In my live test of the defender daily today (And that's a real irritation). I participated in 2 kills in Earth Keep. Died a bit because we were outgunned, and even after several ticks of DEFEND event, got nothing. So kills are still borked.

Spent all morning defending keeps/towers, getting plenty of kills (as support and dps). Of the 30+ defenses, got tower twice and keep once. This is more of Anet just saying "we only want blobs to ktrain and avoid each other".
I mean if it somehow gets mag off SMC maybe its worth it

It needed a change and I applaud ANet for taking action.
What we need NOW, as others have said, are more ways to get credit for defense. Some good suggestions in this thread already, I hope ANet actually reads this?
I don't think its specifically that people aren't looking objectively. Its that there isn't a clear list of what actually gets you a defender credit, and of the two things we know gets you defender credit, one just got removed and the other is highly arbitrary. If we had a list of slightly more involved things that consistently gave credit I don't think anyone would actually care that much. But the way things are repairing was the only way to ensure you got credit for defending at all.

Look, I understand rarity, and incentive, and all that, but these are cool skins and lots of people people write them off because they're just unrealistic to get. 1 guaranteed Scion skin, and no chance at the others. I think this is the only content in the game like this - everything else rng is sellable.
Youcould literally do a tequatl a day from when they implemented sunless skins to the day Anet shuts the servers down and never get a drop. And that's just discouraging.
The system for raids where defeating the boss gives a chance at the weapon you want, but also drops a handful currency you can save if rng isn't in your favor is awesome.
or if Anet isn't sure about a currency, just add a drop of like a "Slightly Damaged Hoard of the Sunless/Drakkar/Wurmslyer/Scion" which is just the skins (so no stats), and is TP-able.
