You are clearly stating that you only care for geting free loot every week in emobldened mode without any effort. This is exactly a reason why there is only 1wing with this mode rotating. If they would change so you have emoldened for every wing all the time they would have to cut rewards from it. You cant have  same rewards for same content where in one mode you can afk encounter and in other you have to put some effort and learn mechanics and group coordination... There would be no point to do harder difficulty.

It's not "arenanet wiki", it's "player's wiki". If color blindness is an issue, go ask for color blind mode. If players are light sensitive (and yet they're able to play the rest of the content of the game?), maybe working on their monitor settings could help. Someone not having time to play the game isn't a reason to change the game. If "computers are not rendering mechanics due to the game being over 10 years old"(???), make a thread in bug/technical support subforum. If you want free rewards, play some autoafker/clicker game instead. It was explained to you why it is like it is, not sure what you're still not understanding here.

I was making a suggestion based on talking to a friend who plays other games that have raids with a similar mechanic as Emboldened Mode.

I was simply suggesting to pick Emboldened Mode and not wait over a month to play the same raid.   I know that posting on forums is a solid way to get toxic responses instead of constructive conversation.   Thanks again for the toxic response.

Which they don't need emboldened mode for. If emboldened mode is always there, what's the point of them learning anything when they can just stack the buff instead. I don't think your argumentation is in line with your request.

I have given other comments outside of "learning mechanics" this is direct from the wiki, so you are arguing with Areanet wiki.    Why not quote the other ones,  Color Blindness not available in game,  Light sensitive players not seeing mechanics, physical disabilities due to age,  Limited time for gaming due to jobs and families, computers not rendering mechanics due to game being over 10 years old.

  3. I used CM as an example of how you can select the difficulty.

It was only a question and I was not implying it was only to learn mechanics,  I did say that on my first post mainly because that is part of the wiki.  However posts after that I also claimed people have disabilities and there is already other content in the game that allows you to pick the difficulty.   Emboldened Mode would kill raid sellers market and it would also hurt groups that require your account API in order to join their raid training.  It would not hurt the random lfg groups as they typically cover all the boons and healing and fill with dps.

The raids are story content, but I have honestly ran so many raids,  I simply skip over all the cut scenes as soon as they pop up.  However when I run a training raid with friends who have never done raiding content and they stop to watch all those cut scenes, it is content they have never seen and they have played since the start of Guild Wars 2.   They really appreciate the story content, because that is what they really like about the game. That is what Guild Wars 2 started as and has always been sold as,  a Living Story.  They also get a sense of accomplishment when they killed the boss with no stacks of emboldened.   Emboldened Mode simply helps to them to that goal.

Just a suggestion, I do not have anything against funnels.

I explained that in the post you just quoted there. Which part exactly requires further explaining?

So why not funnel CM's?  Change CM's to only work one per day.    That way you can funnel players wanting to do CM's

Your entire premise is flawed given you don't NEED emboldened mode to learn mechanics.

It was a question about why not be able to always choose the difficulty.   Not a question about funneling players, not sure where that is coming from.

    https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Emboldened
Emboldened (also known as Emboldened Mode) is an effect active in a single raid wing on a weekly rotation, effectively lowering the difficulty of each encounter and giving players a chance to familiarize themselves with each boss's mechanics.

Not every player is perfectly capable to do raids.  Some have sensitivity to bright flashes due to medical conditions.  Some are color blind and struggle to see mechanics.  Some people have difficulty using their hands properly and feel it is a burden if they are carried.  Some people do not see the mechanics because their computer simply does not render them or they do not see them.  I am not questioning why people struggle with playing 10 player content.

Is being able to choose which raid is emboldened hurtful to the game and player base?  Does it harm the game in any way to allow players to be able to choice the difficulty?   Or does being able to choose emboldened hurt funnels?

The idea of limiting emboldened mode is probably about funneling players wanting to try it out into one wing instead of splitting them between 7.
The idea of having CMs always available is for the players/groups to clear them weekly.

Why the limit though?   It seems being able to learn a raid mechanic every other month seems extremely limiting.  Also could you imagine learning trigonometry if you could only go to class a single day every other month?

I used CM is an example of a mechanic in the game which allows a player to change the difficulty.  Fractals allows you to choose the difficulty, you get level and CM.  Dungeons allows you to choose the difficulty, you get story and paths.

  7. CM is available for Raids / Strikes / Fractals - 100% of the time, simply by clicking a little glowing NPC.

Could Emboldened Mode work in a similar way as CM are?  Only recently learned that this type of mechanic exists in other games that have raiding and it is used as a way to learn the mechanics of the fight as well as see the raid.

    Just a thought.

  8. The only issue I ran into was the red zone for leaving the instance.  The Skyscale is hard enough to aim and fly around and swoop to take out turrets in the sky, now I had to worry about taking out the turret in the red zone that keeps killing me, will that kick me from the instance.   Also the demons figured out my weakness and went into the red zone to avoid combat.  I had to hop on my skyscale and shoot them from a distance.

The person that creates those red zones, a little breathing room would be cool.

  9. It says you can enter with a party of 10, aka a Raid party, but it only allows someone to connect solo.  If you try to join it will either do two things, kick the person in there or kick the people who attempt to join.  Is this broken or intentionally broken because it is bugged with groups?

  10. Beta Week  - Fail

Wrong Teams - such a waste of time and effort working with folks in my guild to work out running together and only a handful actually got paired with the guild.  The rest are completely random, we cannot find in connection at all with what server because none are with or against each other.

I consider this week out of all weeks a failure for teams and guilds.

  11. The change is cool, there were times I was attempting to find a place on where to host a squad that did not quite fit in and I simply put it in the category at the time.

Wish there was a way to hide the people selling.    I could not tell you how many times I go to click a group and I would click one of the sellers by accident because the list refreshed and the position changed. My current method is join the selling squad, block the person selling, leave the squad, and tada seller hidden.  I do like that feature very much.

  12. Look forward to taking it for a spin, it is always crowded in beta week.  Looking forward to playing with other members of my guild in WvW instead of fighting against them, don't get me wrong the 1v1 are always fun.   Fingers crossed the lag is not that bad.

Wish that Edge of the Mist got a little bit of love during these beta week testing, it is such an amazing map but has fallen off the radar during these tests.

    1. No, it does not make you "adjust" your damage, it let's you monitor it. Adjusting damage happens by learning a fight's mechanics and learning to play your spec.
    2. . . .
    3. Rewards are not linked to damage. WTH? 😂 If that was the case, no one would play support roles, and those playing support roles would receive worse loot than their teammates, which they do not.

I am sorry these are ArenaNets questions in the TOS for if you should use an addon, they present these questions to those who feel if an addon is allowed.  Those are my answers if you were confused.

Rewards are linked to damage from participation of the fight.  They recently updated rewards for support so they got more credit for healing, they were not and support players were complaining about it, which had been an issue and they did bring it up on a live stream talking about upcoming events.   I recommend you read all the patch notes for this game, the devs are amazing on what came out in past releases and fixes. There was a whole section just for Dungeon fixes that came out, I mean a lot of Dungeon bug fixes and changes.

My issue is not with DPS (Damage Per Second < Just incase you did not know)  my thoughts are with those,  including myself, do not wish to use addons.   Since there is already a DPS meter built into the game in the Test Area, the DPS meter is already in the game.   Why not add it to the chat window as an option, a simple checkbox.  You could also add it into the squad info, a simple checkbox or squad command.   /squadinfo or /supplyinfo are two commands that allow the squad leader to see information about players in the squad.

This conversation has run its course for me.

    End of Line.

  14. We do not permit the use of any program that gives one player an unintended, unnatural, or unfair advantage over another player. This includes programs that alter game balance in favor of one player over another, automate actions within the game, promote unattended gameplay, or have an adverse effect on other players.

"Does this program allow someone to play faster, better, longer, or more accurately than someone who doesn't use the program?"
Yes, it allows a player to more accurately adjust their damage in different boss fights, than someone not using the same third-party addon.

"Does this program allow someone to 'play' when he/she is not at the computer?"
    No

"Does this program allow the user to gain unnatural or undeserved rewards?"
Since damage is linked to reward, and if they used the addon to adjust their damage so they did more damage, than yes.

While I have no real opinion of adding a dps meter to the game proper due to arc filling in the info gap. What hard enrages on bosses are even relevant now, with the exception of a couple strike CMs?

ArcDPS is a third party addon.   ArcTemplates was a third party addon.
The difference is the 4k+ players that were still using ArcTemplates, were banned soon after Template were introduced into the game.
ArcDPS not part of the original conversation, that I was in when this was merged into 10 other conversations.
The merged thread about them adding it to the game and the need for it to be in the game outside of a test golem in the raid area in Lions arch.

  16. It is a joy when these DPS Meter conversations get merged with another conversation.   When the game introduced an enraged timer with Raids, they introduced enraged timers in other encounters.   By introducing enraged timers you merged the player that simply was happy to play the game with those who played competitive and trying to peak out their damage and their uptimes.   By doing this the dynamics for the player that was simply happy playing the game and picked weapons not on highest dps or highest boon duration but simply because they worked months making a legendary weapon that they liked or they simply used the gear that kept them alive when playing open world solo.

Now the catch with enraged timers is.  You have to reach the DPS cap in order to kill the boss or you lose.   This change forced the player that simply played the game to enjoy their time to play with the player that enjoyed the top damage or the top boon support. Previously the way the game did this before enraged timer is open world bosses is you had to do the mechanics of the fight.   ArenaNet said in one of their Live streams before the release of HoT that they would not add a DPS meter into the game because they did not want to create an elitist environment.   Yet they kept the mechanic of an enrage timer in the game, which created the need to have top DPS to beat the enraged timer.   Any PvE player that builds out a class in the game that can solo survive PvE can take on a raid or strike or any PvE content, but most if not all of those tanky builds cannot reach the dps check to kill the boss before enrage timer.

It is simple math, Enraged Timer = DPS meter.   The game should add a DPS meter or remove enraged timers from the bosses.  This is why you have the squeaky wheels here on the forum, which is up to 12 pages without an admin freezing it because it has run its course.

  17. I choose not to use any addon due to the games TOS.  Yes there is a forum where one dev talks about using a DPS meter and not once in that post does he refer to the one that people use.  This is also the same forum that people lean on as to why the DPS meter is allowed.

I ran in a group the other day a player skipped all the mechanics and wanted to be healed through everything so that they could sit on the boss, that is not how mechanics work.  They left the run right after the fight due to saying people had low DPS, I suspect because people were not standing in fire and avoiding AOE damage.

I personally consider ArcDPS gives people an advantage over those not using it, so I choose not to use it.  I simply practice my rotations on the practice golem in the Raid area.  I keep getting invited to Raids and apparently I am doing a lot of damage because the raid leader will say that was a fast run, but that is the only feedback I will get from them.  People are also surprised on my view because of how I practice, but for me the practice is doing that without something showing me consistently.  I do wish there was a test golem in WvW like the raid area so I could test damage there, but sadly there is not.

Some are toxic. Some are cool. It is just something you will run into in any game.

  18. Remember before Mega Servers you could go into Lions Arch and call out in map to call on people to go into WvW.   Too bad there is not a chat in Central Tyria or even in the major cities were you could call out help or form a group of just your WvW servers.  Kind of like how Team chat works in WvW, like a way to rally the troops without being in WvW.
