Why does everything always boil down to "pay not to play"?

If you feel you're "wasting your time" on a gameplay mechanic, then either do something else you feel is worthy of your time, or better still suggest constructive ways in which the mechanic could be improved. Don't just suggest you want to throw your credit card at it. That's a lazy solution and doesn't help the game improve.

And yes, the crafting system could use an overhaul. The actual levelling speed isn't that slow if you pick the right items to craft, but the required materials and steps can often be unnecessarily convoluted, excessive or fussy and there's a few material bottlenecks they need to review.

They need to streamline things and update for the availability of materials in the current game. Plus overhaul recipes so they are relevant to the level at which they are gained and able to be crafted (so players can craft level appropriate gear more easily).

Fair enough, but I think that a GUI overhaul would be enough. The crafting system that the GUI operates is fine, the obsolete and clunky GUI is the real problem imo.
