Game worked fine a week ago on Pop OS. Now the launcher crashes and I'm not even able to re-install the game anymore. What happened?

Can't install, neither when I had it installed get to open the game as the launcher just crashes when opened. It was working fine for as long as I've had Pop Os installed which is 3-4 months I think. And now it just suddenly won't work anymore. Have seen some forum posts here, but haven't had Linux for long and not really getting why it talks about Pacman on the forum post

How to setup GW2 on linux (after 19/7)

 

Tried to do what it said, but ended up just playing some Pacman game when using the commands the forum post told to use. Gw2 launcher is still just crashing.

I've tried to install through Lutris, and the other way to install Gw2 shown here on the forum. Both ways the launcher just crash. Not tempting to reformat my pc all over again for the 3rd time to get Gw2 to work again. It has happened once before. Then I switched from Zorin 16 to Pop OS.

Pacman is Arch Linux packet manager, if you're not using Arch you should NOT use those commands.

 

July 19th patch broke the game on Linux, many solutions have been found and this is the thread you should look at.

Easiest solution for your situation IMO is try using Steam to launch GW2 as non-steam game, see if it works.

For me also using Pop_OS the one that worked for me was installing via lutris. After i made sure i downloaded Lutris wine runner:lutris-fshack-7.2-x86_64 and set it as default runner. Game installed and i havent had any issues since. Hardware wise im running a much lower spec laptop with a nvidia 1050 3gb and i am not having any problems with the game via lutris. So might work for you aswell. OH i also grabbed the .exe and added it via the add locally installed game option not from the seach lutris for installer option. That one failed to install everytime
