  1. What’s the best zone to get karmic retribution for karma farming? I seen an old  post someone recommended sand swept isles as there is lots of easy mobs to kill along the beach for a lot of karma per hour. Any other suggestions? I’m always karma poor and looking for a good place to farm regularly . Thanks

  2. The skyscales in dragonfall are not account wide I know that for sure. I don’t think the recipe in bitter frost is as well but I could be wrong on that account. Also the last return to  living season where you go in the dwarf ruins and need to get through the gate to do the crypt event is not account wide as well a kind Mesmer ported me across although I already had it unlocked on my other charter.

Thanks for the responses guess I’ll just peck away at them if I get bored.

  3. Do you replay the story when you switch mains? I decided to switch and spend most my time on a new class and now I’m wondering if I should take the time to replay the awful (in my opinion) story again.

I bought all  the portal tomes so I would never have to complete the story again but I feel like if you don’t play it through again you miss out on some things. For example there is a recipe in the winterberry zone (to melt the ice maybe) you can only get by playing the story the temporary skyscales in dragonfall you can’t mount without having done the story (not a big deal I have skyscale). Also read there is an event with the upcoming Halloween you can’t do without having played through season 3.  I’m sure there is more these are just things I have noticed.

So as bad as I don’t want to play through it again I feel like you have to complete the story if you decide to switch mains or you miss out on to much. Tell me I’m wrong please 😄

I'm kinda surprised at this coming up.

I did this event recently for the Return achievement alongside my son who doesn't have skyscale or griffon. At first I was worried as most of the people there mounted up on skyscales to move between platforms. I felt bad for him, and was worried about him keeping up.

He would arrive at the Djinn, though, a few seconds after the rest of us, and get to fight in each phase. Definitely wasn't as easy for him, but he didn't seem to feel left out at all.

The only thing we've given up on due to him not having skyscale are the post-Dragonfall meta champions. People zoom around the map and kill those so fast there's no keeping up without skyscale. It is the skyscale map, so I guess that makes a kind of sense.

I can’t get to the post event champions sometimes even riding the skyscale before they are dead,  them champions need more health because no one knows how to take it easy and let people arrive before they blow them up 🥴

maybe it’s not such a problem when it’s not the return to event as I haven’t played the meta there very many times but last night by the time I could see the chest to loot them through all the people and got in route to the champion it was already dead I’d have to skip looting the chest to make it to the next one…..

Depending on the item, try Sand Shark, Regal, or Electro Blue. (You don't have to buy them just to test, you can preview them by copy-pasting a code from the wiki or fighting it on the TP and right-clicking "Preview.")

thanks a ton electro blue is that match I was looking for! Now I just have to spend the 15 gold on it 😞

  6. I agree I made a post they other day about how many specs will be enough and it got a lot of traction (mostly with folks disagreeing with me and wanting more)? I’m with you in that  I like a lot about the new specializations but what I don’t like is how the old ones just seem to been forgot about and don’t get any updates or  improvements.

A lot of the core specs I enjoy more than the new stuff  but it’s hard to play them when I know the newer specs just do most things  better. Its a bad  to continually just build new and improve and leave the old stuff people enjoy behind which is what I feel is happing and why I made the post when will it be enough.
I’m afraid it’s always gonna be out with the old in with the new. If you want to play an old spec have fun hobbling around 😞

Edit for some examples of updates.

I would love for core necros staff skills to be fixed because that’s a weapon and a spec I desire to play. And sure I can but it feels like garbage compared to other options in most scenarios. Same with warrior and ranged weapons, the bow and rifle (depending if you want to play power or condi) needs some love! I’m sure pistol will be good on warrior until the next shiny spec for them comes along…..

  7.  Need help matching this color on the restored boreal weapons, I been trying to match it and I just can’t find that exact color blue in the dye system. maybe its just they way the light shines on armor compared to the weapon but nothing looks quite right

I’m starting to think it’s not a color option. Can anyone who is handy with this sort of thing help?

Most of the common stuff has already been posted. I will just add a few tricks and hints. How to save time and money. There is no need to purchase every portal-scroll that exists. Here we go:

Note: The Living World shortcuts only work for episodes you own.

The Jahai Bluffs Portal Scroll is a good alternative for the Invitation to "Lily of the Elon"Spearmarshal's Plea and the PoF Guildhall (Windswept Haven). I know portal-scrolls have been mentioned a lot in this thread, but this one in particular is actually worth carrying in a shared inventory slot. When you activate it, you are teleported to the Jahai Bluffs. Then you dodge backwards 2x and you are teleported to the Domain of Vabbi (PoF), near the Necropolis Waypoint. If you head south in the Jahai Bluffs, you can enter the Domain of Kourna via Wurmhaven. That is three maps with one item.

Upon reaching level 80, you have the Eye of the North automatically unlocked. Just head for the pink Asura Gate and enter the following Strike Missions. Leave through the blue portal, but pick the map instead of the Eye of the North. That way you can unlock all IBS maps:

    - Shiverpeaks Pass => Grothmar Valley

    - Boneskinner/Whisper/Kodan/Fraenir => Bjora Marches

    - Cold War => Drizzlewood Coast

In addition, you can also use the Dragon Response Mission for Lake Doric, head straight to Doric's Landing Waypoint, which magically unlocks the real waypoint outside the instance as well. This works with the other maps including Thunderhead Peaks, too. The real-world waypoints will show up automatically, just get close to unlock them. They will vanish from your minimap afterwards, but they stay unlocked when leaving the instance.

Enter either sPvP (Heart of the Mists) or WvW and walk through the pink Asura Gate to get to Lion's Arch. As usual, the cinematic automatically ports you to the Trader's Waypoint near the bank. Head east to Farshore Ward and use the portal next to the Cavern Waypoint to get into Lonar's Pass. Head up the wooden path north to the Durmand Priory and use any mount to get to the Asura Gate. You will be teleported to the Straits of the Devastation, Fort Trinity. There you can head straight into the Vigil portal and reach the Vigil Headquarters in Gendarran Fields.

From there you can quickly get to Snowden Drifts (east) or Harathi Hinterlands (north-west) via Povern Waypoint.

Either via Gate Hub Plaza or by heading North from Shaemor Waypoint, you enter Divinity's Reach. Entering the portal at the Plaza of Lyssa grants access to Lake Doric (LW3), the portal at the Rurikton grants access to Fields of Ruin.

This post came a little to late for me 😞 I just spent a bunch of currency buying all the scrolls and tomes for the 3 living seasons

. Oh well hopefully I’ll get some use out of them.

    Good info!

  9. Thanks  I’ll have to look into the arc dps I’m only running the base game but that makes sense along with the combat text.

Guess I’m weird for wanting to see me character fight something in a game Judging by the couple confused look emojis I have pulled already 😄👍 you guys are great keep contributing with your confused looks!

  10. How do you enjoy playing melee in meta events? What I mean is how do you even know your contributing for the most part when you have 50 people standing at the same spot of the thing that needs to die feet and can’t tell if you attacking or not by looking at your character through the blob of people? Do you look at your action bars to see if attack chains are going off? Do you look for floating combat numbers? I  prefer playing melee in small groups but in large events I find this a problem so I mainly stick to classes that can range as well but I miss my warrior and want to know how others deal with it? Maybe I rely to much on watching my character for visuals but when I can’t see what I’m doing = Less fun.

    Thanks.

  11. I understand they keep things fresh again don’t deny that. But at the same time it takes away from the game in other ways. Homogenization  as someone else said it better than I did.  Plus I like the idea of most of the core classes but they only get left further in the dust with no updates to visuals or performance.

It was just a topic to discuss  if you got out of that what I said is sooo wrong then fair enough.

Also This is coming from a person who’s been married 20 plus years hasn’t moved many times and has had the same type Job all my adult life so I’m not one to need constant change to be content. *shrug*

This be the last post from me on this topic I’ll continue to read and enjoy what others have to say.  Thanks for the replies!

"Every expansion" means once every 3-4 years, and not necessarily gonna go on forever.

For all we know, this may be the last expansion they ever do (though I would get there's gonna be a bunch more Living Story afterward).

I doubt it, as long as the game remains profitable ( I see plenty of people playing that have pretty skins so I think they doing ok) there will always be another expansion unless they do the gw3 reboot.

That would be like McDonald’s saying this gonna be the last cheeseburger we ever make.  Ain’t gonna happen with people sitting in the drive through.

i just think they would do well to add to the world not the classes but I understand they keep the game fresh side of the coin. Just worried about the bloat in the long run but guess this is the nature of all mmos they have done a fair job up to this point keep things like gear and level bloat out of the game.

  13. I wish I could get into crafting  as I have been saving mats for it . Probably could craft an ascended set for what I have saved  but I just don’t see it worth the effort over exotics that’s freely available for minimum loss for the casual content I do. It is a goal To work towards though, just wish it was a little more gain for the effort.

But I understand why it’s the way it is.

  14. I’m sure this has been brought up  before but where is the ceiling when it comes to class specializations? Don’t get me wrong I understand it keeps the game fresh for people who never take breaks and brings the ones back that do but when does it stop? Every expansion we just gonna get more and more until every class can use every weapon? That’s a lot to balance when other existing  specs and weapon skills could use some love without adding new for the sake of shiny.

    Thoughts?

  15. As I mentioned in another post I’m finally caught up on the story after years of playing on and off and  would like to know what’s out there in the world that  should be collected before the expansion?

All the mounts is an obvious one, The quality of life mastery’s like auto loot and no stamina gliding (all though my griffin has pretty much made glider obsolete in my eyes unfortunately). Another one I’m working toward is all the portal scrolls for the living world seasons in case I want to switch classes.

What else like this would be helpful to have I might have overlooked along the way?

    Thanks!

  16. Strange question maybe but I been playing a condi ranger and really enjoying it! when I hit something with a short bow or torch N dagger the bleeding and burning stacks really stack up to say maybe 15 stacks or more if I hit some utility buttons.

I stared a condi scourge thought it would be similar but his torment and bleeding stacks only get up to like 5-8 stacks. The mobs die just as fast it seems but really just isn’t as satisfying to see the stacks ramp up as high as on the ranger. I’m I doing something wrong or do different professions and abilities apply different amounts of condi stacks?  I’m guessing the latter…..

    thanks!

  17. Well after years of playing on and off I finally for the first time ever caught up on the story, just finished ice brood saga. I seen someone describe gw2 story as a roller coaster and I think that’s very accurate. Was  some highs and lows. personally feel like there was more lows than highs but it was a fun ride. That being said I don’t see myself every doing the whole story again on a new character.

which brings up the question what do you do on your Alts or when switching mains? Do you do the whole story again. Do you pick and choose the to parts you enjoyed before? Problem is the story introduces you to new areas so not sure how to level an alt without doing it all over again. Or you can buy the scrolls I guess but you have to have the karma.

Just wondering what others do when they start a new character because even though I really love this game I can’t slog through the story again.

     Thanks!

  19. What’s the best use for experience boosters? I know there is many types I kind of feel like they are away to take up bank space because that’s where mine sit.

But anyways  how and when do you use them? Leveling a new character? While crafting? Doing pvp? Mastery tracks?

I have a bunch of different types sitting in my bank from over the years and I want to know the optimal way to use them. Whenever I do use one I feel like I waste them.

also do you ever buy them off the gem store? If so when and why?

  20. I recently returned myself so take this with a grain of salt but it’s up to you like most other things.

I’m sure you could get by just watching a lore video on you tube. But ls4 has the sky’scale mount your probably going to want to work towards getting that at some point. I haven’t finished icebrood myself yet but it’s been decent in my opinion so far but I have seen nothing in it like the skyscale you would definitely want to have. So you could probably get by without the story but there is like 6 months to go why not?
