  1. From what I understood when I did the Caladbolg sidequest, it got bonded to the commander after it was reforged. Also according to the Wiki (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Caladbolg) : So the commander is now the rightful wielder and owner of Caladbolg.
  2. As far as I know Caladbolg has several forms already. But yeah, I can understand where you're coming from. If we look at the Lore behind it, it really should be Legendary, not just ascended tier. So I really do hope Anet decides to make a legendary form for Caladbolg in the future.
  3. As said in April 27, 2010, in the GW2 Design Manifesto. https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/guild-wars-2-design-manifesto/ This is one of your core tenets, try to remember them, because even if part of your staff changed over time, the vast majority of your community did not. I love this. Omg, thank you for reminding me why I fell hard for this game. Been playing on and off since 2012, and yet each time I come back, it feels like coming back home. Anet, Devs, please take note that this is YOUR design manifesto. As Cait Sith said, your community is pretty much the same regardless of how much turn overs already happened among your staff through the years. Maybe it really is time for you guys to sit down and review your design manifesto and measure EOD against it.
  4. Yeah I enjoyed the epicness of the battle too. But the reward for it really sucks, factoring in the high chance of failure. IMHO, the rewards should be proportional to the level of difficulty to make people really want to do this. Heck, I'm better off doing Chak Gerent followed by Octovine and get better rewards (I think I get around 10-12G just by doing these 2) for a shorter amount of time than doing this 2-Hour long kitten with unsatisfactory rewards. 😵‍💫 I'll see you both in DE then, if and when Anet decides to fix this kitten. 😅
  5. Got the turtle for my main account on my 30th attempt. Previous 29 attempts resulting in failure really burned me. Got the turtle for my pseudo-main/Alt account on my 31st attempt at this meta before the changes were introduced, all because of sheer RNG luck and I landed on a Hardstuck organized map. I got traumatized with the 29 fails. As it is, I ain't returning to Dragon's End to do the meta until I get feedback from other players that PUGs can now clear it. Current rewards are still not enough to justify wasting at least 2 hours to do this kitten.
  6. Nah. NPCs gather at the Jade Valley on a specific time only. So even if all zones are high, the meta still won't start. With Dragon Stand, the map was set to start the meta from the beginning, just waiting for players to gather at the designated zones.
  7. Teleport to friend works. All my Toons have Dragon's End now even if I did not start the story yet for a lot of them.
  8. Lv. 80 Booster + 5 Teleport to friend + Knowing that Turtles collection starts with Dragon End = new player getting to DE knowing nothing. Or a casual player not knowing a lot getting there. There are way to bypass the so-called tutorials, especially if the only motivation of the expac buyer is the turtle. Several suggestions were already given in the previous pages of this thread that could bridge the gap. Personally I don't want this to be nerfed but I want it to be more forgiving. Reduce (or remove if possible) the RNG moves, give more time to the Soo-Won encounter. Then make an instanced version of this fight like Dragonstorm, containing all the difficult mechanics that they could dream of and make it very rewarding so people will be motivated to re-engage it. Let's not go into this since we have no idea what other players are dealing with. For all we know, they're casual in the game and spends less time playing (so they don't know much about the game mechanics) coz it's a stress reliever, a form of escape, from something they're facing in real life. Let's be kind.
  9. Oh yeah definitely. But what I wanted to point out is that's where the difference occurs. Hardcores will beat up big baddies and look beautiful at the same time. Casuals only want to look beautiful. Doesn't matter if they're beautiful coz of the gem store stuff. 🤣
  10. More like hardcore players want challenge. They live for the thrill of beating big baddies and overcoming difficult content and mechanics. It's the casuals that want to show off gear and fashion. They buy tons of stuff from the gem store for that reason (hello self). 🤣
  11. This. And can I add one more? For some, casual means caring more about Fashion Wars and getting all mounts with skins that complement the Toon's outfit coz why not? They won't give a kitten about Soo-Won's Void. 🤣
  12. Not sure about gear but I was on Trailblazers the whole time. 1st squad had 50 full. 2nd squad (the tail squad) had around 25 maybe? DPS was enough to put down the tail relatively quickly as soon as it's up. We were on discord VC the whole time so the com would just talk if tail comes up. Only the tail squad was moving a lot from what I recall coz we would go back to the head when tail's down. And when tail's up, we're the only ones who are moving. Also since only the tail squad is moving, the main squad didn't get whirlpooled or bubbled as much.
  13. Agree 10000% with this. Yup, I agree 10000% with this too. It's like the Soo-Won Meta really brought out the worst version of the players, especially those who are trolling so that the event fails. Then there's the shouting match at map chat and the witch hunt for the new player who might have caused the event to fail due to an unintended mistake. DE's really sad.
  14. Update: finally got my siege turtle in less than 24 hours after I won the Meta. TBH the win feels like hitting a win at the lottery. I lost count of my number off attempts and had to do an EOD Detox during the weekend because of burn out. What we did differently: 2 squads were created where 1 squad was assigned to deal with the tail if it comes while the other squad won't leave Soo-Won's head. This way, she gets damaged as soon as possible. Squads don't move much when she switches positions too. And also you only have the tail squad moving a lot. During wisp phase, kill all monsters with CC while waiting for the wisp people to return. But please note, this was still an organized group with discord voice. Can't be counted under PUGs. I still stand with what I said before: just make a mapped instance of this event like Dragonstorm. Or make it a strike mission. Throw in all your hardcore mechanics there and give better rewards for completing it. Then make the open world version a bit more forgiving (longer time, lesser RNG) but with lesser rewards and turtle unlocked. That's the only way that I can see so that both casual and hardcore players are satisfied. To those who are already burnt out with the meta: detox like I did. Don't play the game for 2 days. Go outside. Jog or maybe hit the gym. Or eat out LOL. Then come back and try again. Also, look for Mad Hattr. She was the com when I did the winning run.
  15. Yeah, I agree, that is true. Each players' reaction to this in-game issue is the sum total of each one's experience both inside and outside the game; it cannot be easily separated. That's why we should just empathize instead of shooting each other down. But at the end of the day, I hope Anet is listening to all of these and would act to fix all of the stuff within their power. Here's hoping that @Rubi Bayer.8493 is monitoring this thread and conveying our thoughts to the team.
  16. Also just to add: I think these are the players who only bought the expansion for the sake of the turtle and the new elite specs because they loved it during Beta Week. They don't care about the other new features, they don't care about the new maps and the new metas in the maps. They don't care about everything else but the turtle and new specs. So I think that's where they're coming from when they say this was a waste of their money... coz at this point, the things that matter to them, that motivated them to buy the new expac, were placed behind something that feels like impossible for them. Translate that same situation into some thing else, anyone would react the same way, I think. We don't react in the same way because we have a different motivation/reason for buying this.
  17. Yeah, I'm with you on the frustration. True, reactions can be dramatic at the spur of the moment. But I think the root of this is Anet's statement that this mount is easily obtainable, much like the roller beetle. Their expectation for it was set. Then they encounter the meta. Failed once. Tried again. Failed again. And again. And again. And again. So it looks like turtle being as easy roller beetle isn't true; they feel like they've been lied to. Some cannot stand things like this, hence the dramatic reactions as you put it. Honestly, Anet should have just stuck with their statement and not linked the turtle behind the Jade Sea Meta. If Anet doesn't get to monetize this sooner than scheduled (due to a lack of player base with turtles so only a few will buy skins), I'm sure management will force the devs to make changes.
  18. It's because a lot of players are already exhausted/frustrated/exasperated with the Meta and with everything that's happening in Dragon's End right now. The same people want the Turtle so bad prior to launch but then they experience this. Just empathize with them, expressing frustration is normal after all. And also, you're commenting on this thread that's supposedly a fix for it. Unfortunately, a lot of players find the changes outlined here as still lacking, and that's what's also being voiced out here. Chak Gerent got fixed precisely because of people voicing out their frustration and pointing out what's wrong with it and how it could be fixed. For me, EOD isn't all bad. I find the maps so beautiful. A lot of stuff are engaging. The new features are cool but can still be improved (please make the Jade bot account wide too). And honestly, I appreciate the hard work that the Anet staff has put into this. But sadly, being burned out from the Jade sea meta really sapped a lot of my enthusiasm for the game. Am I going to demand a refund and leave the game entirely? No, not really. I agree with you: issues will be resolved along the way. But personally, I chose to go on an EOD detox because I don't want to be angry at the game that I've loved for 9 (turning 10) years. Hopefully the glaring issues (especially this meta) will be fixed once I regain my enthusiasm and pick this up again.
  19. Bruh I think what they were saying is that this game caters to both hardcores and casuals. It is a MMORPG after all. If you're good at the hardcore contents, great! If you've cleared this multiple times, congrats! But the general point of a lot of people here is that this isn't something that you can walk into and expect to finish it right then and there. And then there's also the Soo-Won RNG mechanics (which is also another issue). Personally, I love the difficulty and the epicness of this meta. I just got burned out because of several failed attempts since Day 2. I go with what the others were saying: make the open world meta easy enough for casuals but maybe with less rewards (turtle included ofcourse) AND THEN make an instanced version like Dragonstorm where all hardcore, unforgiving mechanics are present and the rewards are far, far better than the open world rewards. That way, both hardcores and casuals are satisfied. This would also resolve the map chat toxicity and gatekeeping that's happening at Dragon's End right now. If Anet goes with this suggestion, heck, I'm willing to do the instanced version.
  20. Thank you all. I think everything I've hated about this meta has been stated clearly by the previous posts. I've been doing this since Day 2 of EOD Launch Week, both with PUGs and Organized groups with discord. I've already lost count of my number of attempts at clearing this and I got no win up until now. I put everything on my GW2 queue on hold (including EOD story) just for this. Personally, I love the difficulty level, the epic feels of doing it. But the failure is just too punishing. 2 hrs per meta wasted just because of either Soo-Won's RNG, players not following instructions for the whisp phases, disconnections and client crashes (pls fix your DX11). Thank you for your work Anet, I do appreciate what you've done with EOD so far. But honestly, I'm tired and burned out already because of this meta. I'll be going on a GW2 EOD detox for now. Also, Anet Devs, if you're not willing to change anything else, then at least give the players a bit more time to finish the Soo-Won encounter. Heck an additional 5 mins isn't so bad and will go a long, long way.
