This is the current log for condi renegade off snowcrows:
    https://dps.report/bmcu-20220711-173054_golem

It's not until 5 seconds in that you are over 20K DPS with full boons as well as conditions on the golem. Your build is also slightly different from theirs but not majorly.

Oh wow. Yeah, looks like I may have to ditch my glass cannon power DPS and see if I can match my condi renegade to the one you posted. 20k DPS sounds like a dream right now. Thanks for sharing!

Conditions have a ramp time. If you're fighting trash mobs on condition builds it will be rougher than on power builds (pocket raptors for example).

Remember that soulcleave is a heal and not just breakrazor. Darkrazor acts as heavy CC. If you have still difficulty with the viper variant try the alacrity variants running celestial or ritualist with 79% boon duration. You could also camp shortbow if using viper's (and torment sigil) in openworld since the shortbow has massively higher power coefficients.

Yeah, I have no issues with healing or CC on my condi renegade (though TIL about Soulcleave; I never really used it before), just that my overall DPS is low and it can take a while to defeat enemies. I didn't realize that conditions have a ramp time, but it makes sense now that you mention it. The shortbow is actually main go-to (and TIL about the higher power coefficients), but sometimes I switch to Mace/Axe if I need melee. My gear is viper with runes of tormenting.

With the Power build, I've been told (on Reddit) that it's actually an extreme glass cannon build, so I may need to replace some Berserker gear with Marauder so I wouldn't die as easily. I don't know if it's worth it anymore. I wasted so much gold on gearing myself for it without properly researching it first, and now I feel stupid.

  3. So my main is a Condi Renegade. I checked for the first time in years (I'm a recently-returned player, mind you) my DPS. It was about 1,600* or so for just auto-attack. However, I am still able to hold my ground against champions usually. I think it's mostly due to the conditions I apply and the Battlescars that help me stay alive. The sustain (is that the right term?) is pretty good for that build.

    Gear: viper

    Weapons: Mace/Axe + Shortbow

    Traits:

    • Devestation - mid bottom mid bottom mid bottom
    • Corruption - mid top mid bottom mid top
    • Renegade - Mid mid mid mid mid top

    --------

Last night I decided to try a Power DPS Herald build for the first time. My DPS went up to like 10k* for just auto-attack (while sustaining a few facets). I go out into open world, and man is it tough to play it. I find myself dying fairly easily. I don't know if it's because I'm playing it completely wrong, or if it's the lack of Battlescars, or whatever.

    Gear: Berserker + Scholar runes

    Weapons: Sword/Axe + Staff

    Traits:

    • Invocation - mid mid mid mid mid bottom
    • Devestation - mid mid mid top mid mid
    • Herald - mid bottom mid top mid bottom

    --------

Just need some advice on one of the two (or even both):

    1. How do I increase my condi renegade's DPS?
    2. How do I improve my survivability with my Power DPS Herald?

I find condi renegade to be so much fun, but I thought I'd try to change things up a bit and see if I can increase my damage output and be more useful, so to speak. Like I said, I'm not all too experienced with builds despite playing this game since beta (and taking many long breaks).

    * NOTE: DPS was tested in Raid Lobby Training area, all boons on.

no, keep running Kalla/Mallyx.  Dance of Death is nerfed, yes, but it's still more than viable with good positioning, even in full viper/dps gear.  If you lose Mallyx you lose a ton of condi damage output AND you lose one of the best pulls in the game which is fantastic for open world mobs.  Kalla brings her amazing CC with Darkrazor and Icerazor (and even Soulcleave) are more than enough to top you off.  I would not run Shiro/Jalis unless you absolutely don't care about your damage output.  Shiro is only "more sustainable" because it focuses on active damage mitigation (evades), but you have to stop pressuring for that to work which makes fights take longer which means more time for you to end up dead in the long run.  Shiro/Jalis is also going to perform worse for damage on open world champs/legendaries/meta events meaning potentially higher fail rates/more time spent and wasted.  I would highlyyyy advise Mallyx/Kalla and just to focus on working on your positioning and learning your sustain synergies.

For Instanced PvE the Invocation Variant is better than the Devastation Variant now, but it takes longer to ramp up significantly and has hitbox variances due to relying on Citadel Bombardment for some of its damage

Thanks for the reply, appreciate it! It's good to have another opinion about this matter. You mentioned "even in full viper". Does that mean there's another set of stats you'd recommend over viper? Sorry if it's a naive question. I'm not new but I have still a lot to learn about builds and stats.

Just weaponswap to trigger on swap sigils, that's the only difference for Invocation variants. The Devastation variant you linked loses a bit of sustain and damage from Battle Scars change from 298 to 117 base damage and 202 to 117 base healing. Battle Scars only makes up ~8% or about 3K DPS total which means it's near negligible in the grand scheme of things as it was not removed and only reduced.

Cele is only run for condi alacrity with leadership runes to hit ~79% Boon duration, presumably it would be on par with ritualist gear.

Yeah, that build was fairly good pre-nerf, but now I can't rely on Battle Scars anymore. I'll try to see if I can find any good builds with Invocation instead of Devastation.

You can farm the runes in PvP chest without doing the dungeons. Also, in PvE I find Shiro + Jalis in full viper or viper + TB to have more sustain than Kalla + Mallyx in celestial or TB gear. If you're running Kalla and want more sustain the obvious choice is All for One trait and not Heartpiercer (which obviously means a lose in damage), but either you're seraching dps or sustain.

So accept the lower sustain and embrace full viper for dps or get the sustain from the mobility and damage mitigation in Shiro and Jalist.

    Thanks, I appreciate the reply.

I don't do PvP so I guess I'll have to find friends to do the dungeons with.

Hmmm, alright. I'll try running Shiro/Jalis and see how it goes. I've been focusing on just Kalla and I guess I got too tunnel-visioned on that. I guess the idea now is to kill your enemy before the enemy kills you, eh?

  7. Sorry for posting a potentially dumb thread, but been scouring the forums for suggestions after the nerf to condi renegade. I currently run this build. I've been told that condi-renegade is still viable, despite the nerf to torment and sustain. However, I've definitely been feeling noticeably weaker in PvE.

So looks like the new meta is to switch from torment+viper to celestial/trailblazer, from my understanding? Also Nightmare runes would be good but they require dungeon-specific currency, and these days it feels like no one ever does dungeons anymore.

EDIT: To clarify, this discussion is purely for PvE open world content. Mostly solo, but also sometimes with others.

  8. DISCLAIMER: This is just my opinion, so let's agree to disagree.

    Positive

+ Visually, the new maps are absolutely beautiful and breathtaking. Kudos to everyone involved in making these maps, including the concept art that initiated the journey.

+ I love how big the maps are. Kaineng feels like an actual city, and Echovald feels like a living forest. Gives us plenty of room to explore and enjoy and immerse and enjoy the game.

+ To add to the above, I love how "tall" those maps are. I think these are the tallest maps to date (correct me if I'm wrong) and I love it. There are literal skyscrapers that feel as tall as the condo building I live in, and I feel a lot more immersed than ever before.

+ As a music nerd, I love the music, sound effects, and ambience. It feels immersive and fresh, and I just recently bought new headphones, too. I feel giddy just thinking about it and can't wait to jump back in today.

+ The writing and voice acting finally feel mature. In the past, it felt too safe, like it were made for younger audiences. Now the writing feels a lot more realistic. Yes, that includes the use of slang, some swearwords, etc.

+ Thank you for FINALLY having tutorials on things like the break bar.

    Negative

    - So far, I ran into a few story achievements that are either a little buggy or just really sensitive. Can't remember off the top of my head right now, but I am sure they'll be fixed soon.

    - Despite the above positives, exploration in Echovald has been frustrating. Some POIs and Hero Points were placed what I assume was strategically, but instead, made me feel exhausted after trying to reach them to no avail. I am not sure I like the idea of certain POIs being locked behind an achievement or a dynamic event that may or may not succeed because not enough people are around.

    - I barely see anyone in Kaineng and Echovald. I guess everyone is rushing to the end to farm the meta, but I feel disappointed running past map events because there's no one there to do it with me (it's either boring or just difficult doing them on my own).

    - Can we please get separate key bindings for the skiff, fishing rod, etc? Having them all hide behind a skill key-binding and a small grey box is the opposite of accessible, not to mention confusing.

    - The whole idea of the Jade Bot is really cool, but I still am really confused on the whole cores + chips + etc. It's not all that well documented in the game, and I feel overwhelmed whenever I talk to the NPCs.

  9. I see no issue with the skyscale. You can explore the map however you want without forcing others to play the game your way. If you don't want to use a skyscale, don't. The rest of us, though, will do whatever we want. Echovald exploration has been an absolute pain in the butt for some parts, and being able to explore more easily efficiently doesn't take away from the experience. That's a you problem.

Also, it would be really cool to fly around and see everything from up above, much like from an airplane as you approach a city. A lot of maps in the game are absolutely breathtaking, and while enjoying them from the ground can be rewarding, it could be equally rewarding look down upon the vastness of the world of Guild Wars 2.

  10. Floors, character models, objects, UI, etc all becomes invisible from certain angles, and the deeper you go into the area, the more things become invisible. All you end up seeing eventually is just background darkness and water in the bottom. Pressing ESC or clicking on the gear cog in the top left (when you're lucky enough to see it) does nothing - I assume that the UI that's supposed to pop-up just goes invisible while in this story instance.

Note: This only applies when doing story missions in the story instance in the Priory Archives in Lornar's Pass (main map outside instance not affected for me). Using the latest GW2 build with DX11 Beta turned on. Only solution so far is to turn DX11 Beta off while doing missions in this instance. I have  not discovered other areas so far that give me the same (or similar) issue(s).

To be honest I don't have much hope on them redesigning it. But I've also never seen a beta feedback with ALL the posts about how we hate the loadout management (with some people even asking to split the 2 legends entirely).

They should really learn from the Sonic live action movie here.🦔

Well, I'll give them the benefit of doubt. I'm gonna try to optimistically expect a new redesign where either we get two legends you can switch back and forth, or alternatively, getting a mix of Luxon and Kurzick skills (e.g. 6-7 could be Luxon, 8-9 could be Kurzick, 0 could be a combination of Luxon and Kurzick in one skill).

If they end up redesigning it and it's just as bad or worse, then I will have learned my lesson. If they don't redesign it, then I will just be extremely disappointed. I'm hoping that they do learn a lesson and give us something good, though.

I don't think anybody disagrees with you here.

The community is unanimously telling that the flipover management is a nightmare. If Anet decides to ignore this feedback for some reason than I don't really know why they do beta events and ask for feedback. It would be a huge middle finger to players.

That's really good to hear. I look forward to Anet redesigning it completely. I think the core idea was really cool, but it was just poorly executed.

  13. I'll repost here what I posted on the subreddit:

As someone with ADHD, I hate the vindicator so far. Having two sets of skills, switching back and forth, and keeping track of so many things, all just ends up being a nightmare. Maybe I’m playing it wrong, but it’s just way too confusing and all-over-the-place for me. I do like the new dodge and the greatsword skills, though.

The lack of boons compared to Herald and Renegade is just a huge con, alongside the very confusing gameplay mechanics. You constantly need to look at your skill bar and remember the two sets of skills that have little to nothing to do with another (i.e. a Luxon skill has nothing to do with its Kurzick counterpart).

I like the greatsword skills, and the new dodge mechanic is kinda cool. However, the rest of the skills are just a nightmare to deal with in high-level PvE maps, especially if you're gonna do meta events.

I already know there'll be people who disagree with me on my feedback, and that's fine - I am sure it can work well for someone who can micro-manage this sort of play-style. I, on the other hand, can't. I'll be sticking with Renegade and Herald, personally.

  14. So far, I have noticed a hefty performance increase. No more micro-stutters. Higher consistent framerate. Slightly shorter loading screens. In general it feels better than the D912pxy mod, though I say that cautiously. I'm really satisfied with this DX11 Beta so far.

    Main Specs

    - AMD Ryzen 5 5600X

    - Sapphire Pulse 6800 XT

    - HyperX 16GB DDR4-3200 Mhz

    Add-ons

    - TacO + Tekkit

    Settings

    - 1440p, 144hz refresh rate, v-sync, max settings

P.S. - For anyone having issues with DX11 Beta, either your hardware doesn't fully support DX11, or there might be something wrong with your configuration. Try deleting game cache, or running GW2 in repair mode. Best of luck!
