You know what, if you are enjoying the game mode and its current state then power to you! Go out and have a blast. Some of us stuck around long past the expiration date and the milk is definitely sour. I don't want to be too bitter about it but I think after the recent announcement that will probably be it unless a miracle happens. I'm the last of a bunch that left because I held some hope that things may change, I don't really see that in the future but I will check in from time to time. Good luck and have fun to you all.

Right there from the beginning, my how times have changed. I don't really play anymore for all the reasons mentioned above.

O p, this is the rub really isn't it? There is no point in winning , for server at least so it boils down to Guild Pride, which arenanet has consistently failed to recognize as a valid combat or competition format.
Currently you have servers that are merged with long dead servers that try to remain with some semblance of pride and you have the remnants of the OG WVW player base roaming in Mercenary guilds that simply look for fights which are contrary to those who look to defend. The Guild groups massively outclass and outskill any pugs and immediately send them running back to Siege and walls and PPT so invariably they end up frustrated and shifting servers to find more fights, the cycle continues ad infinitum.
There is no winning in this game mode, the best of the best players are already in their groups and they are not going anywhere everybody else is just meat for the grinder and well aware of it. So it's half PVP half Tower Defense, welcome to WVW

The real trick in my opinion is not to move forward but to roll back, WVW was its greatest before the first expansion, before the devs felt the need to tickle and tweak based on PVE, it will never be that way again, but it's a hell of a sight better than what we're dealing with now

No it needs plain and simple balance, some care and attention to detail taken by developers that actually care what is going on. That is literally all it needs along with listening to the concerns of the player base that actually plays WVW as opposed to snowflakes who played PVE.

I used to be hardcore, but this game has been taken over by snowflakes and people who demand the bar get lowered to their ability as opposed to trying to get better.

At first I was irritated, but then I just kind of sat back and started doing the collections and I'm going to be honest, it hasn't been that bad. It's actually been kind of enjoyable to revisit areas I haven't been to in a while, possibly do a quest chain that I had skipped previously. It really hasn't been that awful, it is something to do in a game that is all about repetitive meta's.

Not going to lie I was a bit irritated with the time gate of the beginning however I've been puttering Along on this collection chain and I haven't found it too bad, I've even enjoyed revisiting some areas I haven't been to in a while. It's not that bad to be honest. Haven't used to guide since the eggs and it's been pretty fun

So like, worlds are being restructured or something? There was no TL:DR, didn't bother with the last 53 PAGES of griping.
This is Anet kids, it's not like this is happening anytime soon, and based off past performance we will see 2 more Xpacs out before this even smells like reality. There will be at least 6-7 months of hype for everyone to figure their stuff out.

You know, I fell for that mesmers pull a couple of times. Then I learned to respect certain groups that use it and change my strat. Hasn't caught me since.
Ran with those same groups and I can tell you they only look for the noobs that obviously have no clue.

I just want to point out that this is the first and only thread in the WvW forums that has remained somewhat civil.
While I understand some peoples attachment to their servers community but it is undeniable that the current system is on the decline. The simple fact we had to have linkings proves this. While this solution may seem heavy handed to those types it is a dynamic way to solve many of the problems that those same people have been on this forum complaining about.

Quick break down: starting as of right now, there are talks no doubt between the largest and most avid (and "elite") WvW guild leaders agreeing to ally. Seriously. Its happening in anticipation of this. This is going to further breed the "my way or the highway" among those guilds. Now sure, those of us that don't ascribe to that can just deal with getting bounced around to where ever and with whomever for these match ups, but ultimately why should we care?
Literally nothing in this system is about being a part of a steady community. "oh boy, I have pride in my Pink Shoopuffs team for the next 2 months, then boom, guess I'm now on team Grumble Bear. Woohoo." It doesn't matter. In fact it will matter even less after this change. This game was already anti-small guilds and now this will kill them even more.
Why is that? Simple, a small guild has no hope of being as effective as a larger guild in WvW as it is with the changes you've made to guilds and now only large WvW guilds will be desirable for alliances to ensure proper map coverage and play.
Its bad enough now that I exclusively roam by myself most days because my server was gutted by the megaservers and our pairings already shift on reg to the point that I have almost no one that I know in WvW anymore, and now I have to hope some algorithm might place me on the same team as the people I at least still share a server with currently.
SMH. I guess I'll just stick to occasional veteran creature killing and a random dolyak or camp snipe. Yay...
Of course guilds are already rallying to form alliances, but in case you haven't been paying attention one of the beautiful things about guilds in this game is with alliances also come huge egos. How many times have you seen Elite fighting guilds form and then blow up a month later once the egos Clash. This will nowbe happening on a larger scale, this makes it more exciting if anything
