The boon balls were taking too long to cap while chasing down suicide solos trying to stop the ring progress, enjoy your smaller rings.

    🤷‍♂️

I will enjoy my smaller rings, some of the lamest "PvP" I've ever experienced in WvW was being 1v1 at a camp where you have some PPT hero on a minstrel build running around a building trying to endlessly stall. Those buildings at certain camps will no longer be in the ring, they will now have to fight if they want to keep their camp. It's a good change.

  2. I only play this game occasionally these days, but the first thing I noticed when I installed this time (end of feb) was that a lot of people on my follow/block lists who I would have described as addicted to this game have either stopped playing or are playing a lot less. (this is on EU btw)

Similar thing on Discord, first thing I saw was the one tryhard guild that the server+link had between them had disbanded that week due to them being bored to death of the way the combat/meta has gone. According to their guild leader they are not alone in this, other guilds have also disbanded / gone on a break for similar reasons.

Of the three people I actually talk to (outside of the game) still deranged enough to play WvW on a regular basis, 2 have gone on a break / possibly quit, 1 is now mostly playing sPvP.

I expect once I've played about for a bit after this balance patch on the assumption it makes no real difference I too will uninstall again.

And for the devs who seem to need this explaining, you've managed to turn what was once pretty good by the standards of large scale combat into dross. When I join a Discord group up to 80% of the players are on support builds, that alone should tell you how wrong things are. But then you sit there in a ball barely moving, much of the time I move more doing the Dragons End boss than I do when I play WvW in an organised group.

Not only have you made the combat so bad even WvW players (who aren't exactly the most fussy when it comes to quality / skilled gameplay) are being turned off by it, but you've managed to make it even more binary. Years ago if you had one server that was a bit more tryhard and one that was bit more casual, the more casual server could get carried by a group of decent players so you would have reasonably decent fights between the two, at least some of the time, but that doesn't really happen anymore. Which is boring for everyone.

The result of which is now even your "addicted" players are leaving / playing less, the low server populations reflect that, maybe combined with how they determine the thresholds if they for example base it off the most populated server (WSR in this case).

When is anet going to nerf the engi... or nobody will play other class.

Why would they nerf engy when it is one of the least played classes by actual competent players?

Below is the most recent MAT (EU), on quick perusal I see few engies, there are more thieves, mesmers, guardians, eles, revs, etc, in fact it could well be the least represented class there. So why is it that actual competent players are choosing to largely not use it, but you think it is the most busted thing in the game, I wonder what the reason could be... 😉

Heaven forbid they get confused emotes on their main account.

Which incidentally brings up one of the reasons alliances are so poorly thought out. The notion that alliances will bring meaningful balance between "worlds" when so many players have multiple accounts (especially tryhard players) is laughable. And if they ever add decent rewards, then you only have to look at PvP to see the lengths people will go to in order to "win".

I don't expect anyone outside the European megaserver or even on international European megaservers to understand this major problem...

It goes both ways, it will also be problem for many players who do not speak French, German or Spanish.

For example when alliances are a thing say my guild gets put on a "world" where the two alliances are German, what are we as non-German speakers meant to do outside of guild raids, it will be pointless joining Discord as it will understandably be in German, it will be even worse for solo players.

Alliances will finally kill off this game mode.

  6. So far it has been pretty dismal. To take a couple of examples one of my accounts is on Griffonfall (EU) we currently have a k/d ratio of 1.67 the other 2 teams quite rightly spent most of the weekend avoiding fights, because they obviously don't have as many tryhards on their teams. So unless one is a PvE hero who roleplays one sided "PvP" / bag farming is skilled, fun gameplay (which granted is exactly what a lot of WvW players / guilds left are), the match up is mostly trash.

On another account by midnight on reset night the borders were 90% green (they also had SM), then during the day time the next day most of the maps spent a lot of time red, so that matchup so far has essentially put players that don't play at the same time against each other, brilliant, more thrilling gameplay...

That's one a the main negative issues with End of Dragons, none of the specs really work in zerg fights.

It isn't an issue with End of Dragons, it is an issue with WvW and zerg fights in particular. You can't expect them to design specs with no pets, no heavy reliance on projectiles, not be condition based and so on, just to accommodate zerglings roleplaying at PvP in a way that completely breaks much of the combat in this game.

And then even if a spec doesn't use mechanics that are useless in zergs and fits the narrow confines of what is "good" in zergs, to get a place it still has to be stronger than Firebrand, Scrapper, Scourge, etc. Which is unlikely to happen given they are all absolutely busted OP in zergs.

Trying to design to accommodate for something as niche and broken as WvW zergs is pointless and detrimental to the game, especially given how dead the game mode is.

  8. No thanks, it makes it a worse stat in most cases, because the movement speed stat would basically be redundant on a lot of builds or very often if you are playing in a group (and the - condi duration isn't much better in that respect).

Let me guess, you mainly play solo and you play something lacking movement speed like mesmer, DH, etc.

  9. There should be a fair system, so support players should indeed get the same bags and WXP as DPS.

And on the same basis of fairness on the rare occasions I still bother to play this dead game mode, if I kill a guy 1v1 worth 100 WXP, I should get 100 WXP and 1 bag. And if I am in a 50 man zerg and we 50 v 1 the same guy, then I should get 2 WXP and a 1 in 50 chance of getting that bag.

...few guilds also, but those are none worth really naming. it's more roleplaying...

No guilds are worth naming, because as a skilled, competitive PvP game WvW is a joke, to pretend otherwise is simply more roleplaying.

Now there's 'two' most busted irreplaceable God tier support classes since 2018, and the reason all the other supports over that time have been referred to as 'secondary support' of druid tempest ventari, aren't needed, at all.

Druid & Ventari weren't needed before Scrapper, so nothing changed in that respect. All that basically happened is the busted Tempest got replaced by the more busted Scrapper. Maybe one day they will invent something so busted it will replace Firebrand (that hopefully is not yet another Guardian elite).

Just think some silly PvP games that are actually successful do things like keeping the meta fresh to retain players, but Anet are big brain they save on server bills.

  12. 16 hours ago, nerva.7940 said:

Scrapper is entirely busted. If it's toned down significantly, Druids and Ventari would be used more. There are enough supports, just one of them is too busted OP.

The most busted support is the one that has been the irreplaceable God tier support class the entire game and the reason all the other supports over that time have been referred to as 'secondary support' and that ain't engy.

I put the game into decline following the removal of teams.

    This is true.

    Not a single uptick since.

    ---

No one cares about your e-sport heroes, but remember they left when teams were removed and the esl was abolished lol.

    Again, I'm right.

    --

Nonsense, PvP has been in decline most of the game, including when there were various options to let people queue as 5.

I don't have any "e-sport" heroes, I simply pointed out contrary to your claims, most of the tryhard PvP guys who came to this game quit before even HoT was launched, a declining PvP population is not new or something that only started when they changed to solo/duo seasons.

1 hour ago, Crab Fear.1624 said:

I'm not asking to split the population, I am saying it should be teams only.

I didn't say you were asking for the population to be split, the point was years and years ago when in your little fantasy world the PvP population was "healthy", the reality was the population was already so small the devs didn't want 2 queues, because it would split the already small population.

Team queues or anything else will not save PvP, PvP has been in decline most of the game, including when there were options to queue as a 5 man. You are playing a 10 year old themepark MMORPG with completely compromised balance / design, metas that drag on for an eternity and a population too small to do anything with (which has been the case most of the game), the only future is decline. Which is natural for games this old and especially PvP in themepark MMORPGs, there is nothing they can do about that.

If you want competitive PvP then play a dedicated PvP game with a decent population, and guess what, they still cater to solo / duo, because the vast majority of people (especially those with a life and some money) play solo / duo at least some of the time.

  14. 1 hour ago, Crab Fear.1624 said:

You are making points that are not factually true.

The game mode was healthy and crashed after teams were removed.

LOL, the game mode has been in permanent decline outside of temporary boosts from things like F2P, expansions, the initially novelty of seasons, etc. And that has been regardless of whether they had team, solo, "dynamic", ranked, unranked, etc.

I hate to break it to you, but most of the actual tryhard PvP players who came here looking for their "e-sport", left the game before HoT with the likes of Teldo. PvP has not been healthy for a very long time, which is why they had to try and bribe PvE / WvW players to play it with rewards, why the devs were not keen on having both a team queue and a solo queue because it would split the small population, etc.

Are we? Didn't we play elementalist for the mage gameplay?

Not really, if I wanted the sort of traditional very fixed classes like "wizard with staff", then I wouldn't play GW2, its not that sort of game and never has been. So maybe you should stop claiming to speak for the "community", because you certainly don't speak for me (favourite ele is d/d).

"What's an Ele?" asked the little boy.

A class played predominately by snowflakes who were fine being meta in WvW most of the game, but have been throwing their toys out of their pram for the last year or so, because they are finally experiencing a little of what engy, ranger and thief put up with for most of the game.

  18. If you want PvP with decent balance then don't play an MMORPG (especially not a themepark one). You should consider yourself fortunate you got 3(ish) years of design and balance being virtually entirely around PvP, which is pretty rare for this type of game.

But once they decided to add raids and PvE went "serious" then the game was done as a PvP game, you should have followed Teldo out the door, long, long ago. Or do what anyone sensible does, which is go play their tryhard PvP in a dedicated PvP game and just play GW2 (Or any other MMORPG) PvP as something on the side, to screw about in and not to be taken seriously.

  19. I don't know which is funnier,  PPT guys who think "winning" (or even trying) matters in a 24/7 game mode, with different team sizes, where you can transfer team and that is usually a foregone conclusion.

Or "fight" guys who play a game mode where most "fights" are garbage, because the game mode lacks mechanisms to produce competitive encounters. And which as a skilled PvP game is not even mediocre.

Roleplayer is what best sums up the entire WvW playerbase, especially in 2021.
