Every few months I think about relapsing back into GW2, so I check on this thread and the wiki page for signets of suffering to see if they fixed my favorite LI, chill, open world roaming build, and it's a bummer to see that they still haven't.

At this point, I guess I should make peace with the probable truth that they won't 'fix' it, they probably don't see it as 'broken' or an issue. Whatever metrics they use to keep track of player happiness or trait and skill usage probably indicate that those of us that loved signets of suffering builds were a small minority. Or maybe they don't track any such metrics.

Or was the previous version of this trait considered to be overpowered? I can't really imagine it was, I don't think any S tier builds used it, from my perspective it seemed like it was just enough to make some low intensity/low apm/'chill' builds be able to perform at maybe a B+ or A tier? It did not make me feel like a god, it just made the build much more fun and smooth to play, and strong enough to let me easily handle most open world situations.

I'm not gonna imply something so dramatic like that I'll NEVER PLAY GW2 AGAIN until this revert the change to this one trait... but it really did reduce a good chunk of my enjoyment in the game for my favorite chill build on my favorite class.

don't think they ever gave a reason why they even made the change tbh, did they think this would make signets more popular? idk lol

    "just dodge it"

    number of dodges: 2 - 3

numbers of hard cc and soft cc that warriors, necros, mesmer, etc can apply > 3 (lots of them AoE)

numbers of enemies in a common pvp match: 5

So yeah, just dodge those 5 players with their metabattle's build with tons of cc and soft cc. Block doesn't work either 'cause you know spam of unblockable things

Example of a normal combat behavior for your non typical spellbreaker, willbender, etc. (you know, you don't like the current 'meta builds' that anet forces  has for your class )

You enter in combat, u dodge chill to the bones, u press two skill, then you got ccded 'cause you hit someone with shock aura (shared by a tempest), while you're chilled/feared by a reaper's aoe,

then suddenly a DH spears you, so if you decide to block, gg 'cause you still got pulled. Some how you survived, 'cause you managed to it. You run away from the teamfight and go to far.

Having a normal duel with a spellbreaker (more like only dodging the staff/hammer cc; 'cause you can land lots of skills, but if he lands one or two cc skills you're dead by the next infinite cc combo); but suddenly a stealthed virtuoso stuns you, throws you lots of unblockable things, and cc's u when u trying to heal yourself (all while you got all ur cds from the spellbreaker staff/hammer fight)

"Oh, then go full of stun breaks" and lost all ur damage and other options of gameplay 'cause you know Your class cannot do a sh if you're picking defensive traitline (as for modern teamfighting combat or duels)

So, if you can't spam stab like willbender/dh/tempest . spam blocks like willbender/virtuoso/warrior, spam invul  like virtuoso, all while you keep your offensive skills to fight, good luck.

sounds like you are doing a leeroy jenkins into the whole enemy team and then rightly getting destroyed?

Scepter#2 is skill split for competitive modes. Does less bleeding and power damage(even though power damage is very low in pve anyway).

Imo this skill is split for no reason, its just bad in general. Nothing becomes op if it does 3 bleeding instead of 2 on a weapon skill.

Scepter#3 does 1 boon corrupt on single target and does like 4sec torment. The power level of the un-traited version is so low its actually unbelievable. The only reason this skill exists so that the curses gm trait can make it playable. Which is a twisted logic to balance something.

A much healthy approach would be offload some of the power of the scepter trait by adding condition durations baseline and make it corrupt 2 boon single target. So that you actually have a functioning skill and if you want to trait in the curses gm trait you gain 200 condi damage and the 2 single target becomes 1 aoe corrupt.

sometimes when I use scepter 3 I'm like "did I press the skill??", its so bad lol

Lingering curse make those ideas OP.

I doubt it, the numbers can always be tweaked, and you'll be giving up weakening shroud which is a nerf to your survival.

Also you seem to forget that Scepter do have an advantage over pistol in competitive modes as none of the scepter's skills are projectiles.

didn't forget, its just that the scepter skills are so weak and worthless that them being non-projectiles never come into play. The only decent condi build for spvp atm is reaper, who has the unblockable shout anyway.

  5. will be very sad if sword just ends up being a "oh but its fun in open world pve" weapon, when swords were announced I was so excited, dual wielding sword necro? Oh yes please. Even got some nice sword skins. But they just feel so meh to use...

    Sounds like cope.

Wurm is an instant 'get out of jail free' card and you're calling it clunky, lol.

requires set up, wurm can be killed, the teleport can get cucked by terrain etc. Not as good as an instant teleport like a blink

Anway, for mobility you have two teleports and now leaps (meaning you can use smoke fields others lay down for stealth); somehow this isn't good enough.  With two HP bars, boon strips, chill spam, and CC.

spectral is not a true teleport.  Leaps mean taking swords, swords suck.

"two hp bars", but no access to extra evades, blocks, invulns, consistent stab etc. that other classes have, making it susceptible to CC and burst

boon strips? Most of the boon strips have been nerfed, weakening shroud no longer corrupts, path of corruption on reaper is not consistent due to reaper shroud 2 being buggy and failing the last hit etc.

Chill spam? bring condi cleanse, most supps have it in abundance making it a non issue.

CC? The big CC skills are heavily telegraphed so this is a l2p issue. If you want to bring up CC as an issue just look at ranger... oh wait you are a ranger main lol

    Just from wvw perspective.
Since this was supposed to enable some kind of backline Necro build like Trig said while introducing the weapon.

All flip skills attacks need like 20% damage buff.
Just having a damage number smaller than the initial skill number is such a bad mechanic, especially when u hide it behind the HP cost, cast times and los restrictions.
Both Sword#2 and Sword#4 initial and flip skills need much higher damage numbers that the current.

In general if they lets say dont buff damage on the swords, it will never be picked up for any meaningful gameplay reasons. It would just be a meme weapon for people who don't know better.

sword 2 flip skill does less dmg than the base skill in wvw, you do more damage to yourself with most of these flip skills 😂

its just fake dmg, you hit like a noodle. They don't even provide extra utility, except for the leap, just "press to hit again"

  8. Feels like its a bit outdated now in pvp. It still has its uses in pve, but in pvp it has been almost completely replaced by pistol. Skills 2 and 3 feel very weak.

    Grasping Dead

    • How would a short immobilize feel with this skill?
    • A stack of poison? Auto chain applies both bleed and poison, so why not...

    Feast of corruption

    • Single target 1 boon corrupt? Even 6 years ago it would've been weak. How about 2? Though this is unlikely since the current balance team seem to hate boon strip
    • Make devouring darkness baseline? Might be easier to balance in the future, and helps you output more aoe pressure whilst having weakening shroud for survival.

I feel like they could make scepter into a more debilitating aoe focused condi weapon, whilst keeping pistol a more single target based wep with a focus on burst damage.

  9. the more I use it, the less I enjoy it. It feels weak? The flip over skills also seem very bland, they don't seem like impactful skills that should cost life to use...

only thing I like is the autos tbh

  10. in spvp:

does too little damage for the health sac, no real build can take advantage of it. On harb you will literally be cooking yourself, and reaper needs the burst from axe/focus. Maybe some bunker scourge build?
