Revenants channel a memory of the Mists, which basically is an imprint of people's deeds and their impact on the world. Revenants do not channel people themselves. That why I think it's stupid that the Legends can make small talk to the player.

No idea why people keep repeating this when it's not true, as can be read in the Hidden Arcana blog post: "A revenant’s legends are not merely echoes of the past but are fully sentient, with opinions and personalities of their own."

Rev is not a ranged profession.

Scholar professions are ranged classes with spells.

Adventurer professions are ranged classes with projectiles.

Soldier professions are not designed to be ranged classes. They are generally melee and close distance with gap closers and very few ranged options. The tradeoff for Rev is that instead of specializing in healing (Guardian) or attacking (Warrior), they use a lot of speed, teleportation, and disabling.

That is literally their entire identity. They do not need ranged weapons. They just hop through the mists if distance is an issue.

Furthermore, ranged builds are a major problem in GW2's balance. Nearly half the playerbase uses a small subset of ranged especs because they make the game so much easier: Mech, Virtuoso, Scourge, Specter, Harbinger (and to some extent Tempest, Druid and Renegade). They are able to consistently do more damage than melee builds because they have the luxury of avoiding mechanics without stopping their rotation, and generally needing less healing/maintenance.

We. Do. Not. Need. More. Ranged. Builds. There are plenty, and they need their damage tuned down. OP is just lazy and frankly doesn't have much appreciation for diverse class design. My advice is play Renegade or another ranged class for as long as they are still overtuned, or elsewise accept your hammer and "git gud" with Rev's impressive and unique toolkit.

Melee or Ranged • Invokes Legendary Heroes • Magic-Wielding Fighter

It's literally on the character creation screen.

That's all well and good and a decent critique of Vindicator's color scheme overall (personally I like it though), but I'm just saying that GS following the color scheme of the e-spec isn't new and has been done for the past two expansions as well.  I would change your argument to be about Vindicator's color scheme as a whole instead of just GS's, since GS will (and should) follow whatever Vindi's is given the precedent they've set for themselves

You're right, I do dislike the Vind icons in general, they're less detailed unlike the rest and the utility icons just don't look like they fit on Rev (when I made Vindicator in beta at a first glance I wasn't sure if I even made the right profession). Also they're inconsistent when it comes to Archemorus, Vind icon is red/blue, trait background and icons are red/blue but the icons and energy bar are orange.

So my proposal is to stick with the Rev darker color scheme but add in a bit of blue for Viktor and make Archemorus icons even more red or even darker red.

Not Including shield really doesn’t help your point here unfortunately.  If you included shield it would become painfully obvious that the skill icons for elite spec weapons for revenant are based off of the color scheme for the elite spec itself, not based off of the “gray/red” core revenant color scheme. So with this in mind GS’s scheme is actually fine and matches perfectly with what they’ve done the past two e-specs.

Light blue colour of Glint on shield and facets is only added to the mix of Revenant colour scheme and doesn't stand our nearly as much as the Vindicator with it's bright blue and orange icons. Renegade icons blend in nicely as well and only the energy bar and F skills are orange.

In my opinion, that'd have been better than the handling of Cantha by developers who never played factions and thus don't understand anything of it and why it was liked so much. They didn't even bother picking up the thematics of Winds of Change as part of their expansion and basically said "that's in the past, we don't want to have anything to do with that."

ArentNet of today is one of the most PC companies out there, do you really expect them to deal with any themes that are more complex than "kill big dragons",  and more importantly would you trust them with it?

Gotta admit, my reaction to golem revenant is 'sure, you could, but why would you when another profession is already doing that?' Even if we were to presume that switching between a core legend and a MM legend was a valid playstyle difference over a mechanist or untamed, does the summon really need to be a golem when we could have, say, Lord Odran summoning something funky from the Mists?

Golemancer doesn't really have a place on Revenant thematically, it's way too high tech. Same with firearms.

The gs is slow and a bit bugged. Not the best at all. It's cool that Rev finally got a GS but it needs some tweaks.

Notice however that almost nobody is complaining about the GS. People on this forum are mostly compaining about the elite skills, the F2 mechanic, the flipover mechanic, the lack of DPS (sub 30k is BAD), the cooldowns and the super long jump animation on Death Drop. To recap.

There are many NICE ideas on how to fix the flipover and F2, I hope ANet listens to at least one of them

That's actually not true, a lot of people complain about GS: from its trash animations, unfitting icons, incoherent kit, low damage and it basically being yet another melee weapon that brings nothing really new.

My only complaint that has nothing to due with the actual gameplay itself is the color of the greatsword skill icons. Why are they only blue? firstly, that makes it seem like it only relates to st. viktor. secondly, they just don't look like rev skills that way. The weapon skills should look a lot closer to core rev weapon skills in terms of pallete choice, and with archemorus you would think more red would be in there but oh well lol.

I feel the same way about icons, hopefully they're just unfinished and they recolour them to get in line with the rest of our icons. I get they want to lean into the red for Luxons  and blue for Kurzicks but those utility icons just don't look like they belong to Revenant but instead like they're something they made for Warrior and Guardian but didn't get to use them.

Literally the point of the colours is to represent the Luxon and Kurzick Factions in their respective colours (Luxon Red, Kurzick Blue), so I don't see how that doesn't fit this E-Spec when it's about those two Factions forming an alliance

No kitten, all I'm saying is that the way they look right now doesn't feel like they're Revenant icons but Warrior or Guardian.

  10. I don't know if anyone else is bothered by this but those Vindicator icons just don't feel Rev to me. Hopefully they're just placeholder because all those blue GS icons just don't fit with the rest of our weapons and the same goes for utility skills, they look like they belong to Warrior and Guardian. Please lean in on Revenant colour scheme which is black, white and red with a splash of legends unique colour for utilities.
