Titanium Argentum.1427 Posted February 12 Share Posted February 12 When you see guild emblems maked with new symbols, many (more than 50) are broken/missing in the api. This cause many people have difficult to show their guild emblems in their social channels. If you choose for example the guild "Guild Wars Roamers" the api only show the old part of the emblem, but cant show the new symbols. This situation can damage the full variety of the emblem editor in Guild Wars 2, because people only choose emblems showed with the api. Parasite.5389 Posted February 13 Share Posted February 13 (edited) Guild Emblems work fine in-game. the website you've cited hasn't been updated since 2022, and has likely not updated their own code. do you have any other examples of websites that fail to display emblems correctly that has been updated more recently? fooey.5824 Posted February 16 Share Posted February 16 (edited) Hiya, I run guilds.gw2w2w.com, but I didn't do the original work to convert the emblems to svg, that was done by mtodor all the way back in 2013 https://github.com/mtodor/gw2emblem Back then, there were 256x256 easily machine traceable png versions of the emblems on the wiki which I believe were used https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Guild_emblem_001.png See the white and red version on black, which allowed for getting the different layers needed to reproduce the emblems. So far as I've been able to find, that kind of export hasn't ever existed for the newer emblems, but it's been a long time since I've tried converting any of them to SVG myself https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Guild_emblem_312.png However, I believe the API now provides enough that in theory I'd be able to render PNGs instead. It's much more work and server intensive compared to the SVG's I'm doing now though.
