So I had taken a break from the game for a good 2-3 years now. Came back and decided lets play the story again so we get back into the grove of the game. Cue the anxiety of picking a profession in a game where I kind of like all professions, it takes a lot of reading and some videos but finally I decide to give Guardian the spotlight this time. And off I go.. I got to about level 55ish and running into burn immune mobs where I really started to feel that I was just not doing that great, no matter, some fresh gear from level rewards and some changes to the 2 traitlines I had access to and things improved abit. A few levels later and I was getting downed a bit to often for the game to be truly enjoyable, so I figured I'd hit the forums... Amazing how apparently every single profession forum thinks their profession is utter garbage and not viable. Especially amazing as I've been pretty much steamrolled by at least one person from every profession when I tried pvp and WvW recently. And looking at fractals at least in the group finder there doesnt seem to be any professions missing either? So is this just the nature of gaming forums, that its all negatives and no positives, or is the balance so wack atm that every profession feels they're underperforming? That out of the way, does Guardians self sustain improve later on, or am I better of looking at something like Mesmer, necro, ranger or elementalist? (The other classes dont interest me atm). I mostly run around doing solo stuff, with the occasionaly fractal/strike here and there. WvW is fun but Im in no mood to tryhard it and PvP I'll figure out in time regardless of class.

.... If there was an issue with Anet servers then a VPN wouldnt fix anything, pinging to a VPN if anything increases response time? All that VPN is doing is connecting to another server that then pings anet servers. I really fail to see how this would in any way help if the problem werent on your end. Made NA account specifically to test ping spikes. And there is none on NA meanwhile EU without VPN is barely playble as AFK necro. So where is "problem on my end"?Except that is not what you said in your first post, it mentions nothing about you testing ping spikes on NA, it reads as if a VPN magically fixed your EU ping, which it wouldnt if the EU servers themselves are borked.

i guess you werent there at launch. it made many people quit the ENTIRE GAME. and what kind of mmo FORCES you to revamp your character and playstyle?if its in the game, it should be viable for everything. What the actual...? Yes, if the game locks you into rigid templates like some MMOs do, then it makes sense for it to be viable. But with a free form system you have the opportunity to create a trash build. It's still technically viable, just trash tier. so, what would happen if they buffed it to be GOOD? think about it....scary stuffit is only trash, because THEY WANT IT SO You're really not thinking this through. I am not saying that any particular trait line in GW2 is trash. Certainly, we can point to individual traits that are trash. But the whole idea of our trait system is to allow players to find synergy between traits to produce the outcomes they're looking for. What you call "forcing you to revamp your character and playstyle" is nothing more or less than that. That you produce a trash build does not mean that the system is trash. so, will you give me 100s of gold, so i can EXPERIMENT with builds and runes at max level?100s of gold? How about you maybe learn the game, Metabattle, Snowcrow and the PvP lobby provides all the testing grounds a person need to get a feel for if a build would work or not. Traits and skills operate differently between PvE and PvP, yes, but that is where a build editor tool comes in, several are right on google. I have crafted several ascended sets, but not after extensive theorycrafting of my builds and testing in the PvP area. Sometimes if I was truly unsure I'd nab some exotic gear and take it for a spin, and a full set of exotic gear is not a hefty price tag at all. The true depth of this game lies in the builds that you can fiddle together, everyone has a different playstyle in games, even if we maybe dont know it, some builds will work perfectly for you and others just dont match you as a person and your playstyle, this game offers the freedom to find the right build for the player. The mediocrity comes from those who just copy paste others builds and expect to be as good as them.

Only area I can think of is the pvp lobby.

Would have to be more than just refunds, the 30 hours of story progress I made over the weekend (finally had a long block of time to sit down and just game) is far more worth to me than any financial losses.

Do you know what kind of shitstorm that would cause? If it's actually all gone? I spent over 30 hours playing this weekend as I had a rare weekend off and my GF worked long shifts. I also bought over 20k gems for various ends with 8k remaining on my account when I went to bed. If they dont fix it, then I expect a massive compensation for the time and funds lost.

Too Entitled? I work all day, I have limited playtime. This has ruined my evening, time is the one thing you can never get back. Now I'm just hoping they will be able to fix it because I am down an easy 1000g and 8000 gems just in pure monetary stuff, not to mention the almost 30 hours of playtime this lost me.

Okay as someone that decided to start working towards all the WvW and PvP legendaries about a week before the current season reset let me chime in here. I'm a silver 2-Gold1 depending on luck and if I can run duo with my friend (this allows us to carry pretty hard as we have a good synergy). Regardless of this, he plays maybe 30% as often as I do. I currently am closing in on 400 games played this season with a winrate of about 55%, I had a loosing streak yesterday of 11 games in a row, I only played 15 games yesterday. And usually I only play max 5 games a day, but had the day off and nothing to do so meh. This season I've managed to complete the first 3 meta-achivements for the ascenion and I've gained 120+ ranked wins, and I've made the ascended amulet needed for the legendary and the ascended backpack. As well as gained a hefy way towards legendary pvp armor. In another 4 seasons I will have all the materials for both legendary backpack, amulet and a full set of armor, 5 seasons if my math sucks. Now this is a major time investment for sure, which is why I'm doing WvW on the side, I think my odds of gaining any legendary armor from there any time soon is next to none, but any piece I can make from there will shorten my time dramatically. My point is, I'm incredible casual, but if you play from the start of the season and average 240-300 games in a season, you should be all means reach 120 wins. I dont know if me being on EU changes things, but I've never dropped from a 50% winrate, no matter how badly I play.
