  1. And if any gets to the end - WP has a point... Vote with your wallet.that's the fundamental problem with these types of cashshops, when they're set up this way, the average player has zero to a few votes, a smaller group that has dozens, and minor group of whales with hundreds or even thousands of votes. there's a reason companies do the RNG this way, it's to squeeze everything they can out of the whales and to squeeze a little bit extra out of the people willing to spend alot. the fact that some people who are driven away or refuse to pay into these systems is offset by the fact that for every 200 of them there's one guy willing to spend 201+'s players worth of money. the non-shitty thing to do is set moderate-to-high prices for individual pieces of cosmetics like they did for gliders and backpacks, and let everyone buy specifically what they want without having to buy anything they don't. whales will still be whales, and the small to moderate spenders can still get what they want.
  2. If you had to pay real world cash for every random drop, i bet you'd see the difference really fast. Which is not the case here.so is it the same as a random drop or isn't it? at this point you're arguing with yourself
  3. They are letting players buy them outright if you buy the bundle. It's not cheap, but it's there. And you could win the lottery if you just buy a ticket for every possible combination of numbers. this. everyone arguing "it's not gambling because you can buy them all" is wasting time on pointless semantics. except for a tiny portion of dedicated collectors and/or whales, most people only want a handful of these 30 skins, not every last one. every skin they pay for but don't want is a lost dice roll. just because there's a fixed total number of possible times to lose doesn't mean it isn't gambling. Call it gambling if you want, but this is nothing different than getting a random drop.really? That's ridiculous and you know it. To compare 1:30 chance to 1:1,000,000+ chance is absurd.about as absurd as comparing a random drop to something that costs $5.00? I could join a farm and get hundreds of random drop chances per hour. who's paying you 1000$/hr to play GW2?

  5. Honestly, all it really comes down to is who's in charge of making the decision. If it's the actual devs, we might have a shot at getting this nonsense fixed. If it's anyone in charge of maximizing profits, we're screwed. It really doesn't matter how many people 'vote with their wallet' or refuse to ever give Anet another dime, because for every 20 of those people there's one whale who will gladly spend 20+ people's share of cash on gems. the majority of the playerbase that isn't even aware of why this business model is so scummy, or simply don't care, so lootboxes remain more profitable and the ill-will relatively easy to ignore. The obvious method of pricing these mounts would be allowing you to simply pick the one you want with various tiers of gem prices with pretty steep costs for the crazy glowing ones. some would still complain, but many more people would buy them. The problem is that it's almost always more profitable to do lootbox style systems because while drastically less people will buy into it, the ones who do pay more. whether that's whales, people predisposed towards gambling, or those who hate the system but just have to have that one particular thing and will keep pulling the lever until they get it.
