Returning player looking for a home [NA]

I primarily play PVE, though I would like to dabble in WVW at some point - currently I am on Sea of Sorrows, but may be willing to transfer if I find the right guild. I've played off and on over the past 8 years, but have not done much in the way of group content, as I have mostly played solo or with just my husband, outside of open world metas/farming.

I am looking for a casual guild, where doing my own thing is cool, but where I might also make some friends that I have the option to play with. I am a bit shy/quiet, though that gets better as I get more comfortable. As I said, there is a lot of content I have not done, so I think I would prefer a group that is patient and newbie friendly, as I would have a lot to learn. Also, I am in Central time.

I run a casual PvE centric pre-launch guild. Most of us are older, at least of the regulars. We do a lot of stuff, but we're most active on voice. It's not a requirement however.

It's called Wardens of Destiny. We're on Tarnished Coast for WvW and we're somewhat active there as well. We even have a few PvPers in the guild. The only thing we don't really do as a guild is raid.

Sounds like a nice guild, however I forgot to mention that I strongly dislike voice chat. I don't mind getting on to listen as needed for group stuff, but if that is the primary means of communication/activity, then I don't think it is the right fit for me. Thank you for the response, though!

If that's the case, Alythara, you might be interested in the guild I lead, Café Solidarity. Currently, we only use voice chat for our Raids And Strikes (RAS) Training group, and people aren't required to talk if they don't want to. There's a group that does sPvP sometimes, and they hang out in voice at times, but otherwise, we use Discord text channels and guild chat as our primary means of communication. (There's more about that here in our recruitment thread.)

We also have a group that dabbles in WvW, and they're on Isle of Janthir. They're very kind and friendly, so it's very low stress.

We do require 80% rep (so, displaying our guild tag next to your name at least 80% of the time you're in game, not counting times when you're in WvW or PvP), but we don't actually require people to attend any activities or force people to do things with us. We have people who really like being in our guild, but they prefer to do their own thing a lot of the time, and they're totally welcome. Our events are posted in Eastern time, but many of us are in Central time, so that sounds like that would fit well.

It sounds like you might like my little home. We're called The Gryphons Aerie and we’re a very small (approx 55 members), 18+, casual/semi-casual, social and close-knit, PvE family on Tarnished Coast. As long as you're on a NA-based server, you'll be able to tag along with us in our adventures; we don't do any serious participation in WvsW. Our current peak time tends to be in the mid-late evening EST (UTC-5), starting around reset, but we have a few others who are around from a variety of other time zones as well. We try to have a mix of scheduled events and random things during the week according to what folks want to do. We also love helping both new and returning players get back on their feet.

We’re willing to help out with any and all questions as best as we can, whether it's dungeons/Fractals, builds, and other general game questions. All you need to do is ask. We also don’t do the “speed runs”, exploits, etc, nor require anyone to bring a specific class or build for any dungeon run. Bring whatever you want and we'll have fun regardless.

We know that RL comes first and stress that fact.We’ll still be there even if you can’t for a bit of time. Just leave a little note to let us know you'll be away, and all is well.

We do not demand 100% representation.It’s not our business to tell you who you can and cannot associate with; that choice is yours alone.

We are focused on providing a place where people can feel comfortable and as though they are more than just a name on the roster. We want everyone to feel like family.We are very LGBTQ+ affirmative and do not tolerate any sort of derogatory words, comments, bigotry etc. toward anyone regardless of nationality, race, religious beliefs, gender identity or sexuality. Anyone violating that policy is subject to immediate removal, no questions asked.

We also have a Discord, where everyone is expected to use the text channels to some degree, but the voice channels are never required.

In order to maintain our "quality vs. quantity" aspect and help build the family-like atmosphere of the guild, we require an application. This application asks only for basic information to help us try to organize things to fit around everyone's schedules and takes just a few minutes.
