  1. Reaper - "Nothing Can Save You!" - 16-second cooldown, 1/2 second cast time, up to 11 unblockable hits, 6 vuln, removes 2 boons, 10-second duration. Best one. It has the shortest cooldown, longest duration, most unblockable hits, applies vuln, AND removes boons all in one. 

    Warrior - Signet of Might - 20-second cooldown, NO cast time, applies 10 might, and has 6-second duration. This also has a passive so there is always a benefit of 180 power when it is not used

    Ranger - Signet of the Hunt - 20 second cooldown, NO cast time, applies 3+ seconds of superspeed, with 6-second duration. This also has a passive so there is always a benefit of 25% movement speed when it is not used

    Elementalist - Relentless Fire - 20 second cooldown, 1/4 second cast time, 5-8 second duration depending on presence of fire sphere, + 15% dmg. This has NO passive. It has a cast time so it CANNOT be used while using other skills unlike warrior and ranger. Has a longer cooldown than the only other skill on this list with a cast time, and unlike necro it does no damage even though it has a cast time. Elementalist's damage comes mainly from multi-hits which makes this less effective.

  2. There are so many issues with the core game that need to be fixed. Among them are:

    Projectiles that have such poor tracking that them actually hitting is rng. Look at war axe vs ranger axe.

    Classes without an elite spec for each class of utility skill. Where is my elite signet on ele? Elite Arcane?

    Weapons/traits/utility skills that have never seen the light of day in serious PVP. 

    Increased build diversity starting from the CORE game. I'm not saying everyone should be able to play their class core at the highest levels, but it makes no sense that if someone wants to do high damage they have to choose one expac, but if they want to do condi they have to choose a different one. If someone loves the playstyle of one expac (or none) they should have at least some level of playstyle diversity available to them.

    And nerf test of faith dmg by at least 33% ty.

  3. This seriously cannot be the new weapon we all waited 2 years for...

    I play mostly competitive game modes (PvP/Wvw) and I am not sure how well it performs in PvE, but I hear it is also currently among the worst performers.

    In terms of viability, I looked through each of the base 3 skills (with no bullets) and all the dual attuned skills and it seems like each dual attuned skill is simply worse than either (and both) of its component base 3 skills. 

    Fire 3: up to 3 burn, insignificant base dmg Water 3: 1.5 seconds of chill and a frost field, insignificant dmg Fire/Water: ...1 burn and 2 seconds of bleed

    Air 3: 3 seconds of weakness and 2 seconds of blind Fire/Air: 5 vuln and 2 seconds of blind?

    Earth 3: 5 bleed and 1 second of immob Fire/Earth: 1 burn 2 bleed...

    Earth/Water: up to 2 bleed

    Air/Water: Regeneration and an evade

    Earth/Air: Weakness and cripple...

     

    For comparison... scepter air 3 blinds and gives weakness (longer duration than pistol air 3 for both with a shorter cooldown and is NOT a projectile, can be facing any direction) scepter earth 3 blinds for 6 seconds and applies 1.5 seconds of cripple each pulse (and is aoe). Earth/air scepter: 1,5 seconds of stun and two hits. See how it is transformed and adds utility?

     

    The damage is quite bad. I haven't seen or heard of a good build yet for pistol elementalist on any game mode. It cannot heal, it cannot do power damage, and it doesn't provide a single new condition, boon, affect, UI change, or anything else to differentiate it from any other weapon, in competitive modes it does NOT synergize with any established build (i.e. fresh air, sage, lightning rod, signets, etc) and it does not open the possibility for any new build. Can a dev please take the time to explain how this weapon is supposed to work or what the design philosophy was? I'm lost for words and deeply disappointed.

  4. I also feel like there has been no thought to dual-attuned skills AT ALL since the launch of Weaver? Hammer dual-attuned AND pistol dual-attuned just feel like the exact same skills as the core skills with slightly different numbers whereas all the core weapons + sword legitimately feel like new skills when compared to the core 3 skills. It feels like there was less than 1 hour of thought and exactly 0 ounces of creativity in designing these skills.

    Please....tell me what these "best" utilities are?  Let's do some basic math shall we from a core perspective: 4 consecrations, 4 spirit weapons, 4 signets, 3 shouts, 3 meditations are all pretty terrible.  This out of 27 total core skills(healing, utility and elite combined) and 18 are terrible.  This is roughly 66% of the total skills being useless but sure, best of all.  

    Revenant’s hammer problems actually do eclipse any of Guardian’s problems. Revenant hammer has never been viable in sPvP. Not even close. You cannot say that for any incarnation of guardian or any of its weapons.

    Necro has been top-tier meta in probably every patch since AT LEAST HoT. Every team has almost always run at least 1 necro. Necro has historically had MULTIPLE viable builds at times other classes at 1 or less.

    If you've played the game this long, and you can't even do basic research when you make a post saying "GYUYS I HYAV THE EVYIDENCE ELE IS TRASH", I am not even remotely inclined to believe you.

    Don't care + didn't ask. This wasn't really about any class other than elementalist anyway.

    Threads such as this aren't deserved when there are those that are FAR worse-off.

    to date. Something gets pushed, it's omegabusted, then it gets nerfed to worse than it was just so the mechanic that made it omegabusted doesnt have to get reverted, sometimes dragging off meta builds that were kinda, maybe sorta working kicking and screaming as it goes.

    Then it should do melee damage. Some of my best fights are vs nuke eles. I would love to see more of that as long as their nuking can be interrupted and doesnt come from across the map with magnetic skills that follow you around before landing, forcing you to dodge-

    I miss d/d. Not the cele one, the buzzsaw one.

    Thief, engineer, and necro have had at least 1 meta build almost (if not) every patch since at least HoT. War is in a very strong state. This post isn't just about poor balancing, but the class's design as a whole.

    Anet and their stupid fan boys can't decide what Ele they want so we play pin the tail on the Ele every major update until Ele mains move to another class or drop the game entirely.     CMC isn't really a main because if he was, he would've been able to answer all of this with actual good reason, but instead we have annoying Ranger mains and God knows who else acting like they are suddenly grimjack and know what they are speaking about. 

     

    Ele is gonna be stuck on the hamster wheel permanently as a binary heal support or this crappy condi bruiser whatever hybrid they think is fun when its really not. I rather gut condi altogether and just bring back FA, then tweak from there. And for the long of God I wish they could destroy Cata because the class is one of the worst designed specs. Reminds me of when everyone said Daredevil is just an upgrade to core thief. That's basically Cata to Core Ele. 

    Well-said 🙂 I like my naggy/complainy tone more than your reasoned tone, though.

    I won't delve further into your rant as you make it obvious that you have absolutely no clue about what elementalist can or cannot do.

    Does cleansing fire remove boons? lol. Also, this is about core ele WITHOUT relics/sigils as I mentioned. The protection bit was about specifically trait lines, which I thought was clear.

  16. Elementalist is so poorly designed that when the genius that made the signet trait change realized how stupid that was every Elementalist build that exists got nerfed. Earth is just as bad and unusable as before (lmfao??)

    Facts: There is no way to get protection on the game's glassiest class outside of elite specs, arcane, and earth. There is no way to get vigor outside of elite specs, arcane, and water.

    Earth is unusable in competitive modes. What, exactly, is ementalist supposed to do with earth traitline outside of tempest?

    Elementalist (and I think engineer?) are the only classes without the ability to remove boons without assistance from relics/sigils. Most warhorn skills are uncompetitive for dmg builds. The changes to core sword were horrible. 

    Why do war and ranger spam endure pain and ele can't, when ele is 3x glassier? 

    Why is there literally no way outside of Lightning Hammer to provide ele quickness on core builds?

    Why are arcane utility skills unusable? Why is the trait so bad?

    Why are glyphs so bad?

    Why are CONJURES (with the exception of earth shield) LEGITIMATELY unusable? Have you seen how frostbow plays? It's a joke. You can't land any skill if you tried. I think one of the skills has a 4 second cast time?

    Why change the QoL of Dragonhunter's LB 5, but not staff ele's meteor shower? 

    Why is staff still so bad?

    How come if you want to play anything on weaver except fire/arcane you have either no dmg, NO CLEANSES, or both?

    Why are all the core elites unusable?

    Why are most of the core heals unusable still?

    Is there ever going to be a QoL patch for elementalist? 

    Why did you effectively remove the dodge on burning speed with its QoL change?

    WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THE SIGNETS CHANGE LOL???????

    Why is the projectile block on dagger earth 2 so horrible??? The frame starts AFTER you initiate it, and you are often still affected by projectiles when you're using it, especially in fast-paced interactions (all of them in current year)

    Why are augments so poor??! Why is it that elementalist is the only class with a 10 unblockable hits utility skill that 1. requires a cast (lmao??) 2. is locked behind catalyst?

    Again, why are arcane utility skills unusable??? If you compare the dmg they do and their utility to literally any other utility with similar functionality (i.e. mesmer mantras) it is the worst of them all by far. 

    Why does Elementalist, the game's glassiest class, have no access to aegis? WHY DOES BLADESWORN HAVE AEGIS AND ELE DOES NOT LOL

    Why can't core elementalist access superspeed outside of sword, lightning hammer, (lol) and air trait line? Now that melee powerhouses like engi and war spam superspeed elementalist is obsolete. 

    Why does deadeye literally have stealth on dodge AND CAN REMOVE REVEALED, but elementalist is rendered useless by chill? 

    Why is elemtalist the only class rendered useless by a single condition? And then rendered dead by confusion...

    Why are so many traits in tempest so horrible STILL? What, exactly, are we supposed to do with Latent Stamina on tempest? With it with we can finally dodge as much as revenant, but now we trade off all damage (because that playstyle is incompatible with the overload playstyle, so no stability or protection either) and our dodges accomplish less than classes who were designed to dodge (deadeye and daredevil, mirage, vindicator and shiro revenant, etc.) What I find insane is how legitimately every traitline with an endurance trait ALSO has a trait that improves the functionality of the dodge WITH THE EXCEPTION OF TEMPEST AND EARTH TRAIT LINE LOL. Think strength warrior's reckless dodge, rousing resilience, building momentum, and might makes right. Think mirage cloak. Think daredevil's endurance thief and all gm traits. 

    I can really keep going (obviously).
