Don't be too sad for Mabon. I'm sure there will be another "the very last Mursaat" in future. Such as a "this_time_for_real_last_dwarf".

funny thing about that, if I remember right one of Mabon's notes he made hinted that a group of Mursaat may have not turned evil before the events of their race going Evil happened and decided to separate themselves from the Evil Mursaat and establish a home somewhere in the Mist or Tyria. I forgot which note it was but this does mean there are maybe Mursaat still alive out there just that all Last Mursaat of the Evil Faction are now gone leaving only the Good/Neutral Faction of Mursaat.

My problem with the way the engi sword works in general is that this mechanic would have better suited a charge based weapon as you would be better rewarded for getting streams of attacks off while not overly pressured to immediately use the abilities.

I honestly think the sword should just be completely redesigned at this point. It was never intended originally to be used outside of Holosmith which is why it is having so many issues right now when players try to use it outside of Holosmith.

Anet will need to completely revamp how the Sword skills work to account for the new Weapon Master system.

It has to do with the CD reduction alignment with the actual cooldowns of the skills. And it's not just about the established builds and how much it impacts those and their performance, it's about the role and usability of the weapon as a whole.

For me personally the change impacted Radiant Arc because now it's almost impossible to use it twice before cooling from ~150 to 100 heat and in my build I want to be doing that as part of the 100% quickness uptime.

Everyone has their reasons for liking or not liking the change, the reason why I think a poll is good is because it provides a clear representation of what people think about the change. And as I said in the original post, I feel like it doesn't manage to accomplish the reason it was introduced, to reduce AA camping.

Polls are nice to get opinions of those who go on the forums but a good amount of player feedback is still missing due to these players not using the forums or just here to see what is being posted instead of interacting with what is posted.

If we can get the feedback of the players focus on playing the game more then we can get a better view on the opinions as a majority.

Sometimes the feedback on the forums is not accurate to the feedback of the majority since the opinion on the forums may not be in line with the majority that play the game, just the small amount of people who only put effort voicing their opinion on the forums.

If the Commander is a Sylvari they actually  have no life to return to, as they started their heroic journey before even awakening.

even as a Sylvari character, it is still a issue of him/her not knowing what to do with their life now after they have finally completed their Wyld Hunt.

Though slightly different from the other origins, the issue remains the same for a Sylvari Commander. Being unable to adjust to a life that is no longer involved in constantly fighting Elder Dragons and saving the world.

Heck, Caithe is dealing with the whole thing better than the Commander since she chosen to continue supporting the Crystal Bloom to find a new purpose and keep the organization going until Aurene awakens once again.

It honestly feels strange how Anet been avoiding this and how Peitha been basically feeding this desire in the Commander.

  5. I think the issue with the story currently is how they are not covering the issue that the Commander has right now they present in the begin of SoO being that the Commander is mostly lost on what to do with his/her life since he/she spent years doing one thing and that is fighting Elder Dragons to save the World. Now he/she has a hard time returning to their original life before they began their journey in the Zhaitan Arc. Literally that Veteran from War that returns and having a hard time adjusting back to civilian life.

The Commander currently is the only one having issues moving on with a normal life where he/she is no longer on a journey trying to save the world while everyone else have moved on and found something to do with their lives. Some found a job which most of Dragon's Watch have done while some are just recovering from the aftermath like Braham with his PTSD issues.

The whole SoO event was basically a happy accident for the Commander as he/she is now doing Hero work again which I do not think is healthy for the Commander because he/she been all too happy to get involved with this Save the World event since that all he/she is use to now.

I don't think instadown mechanisms are particularly good game design. It is just matter of reflexes, not brains or strategy. Dodge an attack or die. Does this promote smart game-play or just mere reflex test and bind dodge key e.g. to your extra mouse button (what I have done) ?

Secondly the open world pve in this game is superbly easy if you have full ascended geared level 80-level character. I play a sub-optimal core engineer build, with zero block skills, invulnerability, no stealth, no evade frames. Full core build, including core consumables. I can solo a lot of the level 80 group events both in pve and WvWvW (e.g. take a keep).

It is not just Tyria which is easy, in fact the expansion open world pve maps are easy as well, especially the latest one. In fact I would argue that some of the Orr maps (Tyria) are slightly harder than Secrets of the Obscure, which has tons of large mobs, but the huge-sized enemies do next to no damage: If you have some sort of protection & condi cleanses and heals you will do fine. The difficulty of the expansion maps (HoT, PoF, EoD and SoO) is never combat, but sometimes it is travel. For example I never liked Tangled Depths or most of the other Heart of Thorns maps due excessive vertical design and difficulty in navigation, but the actual combat in those maps is not challenging. You can just AoE nuke all the mobs and ranged pewpew and strafe most of the champions.

And you really don't need mechanist for that. Pretty much anything will do. I was even showing my son how you can steam roll pve content in this game using core elementalist using only core weapons (staff!), core consumables, core everything. I mean you cannot choose anything worse than that?

If I remember right, the Open world map difficulty was tone down after Heart of Thorns for expansions after since the maps was a nightmare for players to move through both due to maze like design and the toughness of enemies either by their high DPS or HP. Remember this was the time before Mounts and we had to use map exploration abilities to get around.

When I was little, my parents raised a pig. It had a name and was sometimes even petted. It was fed only good things. But at some point it was butchered and eaten (it tasted good). That's why my parents kept it in the first place.

When one species sees another as food, there is usually no real friendship between the two.

The fact that there can be exceptions to this rule between individuals and how this develops in a understandable way would be a great story. Unfortunately, that is not the story of SotO. Because then the Wizards Tower, Astral Guard, Isgarren, Eparch etc. wouldn't have as much story time as they already had up to now.

You're using the Demons that feed on Human souls and flesh example with the Pig rather than what I mentioned about how they use to not need to kill humans to gain their food since they only needed to feed on their dreams and emotions which required them to be alive and did not need them to make any direct contact with the humans. As I said they are still demons by nature but a varient that once never needed to harm their food source nor interact with it since they can harvest and feast on their food being Dreams and Emotions by staying in their area of the mist until Eparch arrived and forcefully changed their nature to a direction where they have to directly harm their food source now.

Also, the feeling I get with Peitha and the commander feels more like a person who finds a animal cute rather than a friend. She has not really given me a feeling she wants to be friends, only see the help as something useful in the long run of her own goals since she has use for this little animal.

Being fair, her comment is IIRC that she's never been one for feasting on the flesh, preferring only the emotions/dreams until Cerus who rips and tears.

I think people forget this part too easily about Kryptis culture. Originally before Eparch took over, the Kryptis was a race of demons that feasted only on emotions and dreams so there was no need for them to directly interact with people of Tyria. Just making mental contact and experiencing a mental link through the mist was enough to provide them their "food" being emotions and dreams.

They are still demons by their species but a different variant that had little to no needs to cause direct harm to humans compared to the ones we meet in the past that feasted on human souls and/or flesh of the living since those are a variant of demons that have the need for eating souls and living flesh as food.

Eparch changed that to what it is now where Kryptis started eating each other and living beings from beyond the Mist. Peitha's goal is to get the Kryptis back on their original nature as Demons being the type of Demons that only needed to feast on emotions and dreams while also still being a demon by nature since she is also doing this for personal gain while manipulating the situation so people cannot back down from her deal.

  10. I have no issue with kits as a mechanic but I feel they need to be updated due to the changes we experienced over the years as a result of introducing Elite Specs.

Not to mention they could have introduced new kits to add more into build options such as a Railgun kit, Potion Kit, and etc. Plenty of opportunity I feel the developers never took the chance to explore due to not really knowing what they wanted Engineer to be beyond the original plan to be a Jack of All trades but Master of None design which they moved away from after HoT was introduced due to Elite Specs.

Holosmith is a nice example of a Kit designed to be customizable based on the trait tree. Something I think they could have expanded on in different ways with potential Elite Specs focus on designing a kit that works for the player.

Not to mention a Elite Spec that could have been based on deconstructing Kits so they can using the Kits to upgrade the Main Weapon which could have changed the skills of the Main Weapon based on which Kit the player used. It will have certainly been a lot of work providing a new Main Weapon skill per weapon for each Kit but something I feel was a missed chance to utilize. It also seem like something a Engineer profession person will do as well.

    That's a reference to the reveal/tour stream.

The dev in question had "Kill" command in chat, and accidentally used that instead of emoting kneel or something.  So that cat got a gravestone and "dies" when you interact with it now as a permanent reminder of that goof up :D.

I do enjoy when Developers know when to mock themselves for the sake of it.

  12. only benefit I see for Legendary Relics is that we will save a lot of inventory space since each Relic takes up a single slot if a player focus more on one character as a Main character for most of their content experience.

I think we will need some kind of Relic storage section later down the line if players are trying to manage relic use between multiple characters since as more Relics are added, the demand for more space to store them will increase.

  13. I think it will make a nice Main City hub if they ever make a new Expansion or Living world expansion focused on exploring the Realm of the Gods after they left while dealing with whatever new antagonist has started to invade those areas so this unknown threat does not invae Tyria.

Do you play Elementalist? You know they have 4 attunements and 5 skills, so 20 weapon skills. Weapon swap would add up to 20 more.

If Anet could figure out the Engi weapon swap when no kits are equipped, that'd be cool. But it would be confusing for new players.

I honestly still feel since the base game release of GW2 that the Weapon Swap could have been simply the Kit button for Engineer.  The Kits are literally meant to be Engineer's alt weapons to their main weapon to begin with which is why Kits acts as our "weapon swap"

I know it will limit Engineer to 1 kit if they do but most of the time players are only using 1 kit unless they made a build where they literally play the Engineer like a Piano with multiple kits to switch around in.

But i want to hook people and pull them into mines or something.

    I dunno was cool.

I know I am repeating myself with this comment but I still think this will be better for a wrist launcher theme Elite spec. The grappling hook can be one of the tools for the wrist launcher to pull a enemy close to the player or prevent players from fleeing.

The Elite Spec trait tree may focus on customizing the wrist launcher to be more melee control themed to attack enemies close range and keep them close to you, ranged attack having more skills to help keep your distance and extra attacks from range, or support providing with focus on launching special ammo that provides support functions like buffs and healing depending on how the Wrist Launcher is customized through the Elite Spec tree.

As yes unique, we dont have any kit thats only aoe ground target -cough- grenade, -cough- mortar...

I'm talking about animation wise with the arrows, not gameplay wise.

I know it is similar to grenade and mortar kit but designed to be the "Mine Kit" of the Engineer weapon options. The description for gameplay wise though basically explains they focus more on creating a mine field with the arrows then have them all go off as they "react" to each other based on which order they trigger each other for some kind of different effects. We still need to wait for beta to understand this part.

I already mentioned in other comments that I agree they could have done something more unique with the shortbow's concept for magic storage technology that contains the magical energy of other professions.

The engineer has had those stolen class mechanics since launch. Youu see it in elixir X and the old toss elixir U. This would just be the same minus the randomeness.
Whats unfortunate is that there are certian themes that feel inherently engineery that would be great to expand on, that players now have to migrate to other classes in order to play.
You get the alchemical stuff as harbinger, you get the mechanical GS from warrior, you get interesting pistol advances from all the new pistol weapons.
The idea that engineer cant have an identity of its own and needs to leech off of other classes comes across as really lazy

I think you are confusing certain comments a bit about Engineer access technology that utilize storing magical energy from other Professions with ability mechanics.

Also, Elixir X (along with how Engineer's make their alchemist potion skills) was not magical energy from another profession but a result of Engineer's Science skill to create strange potions that function differently.

Though as I said before, there are many ways they could have handle this magic storage technology a bit more creatively with Engineer such as a Arrow shot that is power by Mesmer magic that with each shot a single arrow also creates multiple illusion arrows with the real arrow for multiple hits on a single hit (which apply a condition per hit), a heavy explosive Holy Arrow made from storing Guardian's offensive flame magic in the arrowhead that explodes on hit which applies large burn stacks and leaves a burn field for a while, a arrow that uses the Thief shadow magic energy to create a ricochet type arrow that bounce around within a single field area placed for a short time that apply bleed and poison every hit a enemy (or enemies) are in the field, and etc.

You mean the proffession built on the concept of building, genius, and creation has developed a method to recreate power through scientific discovery?.

How is this exactly mix and match. While I can agree with some critic written here, no one can say it looks like anytging but a engineer.

You write alot of Weird and made up rubbish to vent at a game lol.

I am more surprised it took Anet this long to give Engineer this technology considering they established it early in GW2 but it was during its infancy stages of creation.

Though I was hoping for Anet to be a bit more creative with Technology that can utilize magical energies from other professions.

Almost decade of forging its own identity and Engineer is back to stealing abilities from other professions.

I honestly expected Engineer to eventually gain the ability to use technology so they can use powers from other professions. Though I also hoped they did a bit more instead of just simple field placement arrows that release the magical energy. The concept been there since GW2 began when they introduced technology that can store magical energy and apply that magical energy to technology.

They certainly could have done far more creative attacks and animation with the Magical energy storage technology concept with shortbow such as the mesmer magical energy arrow when fired would end up splitting into multiple illusion arrows to hit multiple times with the arrow shot, the Guardian magical energy arrow could have been a massive explosive arrow that causes a massive explosion applying a decent amount of burn status stacks while also leaving a field that apply more burn stacks, Necromancer magical energy arrow could have been a type of death cloud field effect that apply poison over time while slowing enemies, and etc. There are obviously more ways they can handle it due to how each profession have different ways to handle their magical energy.

Seriously, I am saddened by this.

While the idea of chain reactions is cool and all, Engineer already has a plethora of support options. Why add another whole weapon dedicated to it?

Where is my batman style gadget shortbow??

WHERE IS MY GRAPPLING HOOK ANET??!?!?!?

I think Grappling hook maybe better for something like a Elite Spec that utilize a wrist launcher as their Elite Spec special ability.

With all new weapons revealed, we can conclude, that Engineer's one has the most negative reception.
But who cares, this will change nothing.

I say it is a bit more unique than certain other professions got but not the most unique.

I expected Tech arrows for a long time when it comes to Bow weapons. I was not expect Tech arrows that contain magic from other professions though. however, this Tech being technology that can absorb and store magic then release them as weapons been around in GW2 for a long time so Engineer was bound to get it some how eventually.

That aside, with Tech Arrow bows out of the way, I am hoping for Daggers, Staff, or Greatsword next.

They literally only play guard in wvw whenever I see Anet devs. They don't want you to play other professions.

As someone who doesn't play engi these days, I can say kitten, this is terrible lmfao!

I mean people can finally live out their dreams to be the Space Marine of GW2 with Pistol on Guardian.

Now back to purging the Heretics! For the Emperor!
