I often mention DAOC in threads like this because from day 1 RvR (their version of WvW) goal is clear, same as
benefits and shortcomings of stealing enemy relic.
Each of 3 sides had 1 melee and 1 caster relic, that would increase your side melee or caster damage by 10% (both in PVE and PVP)
However, the more relics you had, the harder it got to keep them...you had to defend more relic keeps, and your guards would become
easier to kill and generally weaker.
Also, your relics were held in astonishingly hard relic keeps, while enemy relics were kept in much weaker ordinary keeps.
Also, I liked how mythic handled things...my side once built 20 rams (SOS style) and took relic very fast, next day Mythic
put cap on that allowing only 3 rams (operating and making rams was much harder than in GW2)

Looking that video, I miss DAOC even more...it was great idea to make most of melee CC positional, with best ones available

Do you have problem with reading? It was 80 people inside SMC vs 30 of us...and show me where I mentioned "problems with oils and ac's"
Quite the contrary, I called them "honey pots", hence my 300 kills and 0 deaths

Lost bet, its actually 30...that server pugs say here their pugs can farm other comp groups even
when outnumbered 2:1, but that seems not hold the truth...but whatever, this is not
DAOC where you get bad rep for adding onto other people fights

Then we proceeded to SMC, and just pulled people off the wall.
0 deaths, 300 kills, almost DAOC RvR kind of fun (although that's theoretically impossible)

Among most other things, DAOC had perfect solution for that, too...after CC, you had double long duration immunity, but only to same type of CC...
so after you removed 11s stun stun, you were immune for 22s, but you still could be rooted or mezzed
Fun fact: those for GW2 standards enormous 11s DAOC stuns were less annoying than GW2 short ones

Giving attackers upper hand at towers/keeps. It makes it more dynamic, I exclusively play attacking and never defend.
Its a bit repeating, but pulling 10+ players over and over is still fun, and since many people like to stick to oil and ACs
(which actually serve as honeypots to us attackers) everyone's happy I guess
Its a bit counterintuitive, but since all other pvp MMOs died, it actually proves Anet did it right

Asking original question because games seem to fit in 2 categories, ones that favor
higher 5800x frequencies and other that favor 5800x3d massive cache

I'm using DX11 since it was first introduced, and except few minor visual glitches, didn't have much problems.

I agree with OP, and whenever issue is brought up, its best to see video of game that did it proper way, to the point
of actually calculating physics and (for example) defending archers having much bigger range than attacking ones

I like that they added this 400%+ wxp inflation to game, so we casual players can catch rank of veteran players faster

Main problem is Anet definition of "winning"...if you set goal of not dropping from tier, you'll always get two stronger servers gang up on weakest one.
Anet copied idea of 3 instead 2 teams/sides from another MMO, the best ever regarding PVP.
Now they have to copy one more thing from that game...give #1 server something that both #2 and #3 desire and
we will get healthy situation where 2 weaker servers fight top one, and not another way around.
Also, that other superb MMO had another genius idea...top server had weakest keeps and towers, with weaker and smaller number
of guards (and guards in said game could actually 1-shot you in their strongest form)

Like, I get that server maintenance and bandwidth costs can be in the millions. And there may be over a hundred employees, I don't know how big Mythic was at the time, but a big mmorpg could easily have that. That may come to tens of millions more, possibly.
But a billion? Was Elon Musk running Mythic? Did Games Workshop just take them to the cleaners?

Not only would the EU people get farmed they would get BM’d into oblivion. They play super nice on EU, I’m not sure they have ever encountered the trolly, skillful and somewhat toxic level of gameplay MAG can bring. Imo they would take MAG week off too.

Depends what you consider "shortly", but yes. More precise would be "leave shortly after next pvp MMO in a queue comes out"
