  1. It's getting really annoying having to grind out events in-between story steps. I just want to play the story, I have zero interest in doing map events on maps that I don't even want to play on. it feels like this whole expax is just busy work and is a living world season dressed up as an expac. I think this will probably be the last one I buy unless the story starts to get interesting.

I don't agree with this statement and also with op. I have around 10 gen one legendaries and I don't care if other people have them. Most times I transmute them to nicer skins for fashion, gen 1 weapons are not that exclusive for a long time now.

Starter kit consists of pre and t6 mats, they are bought from tp anyways.

The only lege weapons I feel worth showing off are hard gen2 like Chuka, nevermore, hope because you cannot buy them on tp and even if you buy mats you still need to do a lot to craft them.

Facts, gen one legendry's are not exclusive. and there are enough time gated crap in this game as it is.

I think its really gross that anet has decided to give out a ton of mats for gen 1 legendaries as part of the dailies.  It really devalues what people have, especially veteran players.  Why couldn't you guys just make a new set of legendaries that were easier to make or something and make those components/mats given out with the dailies?  That way the old legendaries that we all worked hard to get arent de-valued.

If you had released a new set of weapons/legendaries and given out the mats to make 1/3 or 1/2 of them as you did the gen 1 legendaries, my opinion would have literally shifted from, "I really hate this" to, "Thats pretty cool, I like this."

Feels like an insult to longtime players.

We said this years ago, it hasn't changed, and it never will.

I don't like this expansion, but I don't hate it either. To me it's just more of the same. I dislike the change to ruins. None of the relics have come close to replacing what was lost on the 6th rune.  I was peeved that, already having the skyscale,  I felt compelled to redo all the masteries and collection gathering. Then I took one look at the list of requirements for the "free" kryptis skyscale skin, and lost all interest in acquiring it.  Will I come back to it later? I don't find it all that attractive, so I don't know if I will.

What I do like is being able to use updrafts and ley lines with my skyscale and griffon. I always thought that they should be able to use those things.

Yeah, I've found no reason to stay on the new maps past 100% exploration. they are hollow and uninteresting. The story didn't even feel complete. Everything about the expansion feels rushed, more so than EoD. Cantha feels completely unexplored and they rushed us on to this one.

  5. The whole expac is poor Imo. The having to "go kill ten rats" in-between story steps just to drag out the story is weak and kills the flow of the story. Not to mention there are really only 2 maps as the 3rd is just a city map. really not worth the money, Imo and has not really added anything "good" to the game just taken things away then then added them back and a new feature like it's some groundbreaking game mechanic.

It feels to me the rushed out SotO. The enemy's are just reskins of existing mobs. counting a city as a map is just laughable(yes its a map, but its a map that nothing really happens on other than races.) so in reality we have 2 playable maps, that are beautiful as always, but the price tag for the expac was not worth it. and it feels like a living world update that I paid for.

Playing right now feels like a chore and unrewarding as I have to play the way ANet wants me to and do the things Anet wants me to. I can't just log in and play, because i  have a list of things I need to do now if I want to get things that i would just get by logging in.

  6. Yeah I'm not a fan on the new system at all. now if I want to go get the items i would have got from the daily log in, I now hand to go and do specific tasks, were as before i could get my login reward, and go do whatever I wanted. Guild Wars 2 has moved so far away from the "play your way" philosophy they had back at launch. Now it's a "play the way we tell you and like it."

You can get gold from the vault.

How i've not seen anything other than the garbage items that i dont like/want from there.

EDIT, never mind I've found it now. The vault is still trash, i mean why is there a bag of 1 gold for 60, then another bag of a 1 gold for 6. makes zero sense.

You can change it to pve only

They guy said, he's no gotten to some places yet, but he's being told to go there for the vault rewards.

TBF the Vault is just bad. there is nothing I want from it, so I'm losing out on thigs that I actually wanted that I could turn into gold for the things I wanted to buy off the TP.

I think this new system could be a big deal for maintaining new players

I think there's a big percentage of new players who quits once they hit lvl 80 and don't know what to do

I feel like that's one of GW2's biggest problems probably, since it works so differently than other MMO's

It's a good way of motivating people to play content

    Giving them direction

    But we'll see

I don't think that. There are loads of things to do if you've just cracked 80, there are 3 expacs, living world etc. Once you've done all the story I'd agree. Dungeons are dead, fractels get old fast, Strike missions are just beefed-up boss fights and raids are just for "hardcore" elitists.

This is exactly the question and seems like they don't want or can't reply right now. Probably not a good sign.

Probably nothing. They want you playing not just logging in getting the rewards and logging off. They want people on everyday playing and buying stuff from the gem store. Not just coming on, playing the new story content then disappearing from months. I know I'm not playing that much. and only really log in once a day, get my rewards then log off. There is currently nothing I wany/haven't already done countless times that I want to do in game.

  11. So ANet is taking away something that works just fine as it is, and replacing it with something that sounds, in my personal opinion, bad. Also saying things will move to another tab but cost more to stop player anxiety of missing out, it just replacing it with, "if i don't get it now, I'll have to work harder to get it.".

How much will they go up by? Are we looking at a sliding scale like BLWT? that go from 1 -5(?) I have to be honest, so far everything about this expac sounds like they are taking a system away changing it up and putting back something different and presenting it as something new.

Yeah, it being available to everyone kinda diminishes the prestige.

About the only benefit you get from having a ten-year old account over a younger one is that your 10 year old toons each get a Proof.

I dunno, I was just expecting something... better.

I've unlocked all the armour pieces, despite the fact that I don't see myself using it anytime soon; it's far too gaudy for my liking. Very Liberace.

It's not even an interesting journey to get the armour; just lowest-effort "Do an existing activity 10 times", "Kill this world boss" and "Play 10 matches of PvP" garbage, with no lore or quest framework.

And add me to the list of disgruntled 10-year old accounts that has successfully avoided playing PvP all these years, only to discover I have to play it if I want the cape.

    Poor form ANet.

On the bright side, I enjoyed the buzz in the community last night. People seemed genuinely excited to be celebrating 10 years and the arrival of our Steam comrades.

Could have done without the lag though 😄

ANet, is there any chance of you adding modern automatic performance adjustments to the game? Like switching to generic models once the local population reaches a certain level, or reducing other details, only for them to snap back when there's less going on?

It would be much appreciated over having to go in to settings and change things manually every time things get busy.

you also get more weapon skins, as your 10 year old toon will get the choice of 2 and you can get an extra 1. to ten your old toons can have a full usable weapon set as long as its a one double handed and 2 single handed.  and combination there of.

The current birthday system doesn't reward loyalty, it simply rewards creating your character at a certain date. Loyalty is rewarded ingame in form of achievement rewards. I don't really care about the skins. I just hope that the dyes will lose their exclusivity one day. I'd really like to have Bubblegum since there really aren't any decent pink dyes apart from Electro Pink (which looks kinda washed out), but I really doubt that GW2 will survive another 5 years.

You know the original guild wars(2005) is still up and running with people actually playing it still. it even had an update a few moths back. so it will have lasted 20 years soon enough. Look at WoW, that's still going, not as popular as it use to be, but clearly covering the cost of running it.

It's 2 skin choices per year >10, not per character - so this weapon set will be the birthday gift for the next 7 years - then again the Luminous Set isn't complete yet for 2 more years either.

One thing to keep in mind though is that they added endlessly pickable Material Bags to these as selection (including the Dye pack), so this might be it in terms of Birthdays.

Or people might not like the skins, so they have given them the option to have mats instead.
