Don't let the GW2 Reddit hear you say that. You will get down voted into oblivion and flamed.

If there was a downvote button here I'd downvote him anyway not because of his opinion but because of the fundamentally wrong perception raids did anything to the game that wasn't already there. People used to kick necros and rangers on sight when dungeons were the "endgame" and ask for X amounts of AP.

People will always seek to optimize their time on any game. Time is a finite thing, you know?

elitist toxicity in raids is the basic policy

    [citation needed]

I am near 1k LIs and most of them have been puging in the LFG, not gonna lie and say I haven't found "toxic elitist" groups but they are incredibly far from being common enough to become the basic policy.

    You do you, though.

...why add time constraints to game content available 24/7 all year long? There is no logical explanation.....

there's a very logical, simple explanation most adults will give you in a heartbeat: you die eventually so you try to make the most out of the time you get, specially when you do more than gaming.

@Echoherb.6528 said:Is it because it's complicated? Elementalists are complicated but there's way more of those. Is it the theme? I can kind of see people wanting more of a magically themed class in this kind of game, but at the same time there are plenty of warriors and thieves. Is it because they are difficult to play? Once again I think ele is also very difficult to play and I see a lot of those. I'm curious what's causes so few people to play them.

    Several reasons:
    • Unintuitive design
      • By that I mean that primary weapons are weak, most of your real damage is in your kits, or PF.
    • Aesthetically different from other classes (tech instead of magic)
    • The interesting skills and traits are objectively worse than the boring ones.
    • Except for PF, not a very flashy class.
    • Takes more effort to get the same result other classes get
    • Lack of effort from ANet devs to keep the class up to date. Lots of traits and skills have languished for years with no real change.

Makes sense, especially the part about interesting skills being worse and it not being a flashy class (no clue what "PF" is). Although I still see more warriors and thiefs and those aren't very flashy classes either.

    PF is photon forge.

And yes, but warrior and thief both have visually unique methods of standing out. Engineer is the least visually distinct class (explosions are probably the flashiest things besides photon forge).

I wasn't around for that but I believe it wasn't the case always, think I read somewhere explosive effects from grenades and orbital strike got toned down a ton

  5. It is complicated if you want to be optimal and want to squeeze out the juice out of every little interaction you have but overall you'll find engis that don't do that, despise complexity and do sub-optimal builds for the sake of simplicity.

I think it's more of a theme thing since it doesn't fill the typical fantasy niche that appeals to most people.

How does that make Firebrand less of a potential healer class?

If another healer brings offensive buffs on top of heals you'll always want that.

    @Vulf.3098 [citation needed]

Maybe you should read the post Faaris.8013 was quoting hint it was list of all the classes that can heal but was missing guardians heal spec.

I didn't miss a thing, I am just stating why druid will be always favored regardless of how many heal specs we got. Isn't that obvious?

That is true. But obviously you did miss the point entierly the post you replied to wasent about what healer is favored in groups.

OP was talking about things a thief needs, a thief needs offensive buffs too. Isn't that also obvious?, you can follow the comment chain.

    1) Healing provided by
    • Druid (we all know it)
    • Tempest
    • RenegadeYes there's not only druid that can heal ... actually ... tempest and renegade heals better but druids provides more things such as might and spirit buffes.

    2) Might especially provided by
    • Druid (recent "stupid" buff)
    • Renegade (press 1 skill to perma 25 stacks with concentration .... low radius)
    • Phallanx warrior but got nerfActually almost every class can gain a lot of might if they spec .... but most of the time it's selfish.

    3) Quickness (but not really a must have even if it's really helpfull)
    • Chronomancer
    • Firebrand (can give a lot of aegis and blocks + some sustain and boons)TBH i don't know what other specs can give that much quickness ... if you have something else , be sure to make me notice !

My point is : you don't necessarily need a raid comp, some of other classes performs way more efficiently in a 5 man party than raids ones since it's only 5 ppl.

You forgot Firebrand on the healer list, it can outheal a druid. Also, quickness is helping thieves like alacrity helps weavers. If you have two thieves as dps, they need no alacrity, only quickness and might.

Where's the frost spirit and glyph of empowerment in Firebrand though?, that's a (non-100% uptime) 20% power damage boost

  9. You're making an unwanted, unnecessary distinction between raid and fractal builds. Raids work in 5man subsquads for the most part that guarantee buff spread,in other words: one raid subsquad translates perfectly to one fractal group. If you followed the scene you'd also know qT is no longer considered current, you'd have to either quote snowcrows or discretize (specifically for fractals).

I understand most of your post but try informing yourself better.

  10. To summarize what I think:

    • I don't think base engi needs anything you put here, at all, It's trying too hard to re-invent the wheel. Kits are a very unique concept, in fact I think I haven't seen them in any other game and would like them to be kept as they are.
    • I do agree Scrapper has identity issues but your way to tackle those issues is just too convoluted to be a realistic solution.
    • Holosmith needs some very minor tweaking imho, cutting down the kit lockdown or having a trait that does it for starters if the devs wish to ever see a condi variant. Heat interaction with other weapons is also something frequently asked that would not need any tampering with the core aspect of the elite spec.
  11. I'd like profession specific threads, I'd like to know who specifically takes care of engineer balance for example and what their plans are for the class, sort of like a roadmap. Guessing every profession wants something like that too.

That's not how it is, also please stay on topic.

  12. After the latest balance patch (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Game_updates/2017-12-12#General), on-interrupt sigils and traits got reworked a bit. I am particularly interested in severance for high-end PvE builds and was wondering if anyone has messed with it yet. Sigil does the following:

    • Upon interrupting an enemy, gain up to 250 precision and ferocity for 4 seconds, depending on level. (Cooldown: 1 second), it has a 3 second CD instead if you "interrupt" an enemy with a breakbar. It has no cap so if you hit 3 enemies with it and interrupt all 3, it procs 3 times.

It would most likely replace the air sigil but considering power Holo has access to a decent amount of hard CC, it may be worthwhile. Has anyone tried it yet?

What im trying to get of this is convincing you that core engi is perfectly fine which you should already know. You havent made any point towards me or given proof so your for sure not exposing nobody bro

You can probably get VoDs from his twitch stream for hours upon hours of actual playtesting.

  14. @RedSPINE.7845 said:@Coolguy.8702 Stop telling things if you want to convince us, show us ! :) Put some videos of people doing great with core engineer. I've tried to play condition but I got destroyed and quickly stopped but well, if you say it's good, I'm ready to trust you. But you won't convince anyone until you put some serious arguments on the table.

Preferably high rank/level play too, if you don't mind.

Could care less if he's top 10, especially since the pvp in this game is easy as hell to do, hell ive even seen renegades and naked revs get top 50 ez. Point is, core engi is fine and just as good as the other builds, tho for some reason he doesnt want to admit it, holo and the op specs (like scourge snd mirage), just need to be toned down.

Looking forward to your top 50 naked core engi bro.

  16. @Coolguy.8702 said:

Core Engi is underpowered in PvP, no amount of nerfs to anything else will make it good, cause they'd have to nerf 15 specs. Firebrand makes tempest obsolete in PvP, it should be fair to where they both are useful. I'm not trying to tick people off.. Unless the truth hurts

Except its not, i dunno if you're new to engi but ive won plenty this season playing a classic static discharge boon spam build, less damage then holo but more sustain as it should be, firebrand making tempest obsolete is mainly cause scourge (which is broken as kitten and will be nerfed...) just wipes tempest off the game due to tempest not having enough cleanse to handle it. Firebrand has less healing but more stability and cleanse to make up for it.

You can be a victim about it, most profession forums are, lul, but after the buffs to Acro, Strength, and Radiance, I think I'm starting to sense a trend. In HoT they were doing damage control on ridiculously OP things, way more OP than Scourge/FB are now, comparatively. PoF and recently pre-pof we saw lots of ArenaNet balance attempts to bring up the specs holding the rear, I'm certain that will continue.

Nice try kid but your the one whos asking for buffs, im not a victim since i feel engi is in a great spot atm where its high risk/high reward. Lol anet buffs doesnt mean kitten dude, most of them are usually lackluster buffs like "increased auto attack damage by 3%". As i said, core engi is only bad cause holo is a complete upgrade to the power build and the condi build is just overshadow by all the broken pof specs. If anet listens to people like you then everything would be op (some of the buffs you wrequested were just flat out broken).

Can you please at least bring constructive/factual arguments to the topic?, every single profession sub is a cesspool of your kind of people, illogical, jaded, angry.

Most of the things he talks about and offers as suggestions already exist in game btw, the whole radiance traitline was reworked and has giant buffs to power guard on retal already there. The GM trait that interacts with retaliation is a whopping 50% crit rate, the previous tier is 10% damage and 250 Ferocity.
