Minis and dye Mystic Forge Unlock: Request/Question

I was wondering if there's any particular reason why dyes and minis don't unlock in the Mystic Forge like armor and weapons do. For dyes, it's not the worst thing in the world, but for some minis, like Mini Foostivoo the Merry or Mini Super Assassin, you have to use other minis to make it, and if you don't have the minis to make it unlocked, you pretty much have to buy them all twice if you want to unlock everything. =<

If it's possible, can this be changed? Or if it can't, I'd like to know why.

Minis And Dyes are consumed when added to your account. Therefore it wouldn't be possible to use them for something else.If you unlock a weapon or armor-skin, the associated item becomes account-bound. That still leaves you the possibility to salvage it or use it in the mystic forge etc. .The unlocking of weapon/armor-skins while salvaging an item or using it in the mystic forge is just a convenience-function for the players because they could have done both anyway.

Ah I see, good point. It still would be lovely if they were unlocked upon use, it's a bit of turn off to buy Gem Store mini's for me as a result of this.

Many(possibly most) of the gem store exclusive minis can't be used in the forge anyway. Some can be used for specific recipes.
