Funny enough this would probably boost a tiny bit the old PBM build rather than create a completely new condi Holo build.

The condi damage portion of PBM holo only takes about 10% of the total dmg, this wouldn't boost much the damage of power builds. Which is also something that PBM holo needs since it's pretty obsolete now that ECSU is way, waay better dps and utility wise.

There are just not enough condition trait and holo skill that gives condi. I mean sure the laser disk gives bleeding yay, the elite can burn and drop a light field that burns yay but that's it. The main reason you can kind of make it works is because Firearms lines and kits do all the heavy lifting.

Solar Focusing LensPrime Light Beam and Photon Blasting Module are the reason Condi Holosmith deals more damage than Core Condi Engi. You don't use Laser disc on the Condi Holosmith build.

    * Like you said, Laser Edge might give additional condi damage but not only PBM. With all traits.
    * Crystal Configuration: Storm might deal bleeding damage with extra %1 heat instead of projectiles.

My intention to make it PBM exclusive is to prevent giving more buffs to the ECSU build, which is already pretty optimal.

Bleeding dmg instead of ranged might be a good suggestion.

  2. When the 5th pulse comes, you already lost 2 of the 4 previous pulses. Essentially making you have 3 stacks of Regeneration at that time.

On the 8th and final pulse, you end up with a total of 5 pulses of regeneration, effectively not having wasted a single pulse through the duration of Hard Light Arena.

From the moment you gain the first stack/pulse of regeneration, you'll begin to lose 1 application of regeneration every 2 pulses.

  3. Just throwing my comment in here. I know more than 90% of the people are super upset about the food removal, so for a change I wanted to voice my own perception about this to let Anet know that not everyone is super angry about it.

Despite Research Notes being super controversial given how tedious it was in their initial release. It actually gave value to all of the worthless trash crafted items and consumables in the TP and that was pretty much the reason why Research Notes were introduced to begin with. People just got upset that they have to pay 3s instead of 50c for a magic find food but for me it's better when the echonomy and value of items has.. well, some value, instead of being items that you can pretty much throw away or sell at npc.

  4. Hello, i'm a very dedicated Rifle Holosmith player, after seeing the patch notes previews I noticed most of the buffs are planned for the Sword's Enhanced Capacity Storage Unit build, my biggest concern is that with all these changes, it's gonna turn Photon Blasting Module builds completely obsolete in comparison to ECSU. so I'm here to bring some suggestions on how to buff PBM.

Photon Blasting Module:  Remove the 5 second toolbelt cooldown penalty: what makes PBM builds decent is that it had good burst (right now sword holo has even bigger burst). Removing the 5 sec cooldown penalty would allow the holosmith to use it's toolbelt skills more often to keep up with ECSU sword damage builds. If it's possible, instead make exploding with PBM reduce the cooldowns of all toolbelt skills to allow the holosmith to use the abilities more often, giving it a good reason to choose PBM (2 to 5 seconds of cooldown reduction would be fine in my opinion, 5 seconds flat when exploding, or 2 seconds per target hit with the explosion, any of the two).

    ------------------------------

    30 Nov Edit:

-Let the holo get the full benefit of Exceed Skills (and I mean the 100 heat bonuses) as long as they have the Overheat debuff when they have PBM selected.

-Aditional to Strike Damage % gained by Laser's Edge, give the same amount as condi damage with PBM equiped.

    ------------------------------

Solar Focusing Lens: Up the damage increase from 10% to 20 or 30%, PBM holo uses this special boon really well by deactivating photon force after Corona Burst into Blunderbuss for that dmg increase on both Rifle 2 and the second hit of Corona Burst, and timing Jump Shot and Rifle 2 after overheating. WIth the DMG increase of Solar Focusing Lens it would benefit PBM Build more than ECSU holo, since ECSU is based on small damage multi hitting abilities.

Heat Theresold Ability bonuses: Right now there is a possible bug where bonuses from the heat theresold doesn't apply if the holosmith has exactly 50 heat, the holosmith needs to be above 51 heat in order to get the benefit of the heat theresold. now that the patch preview showed more bonuses for 100 heat, my biggest concern is that it's gonna happen the same for PBM builds where it will be unable to proc the 100 heat bonuses since it's gonna actually need 101 heat.  Alternatively you can make it so all Exceed skills and their corresponding toolbelt skills give the full benefit of 100 heat theresold bonuses while having the overheat status with PBM trait selected.

Here is a video example of the bug:

Well statistics are normally pretty solid with a n of 1000. That site has like 300 time that if I remember right. That should be more then enough to be accurate in most cases. So the only remaining question is what could wrong with the sampling and has Efficiency a reason to modify Data for self gain. I don't think they have a vested interest in spreading fake news to win a race war, so we are fine on that front. All that remains is sampling. As you have to opt in, People on that side are generally more invested. Which could skew some statistics, Like number of legendries or average achievement points. Bias is something people should have in mind with any sampling, because any sampling has bias in one form or another. But with the n as high as it is, you should make a solid argument why the bias in this sample is significant enough to affects race choice by a big enough margin. Otherwise it just sounds like you don't like what the data tells.

A lot of stuff we rely in the real Word has some kind of bias. We don't discard that Data just because we can't be 100% sure it's bias free.

You do get it, but people who argue won't because they don't want to lose an internet argument lol

Whoever invalidates GW2Efficiency as being innacurate because it's not a 100% sample is like when people used to say Wikipedia isn't a valid source since anyone could edit it lol.

Besides, enforcing this rule on people who just don't give a crap about it and will just do whatever they want anyway is the opposite of chill. I mean, what am i gonna do if 20 uber DPS people show up, run in front of everyone and kill all mobs, open all dors before the rest come and don't even respond to me asking them? Kick them out of the squad? I mean, yay, they're still on the map.

The thing is even though you want your farm to be chill, you're gonna be ruining the experience to potentially other 49 people in the squad, it's etiquette, chill or not.

Ah, so it's all a bags/hour kind of thing!

Ok, thanks all for the responses!

Didn't think DPS gear had such an impact.

I perfer running chill farms myself, but to each their own. 🙂

I guess so, but it's not gonna be chill for you if many players instantly kills the enemies with 3-4 hits before you get to tag them.

I think the biggest problem is the inconsistency in the intention. It's clearly a sink, but when people use it to sink unwanted items they have too much of...oh no, that's not what you're supposed to be sinking, we apparently want you to be sinking stuff that's actually valuable!

    Seriously.

Just let it be a sink, and the market will sort itself out. People are using it to sink tier 1 materials? Congratulations, you've made tier 1 materials actually worth something! Don't worry, if they start being worth too much, people will find something else to research salvage and it will self-correct!

It's not actually a bad system in and of itself, but the strength of it is that it'll self-correct if it's just allowed to function. Bringing in a ton of exceptions or adjusting drop tables specifically because the system exists just compromises the whole approach.

It's their way to make worthless items a little bit more valuable., AFAIK the only items that were able to be converted into research notes and now they aren't, are items that you can buy with NPCs, to prevent the cost of research notes to stay at a fixed value.

The main problem is that people were used to have everything basically for free, and now that their magic find items costs 2s its time to complain about the system. This systmem started badly though (having to manually consume stacks of research notes), but it has been getting a little bit better overtime, and to be fair, it was basically this, or having to burn stacks of mystic coins to make legendaries/buy cosmetics.

  9. Responsibility? People don't get that we're really lucky to get Charr as a playable race. I'm more worried about anet not considering Charr for a playable GW3 race in the future since they bring nothing but nuiseances when armorskins are being released.

As for customization options, even with only the core options, charr has more customizations than any other mmorpg i've seen..

Can anyone simply explain me how does it keep happening? Are they don't do testing or what? Please genuine answers without unnecesary memes.

You see, there is a server where they test stuff, if the stuff works in the test server it doesn't necessarily mean it will work in the main server.

Have you noticed GW2 doesn't have maintenance times? this is the biggest drawback of that, you get to play for uninterrupted amounts of time at the cost of not knowing when things will work or not work once they come from the test server.

  11. Oh you can definitely control it to an extent. I always proceed it with Rifle 5 and 2 on overheat, and with the second pulse of Holo3 and Rifle2 when manually exiting, you just have to delay laser disk or prime light beam to avoid the ticks.

  12. Should buff the Holo Traitline instead of core traits and making core engi unironically stronger than any of its eliite specs.

Laser's Edge at full value during overheat sounds good, they could also completely remove the cooldown penalty on overheat with PBM, and increase both burning stacks and damage of Solar Focusing Lens so you can capitalize on your burst after overheating.
