  1. Time tinkering is nothing new. The Bonus Mission Pack did something similar in GW1, with missions going in both prequel and sequel directions from the regular in-game timeline. The entirety of GW1's pre-Searing Ascalon itself exists outside the main timeline, too. However in GW2, I think Fractals are intended to serve the "interesting scenario that's not developed enough for a full xpack" purpose (like Urban Battleground, etc). I doubt they would do something like that for the main storyline/OW when they already have a framework for exploring all sorts of quick one-off (group-oriented) scenarios via Fractals.
  2. This. Now all we need are Invisible Cat shoulders, gloves and a helm to extend that functionality, since they don't seem to be in any hurry to make those toggles work per-build instead of character-wide.
  3. This issue has been around for so long without being fixed that at this point, it might just as well be considered a "feature" of the spec instead of a bug. 🤷‍♂️
  4. Your optimism is admirable, but I'd call "12 more years" implausible at best. How much of the game would be unplayable due to faulty scaling, or simply not scaled at all? Big parts of what we now think of as routine content (meta events, world bosses, etc) would become unplayable due to reduced player population. There's nothing to buy. The follow-on (damage control) claim was that it was under consideration. That's not even as far along as WvW Alliances, which they've variously claimed to be working on -- before they recently dropped the whole idea so no more "working on it," I suppose. GW3 does not now exist, and since this is ANet it may never exist.
  5. That first point makes it sound like you're asking for Total War: Tyria. That wouldn't be an MMORPG so the "split the playerbase" issue might not matter, but then the question is "what does the Guild Wars IP bring to the RTS space that isn't duplicative, making it viable enough commercially to commit resources?" I'm not sure there's a good answer for that. As for the second part (which combines to one issue really), it's more along the lines of keeping up technologically in order to attract developer talent, not necessarily about chasing the latest gaming trends. The game was designed for old hardware and Windows OS specifications, both of which have moved on substantially since then. There comes a point when either the hardware or the OS offers features that old software simply cannot utilize, or vice versa. People may not have the training, skills or interest to work on older platforms, and then there's the issue of basically doing nothing new, but simply modifying an existing codebase. That would tend to limit creativity, or at least lock it into parameters that were defined over a decade ago. A new game would provide a clean slate not only for gameplay and storytelling, but for software structure and design.
  6. What NCSoft statement, and where? If it was linked here from an official company source I didn't see it. Citation please? Third-party publications are not authoritative. If it's not directly from NCSoft or ANet, I'm skeptical.
  7. First off, anyone who says they're quitting the game over a vague, machine-translated post on a third-party gaming site was already looking for an excuse to leave anyway. Don't let the door hit you on your way out. Second, why should anyone expect that this claim of a GW3 being worked on means anything? Alliances, anyone? Granted they will probably be pressured to say something official since lots of the streamers are piling on (even though they have their own clickbait incentives to hype such "news"), but nothing is official until it comes directly from ANet, specifically addressing this topic on its own instead of having it come up in the context of reporting a bunch of other performance metrics.
  8. Based on the streamers hustling out videos about it? 😆
  9. IDK, the Fiery Dragon Sword skin is so iconic in the game (plus it's a great light source) that it's cool to have it available via the HoM. I also still like the Heritage Light armor skins, but of course "ugly" or not is always a matter of taste. Gotta admit, I miss my Vabbian Light armor.
  10. There's very little content to interact with, true. But I would like to see at least a few upgrades that have been mentioned above: Allow all classes full access to all 3 UW weapon types Remove the utility skill disabilities to enable their use Tweak a few traits to add some UW synergies Realistically, I'd be happy with just the first one.
  11. True enough (I almost never do), but the fishing portal has its own travel utility for fee-free jumps to lots of destinations throughout the game instead of just a select few, whether or not you're traveling there for the purpose of fishing. That intercontinental travel convenience plus the workbench were the deciding factors in my purchase, and the compact layout is a plus. The only real annoyance is the Mystic Toilet being right in the way, mainly because of its transform feature. YMMV.
  12. Those would be nice additions, but where exactly would they go? There's basically no room in the main area, they'd have to go down to ground/sea level. The Pavilion is already the easiest way for new characters to open up large sections of the map via the fishing portal, as well as providing easy access to a Jade Bot Workbench which most other lounges don't have. I doubt they're likely to change it.
  13. Do you mean the wiki itself as a standalone site, or do you mean this performance issue happens when launched from the /wiki chat command? If the first, then it's community-driven as discussed above. If it's the invoked-from-chat-window thing, that might indeed be a dev issue.
  14. Doubtful. If anything, I'd call Ectos a far more likely "backbone" than completed legendaries of any generation given their ubiquitous requirement for crafting anything of any consequence.
