Any devlopment related to PvP has been stopped long ago. I guess Anet would laugh if they read such discussion.

I lost the caunt how many times I got flamed in private chat long after game ended. Mostly by one who go afk after first lost fight in mid. My rank is low and get flamed by felow low rank player is ridicilous. I do not want to play ranked pvp and I would play unranked but then I dont get rewards.
The solution is to not play pvp at all. Not because of unbalance and what not. People are crying about that since 2012. But because of players. Toxic players like you ruined gw2 pvp not Anet. I rather play with bots. They atleast don't give up and not spaming chat.
I think it is quite the opposite. Not toxic players ruined PvP it was Anet. They are responsible for game design, match making or how to handle (or not handle) reports. Everything that is a problem today is by no means because of toxic players. It is mainly a result of resources spent elsewhere.

There was once incentive to keep playing a lost match. Anet game designers removed it.

Part of good sportsmanship is playing hard even when the score is 495-100.
There is no sportsmanship in GW2 PvP because there is no fair competion.

Everything gets overshadowed by the fact that Anet has zero interest in PvP. With EoD everything became so unfun.

Anet does nothing for PvP. I guess there is not even enough manpower left to shut it down.

There are a few classes that can fill a suport role. Though GW2 has not that strict tank/healer/dps concept. I would just try different classes to find out what fits you most. Unlike other MMOs leveling is so fast. The limit is more the number of free character slots an account has.

The game mode most in need of balance gets ignored again. Open world PvE is already boring easy. At least the changes and even more what does not change is consistent with the direction the game takes.

Rifle mechanist is a brainless spam spec game designers see as the future of PvE it seems. Not that it maters much for PvP. Though it makes a dead game mode even worse imho.

Last patch was about personal preferences. Whatever some designer likes to play gets buffed. You can also spot what specs they don't like to play ;-).

It translates to "PvP is dead. We have no intention to revive it."
Or more polite "Our focus is on replayable PvE content."

I want underpowered specs to get buffed before any nerf.

Issue with balance is not that there are overpowered specs. It is that it doesn't get better overall. Viable specs get nerfed and not so popular (or new) specs get overbuffed until they get nerfed as well. A balancing approach around how popular something is will never lead to balance in a sense of making specs comparable strong. Besides it feels like never ending beta testing.

There is MAT for a handful player. Other than that PvP died in 2015 when Stronghold was a fail.

At this point it nothing matters anymore.

If you want to keep players in the match you have to give more reason than just an unlikely chance to win. There was a game mechanic that kept players in a match even when it was lost. Anet removed that incentive. I think they wanted to make PvP more competitive - reflecting players skill. Anyway nothing of it matters anymore.

Match quality is like zero. Uneven one sited matches wherever you look in ranked. No wonder people go afk. So why "punish" player when anet is to blame for developing PvP into trash mode.

Notice how thieves can't have nice things for years. But other classes? Np.
D/P thief 2 sec daze - no cast time.
Harbinger 1 sec daze - 3/4 sec cast time. That's pretty lame for PvP.

Why nerfing scourge? It in no way overperforms.

Toxicity is probably part of any competitive game mode. There is very litle in GW2 PvP game design that would encourage positivity. The litle there was they even removed ...

If you think it is bad already just wait for EoD 🤭.

Balancing in PvP is also about population not just how good a class/spec performs. There are more necros in PvP than other classes. I think it is because it is easier to play with a big health pool instead reactive with blocks, evades and so on. In that logic it makes sense to add an underperforming spec for necro. Just to keep class diversity up.

i was shocked to see the state of spvp
in Player vs. Player

The only reason why PvP hasn't been shut down is propably the steam release. It would just look bad. However it is a toxic trap for new player who might not know.
