  1. Like the post. Actually started playing ele again because I saw a tempest build from wooden potatoes. I thought I had to play weaver but not enough time to play it like a “piano” even though it seems so “cool”.

Scepter/warhorn is the definition of mage and enjoy the range and everything above you mentioned! I also like that I’ll be able to play it in pvp based off a vid from Vallun so loving the fact that I can play my ele and not just use to farm wood haha

Edit: I know you weren’t talking open world and I know it’s “easy” but what build would you go? I can’t decide between fire or water for last trait line and utilities are a toss up.

  2. Not true at all, soulbeast can hold almost every class if builded correctly. Sadly most people just look on metabattle and think that the only effective playstyle available is the sniper one.

What other SLB builds you running? Do you have a condi version?

At the very beginning, all elite specs have been flat out upgrades of their core classes. They just got additional stuff slapped on mostly. Some, like Reaper for example, were trading something from their core for the new mechanic (base shroud given up to get the reaper shroud). And Anet applies that philosophy to every espec now, every elite has to give up something for their new mechanics.

Soulbeast was outdated in that sense, since it wasn't giving up anything to get the pet fuse mechanic. It was just an add on slapped on top of the same mechanics ranger has available as well. Soulbeast just got the same treatment most other especs already have, they have to give up something to get their new mechanic now. And what they have to give up is the ability to swap pets in combat.

Great response! Never thought of it like this but makes perfect sense

I was gold 2 the last season I played so nothing special and I don’t know how MMR works in gw2 or if I even have “any” right now since it’s been so long. Also, if I do my placements, how will that impact next season?

Basically, afraid I’ll place badly which will make me place even worse next season (assuming mmr carries over) when I can just wait and start fresh next season. I’m probably way over thinking this and I know the gw2 pvp isn’t anything to write home about but figured I’d ask!

    Thanks in advance!

Ill share you my thoughts on the matter.I always play ranked unless :astonished :

1 I am playing with people I cant ranked with ( more then 1 pers )2 Im drunk3 Im testing something ( dont wanna get spawn camped by thiefs and instead wanna play with more relaxed people )Play ranked. Dont worry. Dont get stressed.its good to know how far you can get.its good to know what you can expect from yourselfand even tho quality of games is garbage, its better in ranked, so you will propably have more even matches ( if that is something you desire )oh and you make more gold -> money money money.

All very good points! I forgot the rewards are better even though I’ve got 1K gold and have no idea what to spend it on since I don’t do any end game pve lol.

However, I would keep an eye on Defense as, post-patch, it may provide quite a bit of sustain that may see a return to the old Defense Spellbreaker or even Core warrior. As for more fringe builds like condi and power Berserker, I don't have enough experience with these builds to really say, but I see no reason why they would be any more viable than they are now. But again, so much is changing so who really knows.

Super detailed and helpful post! Will be interested to get your thoughts once the patch hits :)
