, all control is given to the Dev's, which is worse!
Again, the problem is actually not the players but, the dev's and their control mechanisms.

as soon as you open transfers, a bandwagon-moment will set in and we have maguuma 2.0

Mag wasn't a problem to fight, in fact they were the most fun to fight the past few months.

The problem continues to be the Dev's trying to control and micromanage us. How can a proper counter force arise to a "Mag2.0" when the Dev's are keeping everyone else locked down? That's the problem, it has been for years, the players fighting the Dev's. Opening worlds and leaving them open is a better solution.
