I for one, welcome our new Gyro mechanics.

After thinking about it, I do think there are some changes I would urge to help make these more in-flavor, though.

Bulwark Gyro - Strictly provides barrier in its area, rather than transferring damage to the Scrapper

Blast Gyro - Delay reduced to 2 seconds from its current 3.

I think this might make things work a bit better.

Don't know if it's QoL, but it's time to change the Orr cathedral meta events and take out the "Defense" portion and just have them reset at specific times.  Either that or make the Champions a lot harder.

I've been trying to finish "The Tyrain Service Medal" and it's almost impossible because some necro comes along and kills the Champion Lt before the last few cathedrals I need resets.

I think you can actually get it from the defense part of the meta as well.

  3. For elementalists' conjured weapons, since this topic was recently visited:

-Picking up an elementalist weapon doesn't cause it to disappear. (Each weapon can be picked up once per 15 second interval per player, and conjured weapons from the fire line also has a 15 second cooldown on giving fire aura this way)

    or

-An elementalist's conjured weapon can still be picked up once by the conjuring elementalist, even if another player grabs it first.

Both of these changes in mind so that sharing conjured weapons can be more easily encouraged without potentially stifling an ele's build.

  4. I suggest releasing skins for certain legendaries that tone down/use specific animations for them, namely:

Sharur - A Day skin and a Night skin, as some might prefer one over the other.

Juggernaut - A "lite" skin that has all the same effects, minus converting your entire character into metal.

Dreamer - A "lite" that uses a simpler streaking rainbow rather than an entire unicorn with each shot. (Also, put a cooldown on those sound effects-- Or at least a longer one-- Skin or no skin)

There's probably others but that's what comes to mind for me.

Nah. I like it in discipline.

It lets me give up a bit of condi cleanse/damage to take one of the banners that pushes a boon I might need. It's fine where it is, and I don't want to trade that for War's cunning.

That's a fair point. Honestly, I think it's a better DPS option than everything else in that specific column.  There's other quickness options in Warhorn and Martial Cadence (under tactics), and I figure that having all these eggs in the one basket would simplify things.

That being said, I also don't feel like losing a little bit of boon uptime is a bad tradeoff for dealing more damage overall early. It's a hard call. Maybe I ought to be more concerned about providing too much quickness as well.

  6. Honestly, I think the biggest problem Banner warrior faces is that it relies on two specializations to do reliable quickness, whereas every other quickness oriented spec just needs one, usually an elite spec. While Warriors do often times take Discipline due to its versatility, forcing warriors to take  it for quickness is still more restrictive than necessary. I propose the following swap in each spec:

    Doubled Standards <-> Warrior's Cunning.

This will allow the Warrior's specs to hone in on how they want to do their damage in discipline, while letting them double down in support if they would rather do that.

this would completly butcher my "bruiser tempest". Not good.

Using the Waterelemental for sustain is a pretty big deal in pvp. If you take away the ability to heal with your waterelemental, should you not be in water... it would be a huge nerf.

I wouldn't suggest we remove the Greater Ice Elementals's heal-- Just that you should be in Water attunement to use it. The only reason why I suggest this is because Ele's will want to be able to change their greater elemental. Alternatively, it could just use it automatically, though I feel this is too close to random.

  8. I'm delving into elementalist, and doggone, does it make my hands hurt sometimes. Sometimes I want to have a nice, easy way to play ele from time to time-- a hot take for sure. one way in mind is to make using glyph of elementals a little less...  Use-on-cooldown-centric. For this reason, I would suggest making both elemental types persistent, similar to necro minions. My suggested changes are as follows:

    Glyph of Lesser Elementals:

On use, this will summon the Elemental that corresponds to your current element. If that Elemental is already summoned, this instead performs an Elemental Surge, which places the corresponding elemental aura on the elementalist and the corresponding elemental (E.G. Fire aura for fire elementals, frost aura for ice elementals, etc.). You can have one elemental per attunement this way, meaning you can have four elementals total.

    Glyph of Greater Elementals:

You can only have one Greater Elemental of any kind at a time. If you activate Glyph of Greater Elementals again while still attuned to the same element, it will perform its specific ability. If you are attuned to a different element than that of your Greater Elemental, then instead your current Elemental is unsummoned, and a new Elemental is summoned in its place of the corresponding element.

    Feedback welcome!

  9. Well Rested bonuses should work in major cities and VIP lounges.

The idea is to encourage the player to take a break using these bonuses, so that they don't strain themselves playing the game; it's why other MMOs do this.

You may want to also consider doing something like increasing the bonus from 25% Open World XP to 100% XP, so that players don't feel like time spent resting is wasted, and even offering a slight magic find boost; And even better yet, detaching it from the Arborstone masteries.

  10. A friend of mine once told me that if you want to see change in something, it's about persistence.

Turrets as they are are pretty simple to use, and I appreciate that, but the fact that they overcharge only once in their lifespan kinda stinks-- You drop them (at your feet, which is another thing), let them stick around for a while, and then blow them up. They're basically just glorified bombs, it feels, and I think that's a long way away from what they oughtta be. I would recommend changes as such:

    -Supply Crate remains unchanged.

As it stands, I think Supply Crate works perfectly as it is, and doesn't need the changes following.

-Turrets Drop In, not being set down

This is more flavorful than anything, but the animation for setting down a turret doesn't really feel awesome. I'm not saying it needs an extra blast finisher, but I think this would make it more fun.

    -Turrets can be manually overcharged

Turrets can still be detonated while they're overcharged-- But when they're not, the correlated button should rather be to activate their overcharge again (cooldown withstanding). I feel like this will give it a little more depth, without complicating things.

    -Turrets inherit your stats

As it stands, an Engineer's turrets do not inherit your stats directly. They do via certain loopholes like you being the source of burning for the flame turret, and things like that. Honestly, while I don't mind this as much, they don't benefit from your strike damage related stats, and I think that's a bit of a shame. Consider allowing them to inherit (even as low as 10%) of the player's power, precision, ferocity, etc.

    -Experimental Turrets

A slight change to this trait seems in order, I think, should the above be considered. I propose that it pulses its boons, and also reinstates its reflective barrier both upon overcharge-- This would be a good way to manage some of its more unreliable boon duration issues while also keeping them from providing too much on the whole.

Posting your suggestion does not prevent them seeing light of day. The only thing it does is open them up to community discussion, which can shoot things down or refine them.

People have suggested letters to Anet in the past, but I remember it once being stated that they can’t always implement things suggested that way. So put your suggestion in the relevant subforum and then don’t worry about it. They’ll prob see it and then it’s down to the million other factors that we can’t see whether it goes beyond that.

Anet rarely respond to posts, suggestions or feedback - keep that in mind as well

Fair enough. Worst case scenario I just take these ideas and go start my own MMO, hahaha!

Put it in the right place in the forum and hope it gets seen. There is no fast track way or better way. If you want to raise your chance make sure you don’t write a wall of text, keep it constructive, keep it concise and don’t adopt any aggressive tone towards the dev team.

The devs likely read a lot of the posts and if they like something or it fits their current philosophy, well there’s always a chance six months to a year or more it might see light of day.

This seems to be the standard, and I realize that not every post can get a response, but I worry a lot that my thoughts don't get through, or worse, that by posing them I prevent them from ever seeing the light of day again.

I'm probably being paranoid when it comes to game dev politics, but still.

  13. This is a question on my mind a lot, because I'm one of many players who have a lot of ideas on... Well, everything. Obviously I don't have the experience in game balance, design, etc; as ANet (though I'd certainly love it. Game design is something I really love) or any of the fine folks there.

But a game company like ANet has a lot of concerns they have to consider, too. Things like sweeping class changes and the like, for example, might pose a risk if proposed by a player because they haven't signed certain documents, or they might feel entitled to compensation or some such nonsense-- Or at least, that's how I understand it.

But at the same time, I can't help but want to give my ideas out, consequence free, on things like making Tempest feel a little more modern and interactive, or new specializations or tweaks to old ones.

So, TL;DR: The question is, what can we suggest, and what's the best way to see our suggestions implemented if we feel so strongly about them? (Realistically, an idea isn't always good, but...)

  14. With another expansion on the (quite distant) horizon, I can't help but feel that this might be a great opportunity to let players offer some input on what they would like to see next in the game.

I propose opening an elite specialization design contest, in which players design them based on set parameters and themes.

For example, the next expansion might shoot for a gothic fantasy sort of theme, and so maybe you'd like to see a fitting elite specialization that centers around creepiness, or horror, or what have you.

    What are your thoughts?
