I think I've done the full thing only twice: Once on my Warrior, because it's my main, and once on my Renegade for experiencing it on modern profession design that is in line with how Arenanet designed the game in the recent years.

But neither experience was anywhere close to enjoyable. Even with Renegade being more efficient, it was still a boring slog.

I really think them moving the meta away from a once-a-day thing to an endlessly farmable meta is what killed it for a lot of players. I personally didn't enjoy it, but it was potentially good rewards once a day so I didn't mind running through it every couple of days. But then they made it farmable, which of course in turn meant they nerfed the rewards, and that's when it started to crumble.

Add on the fact that Part 2 of the meta is probably one of the worst meta experiences I've ever played through in the game, the meta itself went from being something that some people would do once a day and turned into something that many people actively avoid. It still amazes me that a meta like Dragon's End was followed up by Gyala Delves, but I think they were nervous about getting backlash like they did from DE.

And personally -- I have never liked vehicle/mount combat in metas. WoW learned this lesson years ago, though it seems with their new raid tier they are experimenting with it again in one of their boss fights. Make it a brief part of the event sure, but the tunnel/last boss being basically a turtle ride is just a joke. Amnytas has the same issue. If I'm playing my guardian or engie or whatever, I don't want to be riding on a mount and spamming a fireball, I want to play my class and push my buttons.

It does still fail, but that in itself doesn’t mean the turtle is necessarily “hard” to get, as the egg to start the collection can be bought with writs of Dragon’s End, and the part previously exclusive to the Kaineng Overlook strike mission can be bought in Gyala Delve. So now the hardest part is probably the Jade Maw. Starting it without doing Dragon’s End is likely to be slower unless you’ve already built up an excess of writs, but is entirely viable.

Oh yeah I wasn't responding to the op post, just this comment about "how does it fail still."

I was gonna agree with the title premise given one is useless and the other part of powercreep , but then I read "... because its too hard" and now I just wonder how people still fail with this 40k dps per class patch

To be fair, I've been in a number of organized groups (boons & subgroups and everything) and still seen it fail, meanwhile the same group of leeching bots are always there taking up space in the map literally doing nothing.

What he wants out of this game is wildly different from what the vast majority want out of it and it's dangerous that we have people like CmC looking to please streamers and tryhards more than the casuals that make up 90%+ of the population.  Bye Felicia

I don't see any evidence of "CmC trying to please streamers and tryhards." For those of us who do enjoy instanced group content with a challenge, we were only given 2 additional strikes with forthcoming challenge modes, meanwhile the "90%+ of the population" that doesn't want to engage with that content got access to fully soloable open world legendary armor and easier access to the Skyscale.

If there was any amount of effort to try and push players towards harder instanced content anymore then I'm not seeing it.

Now an even much better version of the system would be no system at all and remove timegates from the game 😄

Because seriously. Not everyone can play every day. If I play 10 hours in 7 days or 10 hours in 1 day it shouldn't make a difference for rewards.

I see what you're trying to say, but that doesn't make any sense. If you are only playing 10 hours a week vs 10 hours a day, you are already earning less than someone playing 10 hours a day. You're also definitely earning significantly less than someone who knows how to farm optimally, unless you spend your 10 hours a week exclusively doing that.

It's a horizontal progression game that gives you rewards for time investment, so if you are not investing as much time as someone else of course you wont earn as much. What incentive would someone who wants to play 10 hours a day have to play if their rewards were chopped to match someone who just logged in for 10 hours a week?

The difference here is the rewards have goal posts and you can work towards them at your own pace, vs other similar systems where you are either there or you miss out completely.

I think it is not what he meant. Lets say it is one time paid feature even though you will still be able to get some rewards even without buying any xpac.

In other games you basically have to buy battle pass every season to get those extra rewards. So lets say 10 euros every 2-3 months.

And in many other "battle pass" style systems, you're under a time crunch to complete all the tasks before it expires otherwise you miss out -- but you can swipe to earn progression, which is likely what they are hoping the more casual player will do. Even in WoW's trading post you can only Hold 1 item over to the next month, otherwise the items on the post go away until they cycle back in. I hate those fomo-style systems, so this sounds like a much better version of the system.

hi, few players mentioned the ability to compare ur dps with others using arcDPS and i want to make sure its ok by ur EULA so i wont get banned.

Emidotexe posted a setup guide for arcdps where she addressed this question in the FAQ portion of her video with a screenshot of a dev post related to the topic.

As others have said, it's unofficially fine to use and if that changes they will likely make a very public announcement about it, but if you use it as a tool to be toxic to people then that's what will get you in trouble, not arcdps itself.

  8. I was actually really bummed to see it was for a mocha coffee blend instead of just regular coffee. I don't drink sugary drinks so really all I'd have use for is the cup. I'd love the coffee emote all things considered but that's a lot to spend on something I wouldn't even consume.

I even emailed their customer support to see if they had any options to offer any of their sugar-free options as a replacement so I could at least still get the gw2 cup but never heard back from them, sooo oh well. Neat to see them do another collab, just kinda missed the mark for people like me who tend to avoid sugar in general.

    You don't use Hammer 5?

From what I see, if you are going from your Hammer -> Sword ambush no, but you can once you ambush return from Sword -> Hammer. It looks like you only fit in 2 abilities without potentially losing the ambush proc (maybe), or perhaps it desyncs something, the after cast on Hammer 5 might lock you for too long, etc.

  11. I personally don't care about anything that they add to open world enough to feel strongly about suggesting they remove it. If people like bouncing on mushrooms or juicing up a robot to give them super powers then who cares, it's not like the open world in the game is challenging.

The only thing that does bug me is how quickly jackal portals were never carried forward. I thought those were neat.

It looks like the video is unleashing twice per cycle / rotation; do initial ambush via unleash toggle, end up back in ranger unleashed and wait 9s, unleash toggle again for another ambush, then immediately weapon swap to start the next rotation.

That way you always know when your ambush is available as its directly tied to your weapon swap CD.  The only time this gets muddy is if a mechanic doesn't allow you to perma-stack on the boss.

Yup that is what I meant. Maybe I worded it wrong, or misunderstood the question.

My only issue so far aside from that has been resetting my brain when I have to deal with a mechanic, and the pet unleash. In the video they seem to be able to F1, F2, and F3 immediately and all at once and then immediately ranger unleash, and my old hands aren't THAT fast and sometimes when trying I end up mistakenly swapping my pet lol

it's good atm, ppl cry cuz thay need use 2 buttons (field+leap/blast finisher) insted of one (gyro)

Maintaining quickness isn't an issue, it's just the playstyle has changed so dramatically and just doesn't feel fun anymore.

Really though it's still too mechanically complex for only 34k DPS when you can just roll a soulbeast and push near/over 40k doing half the work.

Well it is a quickness dps, it's not supposed to be competing with a pure dps bench.

I never touched untamed before this morning, but after piecing together a build basing it off the power untamed build and adding some BD (which basically mirrored the build in that video, sans a couple gear pieces I didn't think to add), it didn't feel overly complex. The only tricky part was tracking when Unleashed Power becomes available, otherwise you basically just mash most of your buttons while ranger unleashed, saving weapon swap for when Unleashed Power is back up.

    1 hour ago, Roadkizzle.2157 said:

You can only ambush twice the first rotation then there's only one ambush each time after that right? At least just by using the Weapon Swap to reset.

Or is that still by swapping in and out of Unleash?

If I understand your question correctly, you get two Unleashed Ambushes with the Let Loose trait because once you proc the ambush the first time you just weapon swap and another ambush is immediately available. Not need to re-toggle Unleash, you just stay in Ranger Unleash and it's there waiting for you.

  15. I did 2 strikes -- Boneskinner and Whisper of Jormag

The pylon was available before the instance began for Boneskinner, and chests spawned at the end.

The pylon was not attackable before the start of the instance for Whisper of Jormag, and the chests didn't spawn when we killed.

*EDIT* I see now there is another topic on this already, please merge or delete -- sorry for the double post!

    Hello,

My name is Kaminari, Imfumbe main ranger. I have a problem: I suck at SAB.

Thus i wanted to ask anet developers, designers, or janitors, anyone really who works there, if they could create another mode for SAB, called either in my name or "Hopeless" or whatever, so i can have a chance. Because it's not normal to lose 30 lives in the same spot in normal mode.
    Thank you for your attention.

    Kaminari, the lazy commander

Out of curiosity which part are you stuck on? Someone here may have a tip for you or be able to offer a guide. :)

  17. I would try to keep in mind that we have been living with fully unlocked expansions and Living World zones for a few years now. If it feels small in comparison right now then that makes sense.

EoD added a few systems that added a reason to re-visit some older maps through the Fishing mastery, which I think is really cool. I haven't tackled the achievements just yet outside of the EoD zones but it's definitely on my todo list.

The legendaries added seem to be some of the easiest ones to craft ever imo, so that is definitely a big plus for anyone who wants to make gold or build up their armory. Even if you are just fishing or gathering in Echovald you can make some decent change casually.

I know a lot of people focus on the rewards vs time spent when eyeballing meta events, but I just do them for fun. They are fresh and it's a nice change of pace from the meta train loop of the last few years. I have more time to play than I am sure many people do, so I can see why thinking about what is fun vs what is profitable maybe isn't seen as realistic for some.

I've also enjoyed trying out the new elite specs and working on the collections for their weapon appearances.

The strike missions seem like a nice step up in difficulty compared to IBS which I enjoy. Finding a set group for them so far has been a challenge (two guilds I've joined since launch that highlighted doing strikes both...do not do strikes due to lack of interest lol), but I'll get there. I've watched the guides and have learned better ways to build group comps since the launch of EoD, which has helped me be able to form pugs on my own which feels good.

I don't really like the turtle mount on its own, but I have gotten 3 friends to pick up the game recently so it's been nice having an option to taxi them around.

Obviously what one person finds fun compared to another is subjective. I've personally been having a blast and the roadmap is exciting, so hopefully you can find your fun in it too.

  18. I agree, but I also get it. If they called them raids then people (maybe not the FF14 crowd) would have seen them and also though them to be a joke ("1 boss is a raid? lul"), but then the gw2/wow players who know raids as they know them would have sorta felt the same.

I'm not super pressed atm to get weekly clears done since I am still trying to establish some friends and team mates in the game (found a promising guild this week that I'm optimistic about and get along with), so I can't speak to that frustration. But I personally love a challenge, so I can't wait to get my claws into them!

  19. Maybe I'm in the minority with my opinion, but I actually love that there is a challenging meta event. They have all been so easy, having one that isn't free chests is definitely exciting.

I've done mythic raiding in wow for 10+ years and so the rng isn't new to me, it can be really annoying when it doesn't go your way but ultimately it keeps the event from being cheeseable.

I am sure lots of people are annoyed that the turtle mount is locked behind the event and I get that, but I hope as you continue to iterate on the encounter you don't end up nerfing it into the ground. Maybe add an alternative route for players to get the siege turtle for those who don't want to face the challenge, I know a lot of super casual players who would probably just want the mount for the sake of +1 mount, so they shouldn't have to deal with people raging at them for this that and the other.

Yes it's a heavy time commitment, and yes there is always the chaos factor of the fact that there are people you don't know participating, but I love it and can't wait to actually beat this one!

    I never said it's unplayable.

What I say is that I don't see a reason to do much more for way less.

Why go through all the hoops with Bladesworn when I can get way better results with Base Warrior.

And just a reminder how much kitten Base Warrior is.

    Bladesworn simply has no role.

Also over 15k hours, 40k AP, full Legy armory here.  I don't think that's an skill issue. 🤔

As someone else already pointed out, I got your message tangled with the OP.

I also have no way of knowing anything about your account or player ability, I was just going to offer help if I was able to, but the point is moot.

    Open world PvE.

I'm not stupid enough to go anywhere near competitive modes with it.

To say it's unplayable for open world just sounds like a gearing/talent issue. I've run it fine and haven't had any issues. Would you mind sharing your build/gear/etc?

  22. I know you've said you aren't interested in doing any type of farm or work for your ascended accessories, but for what it's worth I think your Laurels could be better spent elsewhere. I only casually play the game from time to time and I have 3 full sets of ascended accessories/rings/neck/back etc pieces from just doing the LW zone farms and it really doesn't take that long to get.
