No you really dont its just pof owners dont have to buy hot at all.

Pof at release was 29.99 hot was 20.

2 years later the added hot to pof with no added cost so pof is still 29.99.

So yea noone can buy hot anymore since that aint a thing but your not paying for hot twice.

The email with its wording and the gift was just so that those who bought HoT separately before wouldn't be angry about the bundle discount because they paid more themselves. The email doesn't mean that HoT is a free addition to PoF. If Anet really set the price for HoT at 0, Anet would also "sell" HoT individually for 0 €/$ (more precisely, Anet would give it away for free). But Anet does not do that for good reasons, because the calculated price of HoT is not 0.

It is pure marketing how Anet calls the resulting bundle of "HoT+PoF". Anet has decided to call it "HoT+PoF" on its web/shop page. Both components of the bundle are communicated equally.

It is actually normal and to be expected that a 9-year-old expansion (HoT) and a 7-year-old expansion (PoF) are no longer offered at the original retail price, but only at a significant discount.  This is also the case with this bundle. Based on the presentation in the webshop, a buyer can expect to receive a discount of (roughly) around 50% on the individual components through the bundle.

An example from a different perspective: If I buy a bundle on Steam (for other games), but already have one or more components of the bundle, I am offered the bundle at a reduced price.

However, the fact that owners of HoT cannot buy only the PoF component of the bundle but have to pay a price that equals the original retail price of PoF (no matter how Anet's marketing communicates the bundle, those players already have HoT and therefore only buy the PoF part of the bundle) may be an oversight on Anet's part, but it may also be intentional.

However, it is understandable that those affected by this (I am not affected by it) are not happy about it.

Actually, no. My statements have been clear in my replies. Only the original post can be taken out of context.

It's easy to write texts that you understand yourself. But the message is created by the recipient. You don't seem to understand that.

This is a thread of bad arguments and extremely sensitive people.

At least some. Including the first post.

However, I have also read many good and factual arguments here. But you don't address them and just dismiss them. Which is why the discussion is over for me.

Then they react as if I mean they should strip their armor off, run to the enemy side, and lay down with /sleep to offer up a free bag.

The way you generalize it, that is exactly the impression that can arise from your statements.

The utter immaturity and overly dramatic response is honestly gross.

Or you could think about whether people who disagree with you might not also be right in their views.

I don't think there's another game where players protect their lives more than gw2 wvw.

Well, when I look at the many players who just stupidly run into an enemy group without any brains or sense and then die predictably and needlessly and only do kill feeding, then I dare to doubt it.

The goal of WvW is not to die as quickly and as often as possible, but to kill as many opposing players as possible and to capture or defend objects. And killing opposing players sometimes works better when you are still alive yourself. Of course, sometimes it can also make sense to sacrifice yourself, for example if you jump into a capture circle alone to delay the opponents a bit until your own reinforcements arrive.

Let me write it first before I hear it for the sixth time: "If you die in the game, you die in real life!"

They don't die. They simply go to sleep and wake up at the next WP. 😇

For example, there's an enemy zerg. We fight, some players hang back, not wanting to engage because it will put them at risk. That's a very odd thing to do in this kind of game mode. Is that clearer?

There are many reasons why they stay behind, even if you can only think of one. Not all of them have to have the same reasons. Fear of dying is probably only a reason for some, if any.  In hopeless fights, not giving the enemy any bags/points can also be a reason.

I find them quite creepy actually. They remind me of the Weeping Angels in Doctor Who. They just stand there staring into space, then when you leave your Homestead and return, they've moved, you never see it happen though. 😳

But at least they don't move towards you when you blink. That would be really creepy. 🤓

Ah gee, what possible reason could we have for acquiring multiple precursors?

Well, I can think of several reasons for this. I have already mentioned one of them, but not the only one.

Oh right, there's a highly active player economy, and many players will make two and sell one, obviously.

Standing Stones Timepiece is a back item. There is no market for legendary back items. Because they cannot be sold, just like trinkets and armor. If Anet had wanted to change this principle, they would have already done so with the new legendary armor in SotO.

If you're in the habit of salvaging valuable items, contact support and beg them to return it, but don't act like they planned for you to delete it.

You apparently didn't understand what I wrote because I didn't destroyed it.

Apart from that: There was definitely a case (in the Ice Brood Saga) where many players destroyed an item (a kind-of-precursor, but not for something legendary) that they needed much later in content updates for a collection/weapon. Anet then made the destroyed item purchasable for those who had unlocked the skin. So there has already been a (nearly similar) case like this.

Now I know that the ui (skill facts, content guide, map, etc) use "units" to measure distance, but lore wise, are there any mention of units of measurement?

I have read several times (but can't remember the source) that Anet uses inch units. But of course it's a game and the distances/maps are compressed/shortened etc. and not to scale.

In this case, I think it derives from "OMG" (Oh my God), or just "the end" (Omega), meaning maximized doom? I don't really care. 😆

In case of doubt, there are online dictionaries that help us understand nonsense like "pog", "UwU", "sus" etc. 😂

Yeah, but they are not helping in this case. When I google for "omega doomed" the first search results are pointing to this thread.  🤣

I will remember this expac for giving me a backpack precursor 9 months early when I cant do anything with it, and me salvaging it because I did not realise it was a precursor...

Oh, thanks for the tip. 😉 I was about to recycle the Standing Stones Timepiece without reading it's tooltip text because I already have a legy back item and don't want an exotic one. 🤦‍♂️ But now I'll put it in the bank and then I'll see what nice things I can do with it someday. 😎

BTW: The Tooltip says "Further copies can be purchased in the near future".  So Anet seems to have planned for players to accidentally delete it. Why else would we be able to buy multiple versions of it?

I'm a bit confused by this thread. I#m completing the hearts in Sintri at a pretty rapid rate.

I do the hearts regularly and it seems to me as if the events in the east of Sintri are now spawning much more often (when it's not meta time) than they did a few days ago. When the thread started, the hearts in Sintri took a lot longer.

Currently, the unusual coins from SotO and EoD have already become ancient coins.

I haven't checked, so it's a real question: Were the vendor costs and receipes from SotO and EoD, that required unusual coins back then, also changed to require ancient coins?

Yeah it wouldn't be like an A-team and a B-team, though I'm convinced there were different teams working on different maps during the Living World times.

Yes, during the LW period (at least one season) there were, according to Anet, several teams (I think three) that each worked on one episode. Otherwise the short release times would not have been possible back then.

In any case, I’m not giving a hypothesis. I’m making a philosophical claim, not an scientific one.

If you were interested in a serious philosophical discussion, you would have written that in your first text. You should know that precise language and context are important.

The way you presented yourself, you now appear (to some) to be a troll who is better not fed.

  15. The events "Defend the kodan base from the Mistburned creatures" and "Defend the captive kodan sacrifice" (which you need for achievements) only start every two hours, exactly when the meta event "Of Mists and Monsters" is active.

Players who wait for the two events are missing from the map meta and those who fully participate in the map meta cannot do anything in the two events.

The fact that the events only occur every two hours at the same time as the map meta is such a bad idea, it has to be a bug.

As far as custom definitions: you don't get to ignore established definitions if you are making a custom one just to make a point stick. At least not if you want to get taken serious.

It is not uncommon in philosophy to write an entire book just to discuss a concept or issue from scratch.

And you get bonus points (challenge mode) if you quote as many concepts as possible from other books of exactly the same kind (the references to which you can only understand if you have also read all of these other books). 😉 And I get the feeling that we are involuntarily helping with philosophy homework. 😎

Well you said that you "bought the expansion because I hoped it would be fun to play.

Yes, I play a game in my free time. That's the general term for me. In contrast to work, for example, for which I am paid by my employer. It doesn't matter to me whether the activities in the game that I enjoy are categorized as "play" by you.

    10 minutes ago, Logos.5603 said:

But somethings that you will be doing (quite a bit of things) are not play.

And again my question, which you have not answered yet: Why should your categorization of different activities in GW2 be important and have practical relevance for anyone other than you?
