According to this graph, player 2 is screwed from the get-go. It will be difficult and next to impossible for player 2 to progress to player 1's level, assuming player 2 even bothers to grind so many matches.

This pretty much echoes what me and many other players have said: The most important matches are the placements. They determine your season. After those, what is even the point of playing after placing high except to stave off decay. It's the most NONSENSICAL thing ever. Really, you're better off with some sort of win/loss percentage based system or round-robin format, like it's done in sports--assuming you want things to be fair and competitive, that is.

Bro it's so easy climbing out of silver that if you're stuck there, quite simply you belong in silver.

I am not even sure if people play with their monitor turned on in silver.

This is the main reason why ArenaNet prevents people from queuing and leaving the map, because people with slower computers tend to not load quick enough after going through multiple loading screens.

It is a bug if it doesn’t let you in on the same character you logged off on. Lol

No its not, once the match starts it won't let you back in.

It's doing that to prevent people from changing builds outside in towns and then joining back into the match.

That's by design, not by a bug.

But I can log out during a match and back in fine with no issue on the same character? I guess it’s just during that final countdown before the match begins? That’s why it feels unintentional to me. Because it’s just that few second window. Otherwise it just loads you straight into the match with your previous build.

I am sure there is some underlying technical reason why it's different before the match starts. Maybe because game code is likely shared, it is there to prevent exploits of some kind. Like imagine if you could use teleport to a friend to a PvP match and suddenly you're a top 10 player in a silver game. But I do recall there was a point in time where it was possible to swap characters mid match but obviously the current state today is it has been disabled.

Regardless, it is intentionally programmed to prevent people from joining a match.

However, there's nothing stopping them from eliminating the need for that restriction now that they have build templates. They could just simply add code to the game to lock in the players build and equipment templates to exactly what they were before the match started. It would no longer be necessary to prevent people from joining matches that have already started.

But any type of coding costs money and they have to prioritize things, plus we wouldn't have any idea if its really that simple or how long it would take.

Makes no sense to complain about something that wouldn't make a difference even players actually tried to benefit from it. Nobody keeps their Facet up, nobody tries to Empower Misery with as many conditions on them, what does it matter. It'll always be Infuse Light with the least difficult way to pack up damage that will restore health. Sage has nothing to do with it.

It just depends, if you're going against a power centered team and they're relatively high on the ladder, they're not going to just full heal you. They become much more aware of it the higher your rating is and it becomes less useful.

If it's a condition team, yeah it's easy because you can't just turn off conditions.

I actually do keep my facet up when I need to have a lot more sustain (i.e 2v1 while waiting for backup) when running sages because the regeneration heals for a lot more

@Nekromalistik.7045 said:Simply that, the damage caused by the conditions only requires a single stat to be boosted, unlike the power that depends on 3 (and good luck with the critics), with this you could put a stop to the tank/condi/sustain builds without nerfing their damage or direct resistance (fb, condi druid, revenant mallyx (i play this), and mirage), it doesn't bother me that they can be take toughness, but also seeing that the aforementioned classes have general damage reducers it's disgusting to see how they go from having 45% health to 90% life while doing insane damage, unlike a healing power that hits you with a paper sword.

I feel like I am missing something here, but I don't really see most of these builds actually using condi/healing amulets? I mean, mirage with healing power? Since when is that a thing? Aren't firebrands mostly using power-based Mender's stats? Aren't core necro and condi mallyx running carrion? The only builds I can think of routinely pairing healing with condi are condi druids and weavers, but I don't think either of those builds are even meta. So how exactly did you arrive at the conclusion that condi/healing is the culprit here?

Are we even playing the same game?

Rev can use sages because a lot of our traits do passive healing and we can give ourselves plenty of regeneration and the shield heals for a considerable amount more compared to carrion.

Typically I find sages a death sentence if they're running berserker because of the less health. But if they're not running power, it works well against pressure against you because you can be more aggressive and survive longer (which can let you do more damage than carrion).

@Chase.8415 said:I agree that it is a bit unfair for duo teams to be in 2'sWhat's not fair? You can find a friend and queue together. You can do far more matches in a much shorter period of time with 2's, that the 15 game limit per week doesn't make any sense.Conquest is capped at 15min. Most games last 10-12min (not counting ready-up time).Compare that to 2v2. Let's say you play 4 rounds average and each lasts 3min. That's the same amount of time. The only time it goes faster in 2v2 is when you have two DPS heavy teams.

Vast majority of my 2's matches did not take that long. I'd say maybe one match out of 10 they would actually go to timer for multiple rounds. Other than that, they were usually very quick.

Thanks for ignoring my part where I said it was not feasible for me to find a friend.I went from mid silver to gold t3 in the same season. Most people don't drastically jump ranks like that, so if I made a friend in silver, I'd obviously would have to ditch him if I wanted to move beyond silver.

The reason why it's not fair is the simple fact that you get to control the entire outcome of your team, including voice communications. This is not really much of an issue for 5v5 because they have disabled teams of 5 in 5v5, for this exact reason... makes it very unfair to those who solo in the game, which is the vast majority of the population in PvP.

There were very few duo teams I'd face, until the last day when everyone was trying to get top 250. Because the game limit was so short, people who didn't play at all for the entire season ended up in top 250, because 60 matches wasn't very much.

  8. I agree that it is a bit unfair for duo teams to be in 2's, but the biggest problem I saw this weekend was the game limit for top 250.You can do far more matches in a much shorter period of time with 2's, that the 15 game limit per week doesn't make any sense.

Basically, people waited until Sunday to queue up as duos and then get their 60+ games in to secure a spot in top 250.If the game limit was much more reasonable, there would have been much less players in top 250 that waited until the last day.

The fact you could queue up as a duo, put a serious disadvantage to players like me.I quit the game like 5 years ago and came back. Because I went from mid silver to gold t3 in a short period of time, even if I made friends I basically outskilled them and could no longer play with them anyway.

I ended up losing top 250 by 3 points, I was in top 250 for like 2 weeks. It took awhile, (580 matches) because again, I quit like 5 years ago and came back.Something tells me because Conquest enforces a maximum of 2 players being grouped and it also has a much larger game limit (with longer matches) that top 250 will be much easier.

The real simple fact is, the more games you play, the more accurate your rating. If it takes games like Overwatch 200+ games to really get your true rating, I cannot expect a game like Gw2 to be more accurate.

I have serious doubts that many of those in top 250 are actually that rating because they haven't played enough matches to stabilize their real rating.

  9. I already let Trevor know, but the guy who left suddenly before the match started was me.

What happened was my cat puked on the fan grating while I was playing. I didn't hear the warning sounds because I was wearing noise cancelling headphones. It was the worst kind too, it was pure liquid. My computer shorted immediately and I wasn't able to get back on until about 2 hours later when whatever it was on my machine evaporated.

The story where I had been doing this more than once that night is complete BS though. Not to mention, even if I did the dishonor would kick in so rampantly that it would be impossible to do so.

I didn't intentionally leave the match on purpose, s**t happens.

Out of 580 matches I played, I only left 1 for the reason mentioned above.
