I play it, and i love it because it feels good to play and the weave self part is a good piano-like moment. And when i don't feel like playing with pistol i play scepter.

I clearly agree that tracking the bullets can be hard and some UI modifications woold be cool, like having indicators over your elements, but I took the habit of looking at my buff bar exactly where the bullets icons should be and i'm currently ok with it.

I still don't know why people are so mad about having a scepter variant, and i don't get why people say it's cluncky and super hard to play. Yes you have to memorize whats spells do and when to use it but that's the same for every class imo.

I agree slightly with this.  It’s fun, and I actually like the bullet mechanic, but competitively, which is what I mostly play, the pistol is sorely lacking to the point of not being remotely viable.

I don't know to which mastery it affects (cause I did them 12 years ago), but the damage multipliers are definitely not weapon based on core necro anymore (and never have been on reaper). Back in 2012 you wanted to switch to staff (the only two hand weapon core had) for maximum shroud damage cause two hand weapons have a 10% higher damage multiplier than one hand weapons. Today this does not matter anymore.

I may be wrong, but I don’t think Noodle Ant was saying anything there about damage, only how kills count toward what weapon type.

In a nutshell, YES that is what it means.

If you've not finished some Weapon Master achieves like 5k kills on X wep.
You will notice every Reaper Shroud kill is counted as a HAMMER kill.
Basically your wep code got changed to Hammer when you enter Shroud, so what you equip doesn't matter anymore.

That’s not just reaper shroud right?  It’s also core an harbinger, correct?

the weapon has crappy autoattacks and expects you to dump all your dmg skills on a singular trash mob to kill it. even then, the condis from the weapon are the low stack/long duration type, so even after dumping a bunch of damage skills on a full dps build, mobs from eod onwards will probably only be half dead and theres very little you can do to speed it up (use crappy autos? stack more long duration condis?)

Another thing I don’t understand, all of the effort to get the four bullets readied and the resulting lockout of your other atttunements for a single, “special” four elemental auto attack and the damage/condi stacks on it are a joke.  You’d expect a big grande KAPOW!  from it but it’s such a non factoring attack that it may as well not even be a feature.

  5. Or put it on a real pistol user.  lol.  I'm starting to think this may be the case.  Ele pistol is fun so far, but it really, really lacks some serious punching power, even when I'm sitting at 2k Condi.

I was replying to a roamer. The fact that you assume I only do zerg fights is disrespectful considering I have been in highest rated sPvP lobbies every time I play sPvP. I am also a scout and roam a lot.

You are very rude when painting me to be zerg only player. All I wanted was good 1vs1s and 50vs50s.

I would stay away making baseless assumptions as living within falsehood will prevent you from becoming good player. I have made various suggestions for defense, solo scouting and roaming buffs in the past (evident from my comment history) so you arent exactly on right track.

I cant really respect anyone who lies about others so blatantly, so all you did was lose all credibility

Pot meet kettle much?  You made a LOT of assumptions yourself.

Honestly the only clear design win here is the fact that sword 3 requires no targeting or conditions for both halves of its leaps to be functional. That alone is what makes Necro sword good.
Everything else, especially the autos, leaves much to be desired. Having majority of your weapon skills including its autos be projectile with travel time is really iffy for a weapon set that has not one but two AYEAYAEYAEAYAEYE gap closers. So I'll disagree slightly here for your being "good inspiration" (Imo best sword in the game is still the Virtuoso's version of MH Sword and Guardian's OH Sword)

Revenant swords are fun but their skill fantasy is often curbed by functionality issues. Most people would simply be fine if Sword 3 was changed into Smoke Assault as it's one of the strongest draws of the weapon's flashiness and style, not to mention damage and utility. Offhand suffered too much from repeated nerfs unrelated to the then issues of Sword, those need to be reverted somepart or reworked entirely.

Do that and Swords will be at least fine, if not just decent but boring.

I think you misunderstood the point I was trying to make which is a function change is needed for rev swords.  I’m not saying copy necros swords completely, especially the range part!

Pistol is a predominantly condition focused weapon. It has a gimmick, sort of like hammer, where using your skills procs elemental bullets that enhance your pistol's 2 and 3 skill. One of these enhancements if offensive in nature, the other is defensive.

To get the most out of the bullets,  keep these rotations in mind:

Fire 3 -> 2 (this increases your condi damage by 5% for 10 seconds)
Water 2 -> 3 (this causes the ice field to explode, dealing additional bleeding damage)
Earth 3 -> 2 (this adds additional bleeding to your next three attacks)
Air is a little awkward and probably best avoided, although 3 -> 2 would be best as using Air 2 with an Air Bullet will then reduce the cooldown of your next Pistol ability, allowing you a shorter cooldown on stronger attacks like Fire and Earth 3.

I find most success running it with Catalyst, a Fire/Earth build that uses Signets of Earth and Fire (in PvE) or Air (WvW). Try using the field to shoot your bullets through for additional condition effects as Water 2 and Earth 3 are projectile finishers. Earth is a good field to use since it procs additional poison (which Ele doesnt normally have access too). Make sure to take Vicious Empowerment since this weapon can stun and immo pretty easy with Air 2 and Eartth 3, plus the signet of Earth. You should easily keep up 10 stacks. If you're playing PvE, consider Empowered Empowerment for additional damage stacking. Empowering Auras helps  rack up that damage. You can also take Rentless Fire as that increases your condis by 15% and are unblockable.

Consider running Relic of the Fractal for bleed bursts.

In PvE, I ran it with Warhorn for the extra fire field and really quite enjoyed it. Slap on some Cele, some Fire focused runes a Poison/Bursting Sigil and you'll see some numbers.

Thanks for the info. I’ve been messing around f with tempest on a pistol/focus set. I’ll try experimenting with the stats. I was thinking of doing a full dire set or full carrion for WvW.

  9. Dual sword could really use a brush up, especially in the FUNctionality of them. Ignoring the numbers, Necroswords are a good inspiration for how they should function imo.  Actually, all the other classes offhands are a lot more interesting at least. I hate rev swords compared to them.

It's true for Death Shroud and Harbinger's Shroud, but Reaper's Shroud is considered an Exotic Hammer.

Hits like a Legendary Mac truck though! 🤣

so I guess I need to continue switching to my 2hander before shroud. Thx for confirming.

  11. Are all the different shrouds’ damage based on the weapon you have currently equipped?  Used to be that having a 2 handed weapon gave you slightly more damage for shroud attacks than 1 handed weapons.  Is that still true today?  If yes, does that include harbinger?

Edited to add quote but idk what Im doing apparently lol

You used to not be put in combat at all if you canceled the skill before the bar completed. Say you are just running around in the open world map completion and want to use the skill to run away from mobs (and starting not in combat), if you are put in combat while they are chasing you it makes getting OOC take longer and slows you down now. Before I could get past them while they were chasing me cast leap 1 then cast leap 2 cancel it while getting most the movement and not be put in combat. Also since I cant use my swiftness ability (warhorn 5) without being put in combat it feel worse to me.

Regardless, I still like it. It makes a huge difference in competitive modes.
