Soulbeast Runes toughness bonus not triggering

Like title says. Been kidding with these runes in pvp a bit, but it seems there is no way i can get the bonus to trigger(bonus toughness when i have no active pets). Maybe i'm not understanding the wording of it at all. What do i actually have to do for these runes to work?

Beastmode button above your health bar (F5 I believe) used to merge and unmerge with your pet.

Active pet means you are not merged with your pet. Your pet is out attacking with you.

No active pet means you are merged with your pet. Your pet goes away and isn't fighting alongside you, until you exit beastmode.

You need to enter beastmode (merging with your pet) to have the toughness bonus from the rune set. If you are not merged with your pet, you gain an increase to condition damage instead.

Also note, if you are downed while merged with your pet, you will be automatically forced out of beast mode and your pet will reappear, which will allow you to have your pet rally you by using the Lick Wounds downed skill.

If using Soulbeast runes on any profession other than ranger, I assume you would only get the toughness bonus due to not having a ranger pet at all. It could be a bug if that's not how it's working.

Edit: Are you using the Soulbeast runes on a ranger/soulbeast, or a different profession?

Going by superior rune of the ranger, temporary NPC allies summoned with utility/elite skills, or items, count as pets, and so do necromancer minions.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Superior_Rune_of_the_Soulbeast The wiki doesn't mention anything about this for the Soulbeast rune (6) set bonus. But it's possible that is what's happening. Basically, if you're using a necro with minions, it could be you are getting the condition damage increase instead of toughness due to your minions being counted as pets.

I've never used Soulbeast runes, so I can't verify anything.

@Charrbeque.8729 Hmm, thank you for the reply! Well, i noticed this failure while using them on ranger. Tried to merge, no bonus appears in the stats panel. Same when i manage to get my pet killed. I guess i will try and report this to support in the bug category or something. The bonus could be working while stats panel does not update, but i cannot be sure xD.

Not showing in the attributes in the hero panel was my next guess. And considering I have that exact issue for a different rune set, it's quite possible you are gaining the toughness but it doesn't show up in your stats for some reason.

I can confirm it as a hero panel bug. It doesn't know to update when the merge/unmerge action occurs.You can get a preview of what your toughness is merged by merging and unequipping/re-equipping one of your armor pieces to force the update.
