Ok, I think I get it now - during this promotion, if you log in and check your mail, you get the in-game token to unlock the episode permanently for your account. If you don't log in during a specific episode's week, you essentially lose out on getting that episode unlocked for free? (Sorry for all the clarification questions! I kept wondering why I was getting these LW episodes unlocked, lol.)

Oh, interesting. Then if OP's friend waits long enough, shouldn't they eventually get many of the episodes opened up for free? If I'm understanding this correctly?

Ah, understood. Thanks! Do you know how long the episodes stay open? All the ones that have come up that I listed are still open and available for me to play, including the ones from 4-5 weeks ago.

Brand new player here - started in early August. Every week, I receive a letter in my in-game mail telling me about the LW season and episode that is available for me to play. I haven't purchased anything in LW seasons 3 or 4, but have S3 episodes 5 and 6 open to me, as well as S4 episodes 1-4. I also have a message on my screen that tells me LW S4 episode 5 will begin in 6 days. I have the base game, as well as the HoT and PoF expansions. I'm not sure if these LW seasons are only available to me for a short time, but I thought I'd let you know. Hope you and your friend are enjoying the game. My husband and I are really having a good time. 🙂
