  1. Give them some time - I'm sure they can work on getting the dependencies up and running in 64 bit. quietly abandoned.HELLO!!!ANYBODY HOME???
  2. THIS is why I and others have been asking frequently for the Mac 'lead' at Anet, if any, to come out and say Hi! to our community.Really sad that still no one at Anet has said Hi! to us yet... :anguished: I guess the 'cross-compiling' part is most important now for us Mac GW2-ers, and if no present nor continuing optimization of this part at ANet to match well with the latest Mac OS and graphic API like Metal, very much worrisome future indeed. Than again, Mac client may live like now, somewhat in the shadows, as long as WIN$ client and the GW2 game itself stays alive. At least, we can continue to play GW2, for a while, although not at optional condition. Still makes me worry..
  3. @Menadena.7482 said:They upgraded relatively recently .... to include a deprecated product? Which makes about as much sense as rewriting everything to make it 64 bit but leaving in a 32 bit dependency.:astonished: VERY BAD PLANNING... Latest roadmap, please ANet!
  4. Metal, please!!! And NOW!!! So much better graphics, with much lower system and hardware requirements.I really hope the ANet's roadmap for Mac 64-bit GW2 is already set to be ported to full-Metal compliant AND fully 64-bit, and to happen soon, or rather IS happening at this very moment. Can't wait, ANet!
  5. Soooooo, does this mean that GW2 Mac 64-bit would/should/possibly/maybe run OK on the coming 64-bit only Mac OS 10.15 Catalina?I AM close to actually getting a new Mac, and probably during this year 2019, and I definitely want to continue enjoying (although at somewhat a lower graphics settings...) GW2. Can't just stop playing when you've already committed to crafting legendary Exordium [&AgG3YQEA], as I just recently finished crafting the pre Exitare [&AgEDYwEA]. ;) BTW, as I've asked before, WHERE are the Mac devs at ANet? Shy to come out and say Hi! to the Mac GW2 community here?Or, new corporate policies making it unable to 'talk' here?Knock knock! Please come out, and feed us Mac GW2-ers some much needed updates and future visions, positive AND negative, anything, and wishfully everything.
  6. I'm interested in this too, but it looks like we won't get a reply. We're now just one week away from WWDC and Apple releasing the first dev beta of the next version of macOS, which GW2 presumably won't run on unless ArenaNet fixes this. At the very least, they need to fix it in the next three months or there are going to be a lot of people who upgrade to macOS and then find GW2 no longer runs. Hopefully Apple doesn't also take the opportunity to change OpenGL from deprecated to removed in the next version, or the 64-bit issue will be the least of our worries (it does seem more likely that OpenGL will be available for a little while longer, but we'll find out soon enough...). Yes, ironically by rewriting they could have made the situation worse. I really do not care about skyscales and such if I am unable to actually play the game on my machine. Does anyone know if they even have a mac team over there now?Oh man... This all sounds 'not good' for Mac GW2-ers at all... And for one that is seriously thinking it is time to get a new Mac, the future does not look any good for GW2-ing on the newer and faster Mac to get. I am also very much puzzled that Anet's Mac destination has NOT been official or even un-officially announced anywhere after the massive internal change on the development side. Besides, WHO are the Mac people within Anet now? Please come out and say Hi! to this GW2-loving, yet very worried Mac community, and right now.We are very much worried of our GW2 on Mac.
  7. I wonder who is the next/present lead for all things Mac-related at GW2 HQ?Peek out to say Hi! to everyone?
  8. Wait, if you are using/playing the 64-bit GW2 Mac app, then it should NOT contain any trace of WINE Windows emulator, right? The 64-bit GW2 Mac app should be a Mac-native app, correct? Are some somehow still playing the depreciated 32-bit Mac app?Or, am I totally missing something here?Could someone please provide me/us with the correct information about how the 64-bit GW2 Mac app is written/programed?Thanks!
  9. I have the same questions, yet specifically More Cores = More Playable GW2?20 fps is not what I would want...
  10. Hi all!So, today macOS Mojave is out.I am also thinking of getting a new Mac. (Yeah!)There are several BIG questions regarding new Mac, new mac OS, with GW2 Mac 64-bit client. Not sure which newest Mac to get, yet thinking of the new MacBook Pro 13 inch touch-bar with quad core, or the 15 inch touch-bar with 6 cores + dedicated graphic chip.(Well, really want the newest & baddest Mac mini, but no sign of it coming out at all... Apple, please!)My Questions: Is the Touch-bar still useless with GW2? Have macOS Mojave fixed this? Or, will this be fixed eventually? Or, is Touch bar a gimmick.Does GW2 run nicely, or even better on macOS Mojave?Does GW2 run nicely, or even better on the new more-cores MacBook Pros, either 13 inch or 15 inch?Being able to play GW2 on a Mac (in portable or small form factor), and with better output, is key to what I am going to do next with my new Mac purchase.I know everything else will definitely be better than what I have right now, which are getting too old.Any useful and constructive info, and kind suggestions, are very much welcome! Thanks in advance!
  11. MAC CLIENT Fixed some of the issues relating to light rendering.Things getting better for every Mac GW2-er?
  12. Quick question: Base macOS Sierra, or updated to macOS High Sierra?
  13. Anyone lucky and wealthy enough to play GW2 on the new 4-core and 6-core MBP yet?Or even with the Blackmagic Thunderbolt 3 eGPU? REALLY curious...
  14. 07/10/2018—July 10 Release NotesMAC CLIENT[edit]Subtitles shown during cinematics now scale appropriately when the window is resized. Some updates for us. Some...
  15. Have heard somewhere here in this tread that GW2 is NOT Metal with no intention at Anet to move to Metal ATM, meaning GW2 is OpenGL and will be stuck to it fro a while, maybe.
  16. "Mac ClientAdded functionality to clean client cache files that were generated between builds." Yeah, Progress! Please keep up the great work, for the Mac players!
  17. Hmmm... awfully, or peacefully, quite here lately...Is everyone having a 'ball' playing the Mac 64-bit GW2 app?All much better now?Just curious...
  18. FYI, interesting article on AppleInsider about the next-gen Mac mini, possibly to arrive this year 2018.Mac mini: What we want to see in an update to Apple's low-cost desktop Wish BIG and bold!!!
  19. FYI, about playing off external SDD drives, I bought off Amazon a Monster Digital Overdrive Thunderbolt (SSDOT-0240-A), a 240 GB SDD connected by Thunderbolt 2 to my Macs, at the cost of $150. The disk speed is VERY fast, faster than the USB3 external SDD drives I've tested so far. Minimum 2 times, maybe 3 times as fast. The GW2 loads very quickly, with minimal wait time, even on my Mac mini (2011), and plays fine, at the lowest settings, that is...
  20. The 64-client is smooth on Sierra, no problems at all anymore! Like Menadena said: I also wouldn't recommend playing on a Mini and/or minimum specs. It's good if you're on the road, but at home, look for an upgrade or at least a breakout-box for an eGPU. Um, I've been playing on a Mini. In fact, I play on a 2014 mini. I run the game off an external SSD for speed, but apart from that, it's working GREAT since the last patch. If a brand new Mac Mini is 'not compatible' with the game, something drastic has changed. From what Calisanna said, the problem isn't that the specs are too low, but that the game is considered not compatible with something in the new Mini. Which might end up being a problem for everyone, if whatever's incompatible is something that's going to be appearing in more new Macs. Calisanna, I think you ought to write back and ask support exactly what part of your brand new computer is incompatible, because it sounds weird that the Mac version is incompatible with a new Mac. I wonder if the support guy you talked to was confused.I, too, play on a Mac mini of 2011(!), and it is just fine to play, although obviously not the best.Mac mini (Mid 2011) (Spec-ed best CTO build back then...), still running 10.11 El Capitan (avoiding High Sierra just for GW2)2.7 GHz Intel Core i7 (Dual core, wished it was quad...)16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 (max-ed out)AMD Radeon HD 6630M 256 MB (Discrete GPU, but tiny RAM size for present standards...)w/ two (2) 27" 1920 x 1080 Full HD IPS-LED LCD monitorsand GW2 on external Thunderbolt 2 SSD drive (Wicked-fast, probably the fastest-possible external Thunderbolt 2 drive I can use with my (old) Mac mini) Yes, I would love to have a faster & newer Mac, with Thunderbolt 3, but mine still works fine so far for my needs.
  21. Hi all!Just curious, as GW2 being a 'CPU-heavy' game, has anyone played using the latest Sonnet's eGFX Breakaway Puck?Just read an online review, and was wondering if it's worth the investment, for playing GW2 on a Mac with Thunderbolt3.AppleInsider: "First look: Sonnet's eGFX Breakaway Puck RX570 delivers on-the-go graphics power to MacBook Pro"
  22. From my understanding, the disk I/O bug was not a High Sierra-specific problem. My wife plays on a 2011 iMac with Sierra and suffered from the disk I/O bug since the initial 64-bit release. The recent bug fix improved performances on her iMac so much that she could raise the settings and is now playing with most settings to Medium. She's extremely happy now, in fact. She says it looks almost like a new game. Regarding my experience, what I can say for sure is that High Sierra triggered the disk I/O bug for me. I was not experiencing it with Sierra. I don't know the reason, and as a software developer this makes me curious enough to ask for a post-mortem about the bug. Now that the disk I/O has been fixed, my experience with High Sierra is equivalent to what I had with Sierra. If there's a difference it is so minimal I can't say what it affects or of how much. Thanks, I really hope HS is fixed now too. I run it at work but would like to finally be able to upgrade my home systems. I, too, am waiting to upgrade to 10.13 High Sierra, from present 10.11 El Capitan, until the HS issue is confirmed 'gone'. And with 10.14 coming, I am not sure how long my 'OK' days playing GW2 on 10.11 is going to last.
  23. Welcome back to GW2! Unfortunately, your timing of return was not opportune, as what you are experiencing (or not...) is the sad reality of GW2 on Mac at this moment. This tread has a TON of info on others' situations, obviously most all negative as those would post here, while looking for answers. The one's with working & playable GW2, they most likely wouldn't post here. There are a few posts on Hackintosh users here as well, and some working, some not so lucky. And seems one issue is with the latest Mac OS X 10.13 High Sierra, and some including me are actually holding off upgrading to High Sierra just because of this problem.Others, high I/O disk activity, and obviously graphic issues, possibly caused by different configurations of everyone's Mac, even thought it is not an infinite variety like in PC. We are all mostly just waiting for THE people 'high up there', to identify and to fix problems within the Mac 64-bit GW2 app to an acceptable level, as soon as possible, and then release it for us Mac users to play GW2 happily. No ETA announced yet, unfortunately, so our waiting continues... (beachball rotates forever here)
