It already has a "clip clop" sound when moving. ANet could probably make a lot of money on a horses skin pack. Alternately, if they're never added that's OK too -- I just bought ESO and there are lots of horses there.

You know what I would say sure sounds fine, except that I don't think anyone would accept that a pony just jumped about 30 meters over a canyon unless the skin was Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron, but that poses it's own copyright/trademark issues.Honestly I think we have a better chance of getting a pegasus skin for the griffin as they're both ancient mythological creatures nobody can claim ownership over.

That's why I suggested a horse skin for the warclaw earlier in this topic. They're roughly the same shape and don't have any weird abilities which would seem out of place for a horse, even the gate pull is the player throwing a grappling hook.

Yeah I could go along with that. Tbh I'm surprised some people aren't taking into account the work the animators would have to do with new skins to fit existing base models, I'm not %100 on the animation jargon but I know it's easier to pull around the mesh frame than edit the skeleton inside it, another problem with putting a horse skin on a raptor frame is that the raptor has 2 arms and 2 legs, not 4 legs. Which is why pegasus skin for griffin would work.

It was great it felt like a challenge and a real achievement so it shouldn't be too easy to get it, but if you start with the mats at zero or no higher than double digits going around the same map for more than the 5th time to farm on a single character across all required maps it is just not fun anymore.

I'm on same opinion, but ..50 more or 50 less..I mean.. common, it's not going to change the world.. but it will make it more pleasant, for sure. Besides lws4 maps are great-never expected so many events and nice content. So go guys, do it. There are nice ascended goodies too, so farm a bit more then ;) (lol, don't kill me)

Before I forget - Apologies to Anet for being too harsh. Overall great collection and lws4 content. Thanks to the collection I actually discovered it (ashamed, I know).

Just maybe next time set expectations right and hide the grind behind some nice story/item WITH intermediate rewards to keep the interest. Remember, not everyone likes to make legendaries.

P.S. make map completion to reward 25 everywhere. ASAP please, no reason and excuse for exceptions.

Not trying to be rude, but I'd appreciate it if you quoted me in full so my words won't potentially get taken out of context.I agree the map completion rewards could be better, but I disagree with "lws4 maps are great-never expected so many events and nice content" not because you're not right for the first or second time you do them and they're still fresh, but because you're wrong after the novelty has worn off. Even the quick go-cheer-up-dredge one in THP was feeling mentally painful in the end as I must have done it 9, 10, or 11 times over by the time I got the stack of Branded mass. It was definitely an aspect of the collection that required more variety, and that's all I'm asking for really. ?‍♂️

We got to "pick" our own egg to carry around for all the collections, but not really. I wish we truly would have been able to pick 1 of 21 slightly different sized and colored eggs. The resulting Skyscale could be 50/50 male or female, with the pronoun Gorrik chooses determining what sex we got. We could also have a different randomized base color for our baby Skyscale (which would be changeable once the mount is unlocked, but still). It would personalize OUR chosen Skyscale a little bit.

You just reminded me of Creatures, a game I played in the 90's. I'd have loved that option. It would be a real nostalgia trip.

I phrased this abysmally imo so I'll just put it another way, it's a fun challenge to get the collection done as a whole, but this bit was awful, not hard, running around a map to mine and do a few hearts is easy. It's just awful in that the most difficult thing was remembering there's a light at the end of the tunnel somewhere as you know eventually through attrition gameplay you will get the 250 stack just by sticking at it long enough, but holy moly it is dull and long winded. Also I changed my mind on voting to reduce. It's probably too late to reduce map currency requirement as it would be a slap in the face of everyone who grinded for the 250 but I hope the devs take this as constructive criticism as there are better and more fun things to rinse and repeat if they ever do another collection like this.

  5. Me and a few family members all had the same problem recently my number had been updated and another had lost the phone so all 3 of us had to change our auth numbers when logging into the new wifi router. We had to wait about 3 days each to get them reset, we didn't get any follow up emails to let us know when it happened just discovered on day 3 that we could log back in and the old numbers had been stripped from our accounts. If you made the ticket 24 hours ago leave it another 48 and try log in again, it should work.

  6. Yes. After years of nerf after nerf after nerf after nerf ad nauseum it's clear that balance isn't out because prof A needs another nerf it's out because prof B is in dire need of a buff to bring it up to level status. If we all become "OP" nobody will be. Or some other paraphrasing from the Incredibles.Because it looks like it's that or we continue to get everything nerfed into the ground so we all do 0 damage and just sit there hoping to bore eachother to death.Sounds like hyperbole but this is why I don't do PvP or WvW anymore, it's a continuous mess all the time we solve one issue just to create another. Evidently, because we're still having more or less the same conversations 6 years later.

  7. @ROMANG.1903 said:I've always been against making the game easyer for the minorities who have a terrible internet or serious disabilities. I know it's hard, but difficulty is what makes the fun of the game, and ajusting this difficulty to these people would mean that the whole rest of the playerbase would have it too easy. However, I will admit that this argument holds:

@The Quad.8625 said:Catching a ball has nothing to do with flying a skyscale!

And, while I am against making the challenge easyer, I would be totally fine with an easyer alternative, if it was balanced by being longer to run than the ball challenge, as you suggested:

@The Quad.8625 said:Arenanet, please [...] make a way for me to bypass it

    @crepuscular.9047 said:Thanks

Devs really should take disabilities and possible health issues into consideration when designing contents

One of the bad ones I can think of is the 'Three Golem Monte' achieve, it can pretty much give you a seizureThough I got it done on my third try, but I got a bit of headache from eye strain of eyeballs moving too fast afterwards; hence I have stopping playing FPS games like CS:GO, CoD, etc, gives me a headache in 10-20min

This is an achievment, it's supposed to be challenging and isn't required for anything else in the game. I'm completely against balancing this kind of content around disabilities.

    What Regh said...

We don't exactly want a cake walk either. But considering how long the multiple collections can take making 1 stage easier is not making the whole thing overal less challenging.

I ask you for just a moment to consider how you would feel if say tomorrow you were unfortunate enough to be hit by a bus, develop a serious illness, or develop a permanent condition, and become disabled. You can't play like you used to, or could have before, and it's not your fault. You log into the game because using a keyboard usually levels the playing field skill wise in many ways and but you aren't as quick in your reflexes as you could be either.

Devs granting a small concession to someone on account of disability doesn't take anything away from fully abled players as they will get the same end reward all the same, but it does make the difference to someone less able whether they can chip away at it over time or it's so far beyond their reach they just give up because the last lap of the course has that 1 hurdle they just cannot get over and not for want of trying.

This is part of my request on the QoL sticky re: effect flashes, I know someone who nearly puked after getting their camera spun around by Scruffy in S4 ep 1 The First City trying to complete "Neutralize Scruffy 2.0 to save Taimi". I know motion sickness is not the same as epilepsy but it seems to be related in the way it gets set off. Which is quite shocking as I've never seen an epilepsy warning ingame, and there wasn't one on the disk case I have either, and when you consider seizures can be fatal to people with epilepsy it's quite serious.I should have included a request for static camera option when in a confined area boss fight for his sake.

I'm a bit of a bird nerd when it comes to corvids. So at least I know for the Clouded Corvus griffs they are either a murder or a conspiracy collectively. By the beak shape

(I'd say Clouded Corvus is raven based more than crow on account of the arch in the beak but I'll listen to it next time it makes a sound and try figure out if it's more a caw or a rawk. But from memory I don't think it sounds like either tbh just standard griffy chirps.)

Decided to actually check, and I'm pretty sure it's a conspiracy of Clouded Corvus.

For an untrained eye and ears, one cannot tell the difference, so I'd leave it to the experts. :)

So one question, does the color of the bird changes the groups name? For instance, is a group white Ravens is still unkindness? That's kinda mean isn't it?

It's for the species not the color variety. An albino raven is still a raven.

Dye channels on mounts wouldn't really change anything as it's the species they most resemble in features that are the constant and more useful to base terms from. I made a Magpie looking Clouded Corvus griff' too with dyes but being that the hard features don't change imo I'd hedge bets that it's still a Raven looking griff with magpie colors rather than a Magpie looking griff with raven features. But that's just me. ¯|..(ツ)../¯ You can call yours whatever you want.

@Turkeyspit.3965 said:The beauty of the mounts is that one doesn't replace the other. Sure, you could use the Jackal to go from A to B, but it won't do any damage upon engaging mobs like the Raptor, while the Raptor can't run through a corridor of branded without taking tons of damage. Each mount has their unique strength, and so long as ANET continues this philosophy, they can add as many mounts as they want (just please, no more collection debacles like Skyscale)

While the jackal fills the niche of a 4 legged mount that is somewhat between a dog and race horse; I've always felt that the jackal's sand portal ability is a bit of a kludge because they didn't want to use updrafts or ley-lines.

Given the overlaps in abilities that mounts seem to have I wonder if they are planning a wall crawling mount since the skyscale can cling to walls.

the wall climbing was a remnant of the scrapped spider mount that would have been able to climb walls... it was scrapped due to concerns over people with arachnophobia and they simply reused wall clinging on the skyscale instead.

Yep we didn't get a dragon as such as we got a fire breathing gecko with horns and wings. Which actually is a nice take on it imo, rather than a standard dragon that can just run and fly.

  12. My theory has always been that horses went the way of the gargoyles: extinct. But extinct by way of evolving into something else not just dying off in masses. And it was probably the horses found a magic source to transform them so they could weild weapons to fight back more effectively and stop being used by humans as beasts of burden. Hinted at from Zhed Shadowhoof in GW1 when he says:"Humans. They always think the world turns on their shoulders. The centaur people know secrets that you cannot fathom. Our warriors blaze through battle like fire on a dry plain. Your kind can enslave us, but never shall you break our spirits. We fear nothing beneath the open sky."

Afterthought edit:If horses do still exist they're not known for being magical at all in of themselves and probably will go extinct eventually as they lose out in competition with creatures that do have magic abilities because they have a very set diet if they pushed out of their range to much they won't survive as well as say other non-magical real-life creatures like Coyotes/Wolves/Hyenas/Boar which can survive as scavengers and aren't obligate carvivores so can sustain themselves during harsher periods by eating basically anything, even moss and possibly minotaur poop.Ofc this is just lore meets irl conservation science type speculation for shiggles, being it's a fantasy world ingame I'm sure the Devs could just pull whatever explaination they want out of their butts and make it work, but this would just make more sense imo.

Also how about a squabble of asura?

This is the point, since there's not many official collective nouns for many Tyrian creatures I made this post so the community could chime in with their own sugesstions. :)

A squabble of Asura sounds about right. XD

  14. I said this before in various threads but here's the QoL things I want to see pls:

    • Rather than have us scroll endlessly on minimap to find an event is all the way on the other side also show events happening on current map when we press M.

    • For PvE Stow minions UI buton like Ranger has stow pet. Stows active minions but does not kill them. Minions on a timer like "rise" minions can still die off when stowed if timer runs out. Using minion skill in utility bar when minions stowed should bring those minions out of stow state so skills like Taste of Death should still heal you at the cost of the minion and combat effects like Charge/Rigormortis etc will still happen after the minion comes out. For this all minions should stow as a group but for the sake of healing on the run bloodfiend saccrifice should not un-stow the others and only-unstow itself as heal skills should be able to act independntly of the other utility and elite skills like any other prof/class.

    • Resource node icons should have an option to be made larger in UI settings for those with detail sight issues (we can already set text size this should be no different).

    • Charr and Norn mounts should have extra scaling of +1/3 of what the scaling already is because current scaling for mounts is aesthetically off-putting for those races. And I have the feeling this is why I'm seeing less Charr and Norn players.

    • Add option in settings to turn off flashing effects to make the game more epilepsy friendly. (Options to turn them off or make them static for duration or make the flash smaller and more ignorable.)

  15. @"Illconceived Was Na.9781" said:

    • Since historically, Drakes are just a synonym or form of dragon, Honor of Drakes works for me.
    • Hydras are considered snakes, which suggests bed, den, knot, nest, or pit. (However, I'm sure people might agree with "gank" even so.)

    Here's a few for consideration:

    • Ankle of Pocket Raptors (although as raptors, a convocation also works)
    • Dole of Smokescales (after the venery for turtles)
    • Passel of Rolling Devils (after the venery for Possum, a marsupial, vaguely similar to the Tasmanian Devil)

According to every dictionary I've looked at, a huge fraction of the collective nouns we know (and love or hate) were invented, sometimes relatively recently. It's usually just some author or (what we now call) influencer using the term, accidentally or deliberately.

Some are quite old, dating back to 15th Century hunting terms. My favorite among those is:an unkindness of ravens. (There's evidence that many of these terms were invented. Of course, since we've had over 500 years of usage, we consider them proper parts of English now.)

The same author also apparently coined a superfluity of nuns and an eloquence of lawyers.

Accordingly, I think this is one of the few times when the community can decide for itself (with or without the official blessing of "The Studio"). If we like a term, then it's at least as official as "tweet, to send a message" was before that term entered any dictionary.

Good ideas, though I'd be inclined to call a group of pocket raptors a spree, because it describes them perfectly when they catch you.

After going through the last episode of season 4, I'm wondering what other collective nouns we've not herd yet for various Tyrian creatures.I think we all know a group of Sand lions is going to be a pride, but what are a group of drakes? And more importantly can we officially have it recognised that the collective noun for a group of Hydra is a gank?

    Feel free to add suggestions.

  18. @Liston.9708 said:party solution seems the easiest, but another option is 3 rounds as it is OR 5 failed attempts at each round also counts...….

This is not a bad idea actually, considering if you fail it X times you still put the time into it, just have to make sure people still put the effort into it even if they fail by not let them complete it by letting it fail it for 5 rounds by just standing afk. Some movement of keys still required.

  19. It's nice to know we are appreciated I have ported well over 20 or so people to the top of Blazeridge for Acrophobia I was actually waiting for a friend but loads of people kept showing up. I stopped counting after a while but you're right there are some rude people who assume you will port just because but also a number who say thanks and a few of them tip. The weirdest tip I got was 14 strawberries, but it made me smile all the same. I don't expect thanks, but considering you are saving people a job the ones who don't say thanks are disapointing as it shows a level of entitlement that would just never fly irl. As for "port me" it is rude, you'd never ask someone for something like that in real life to their face. We might be in a game but we're still human beings, not npcs.

Also, there should be assistance for impaired people in several departments regarding difficult content that requires fast movement. Even ego shooters have it to some extent.

It's OK, sleepy brain posts happen. I was going to reply to you last night that it wasn't about character speed in game but player reflexes being hindered but then decided against posting and just went to sleep. Glad I did, rather than have it escalate over a misunderstanding.

I'm inclined to agree with some other posters about being able to do the ball catch as a party (just like in personal story where a friend's kill count counted as your own as the instance owner) as a viable solution and leaving the difficulty as is for those that want to solo for more of a challenge.
