  1. I'm genuinely curious, how does one deal with a thief that has targeted you? There's no getting away, there's no catching up. If you get them low, they stealth and run away. Do I just pray my teammates are paying attention and can help me deal with the thief?

  2. Everyone casually dropping 5-10k crits when as an ele I usually have 18k hp on the tankier side.

    You have to rely on your abilities to keep you alive rather than raw stats. Even with the tankiest amulet+runes I still die in 2-3 hits from some classes. Earlier a ranger used longbow 4 into longbow 2 while I was at full hp and was able to kill me in the knockback animation(single stun break was on cd). 18.7k hp with the dolyak rune. 

     

  3. Am I crazy? I thought the earth sphere granted resistance when this trait was selected, but now its just protection and aegis. When was this changed? I can't find anything about it in the patch notes

     

    EDIT: SORRY FOLKS i didn't realize this was a pvp only thing. guess i've been in pvp/wvw too much and i tried to pve..

Besides this also a new Strike but thats it. Rest is Just gemstore skins and maybe a new Fractal once a year plus maybe new Strikes per Story Mode.     Yep. Especially with the lack of new content whether it be pvp/pve/wvw. This game is perfect for casual play, years of content to do. Its just like watching a show and waiting an episode a week vs watching a show thats already completed its run. They have no respect for their veteran players, its painfully obvious. And unless you like achievement hunting/living in wvw, you're basically forced to take breaks and come back when there's an update. This game needs more content targeted towards veterans. But that in itself is very hard to accomplish with the kind of game gw2 is. I hope with their new expansion plan they're able to give something more/new to their loyal players.

    Or at least have water 1 and earth 1 be ranged. 

     

    At this point dagger does everything hammer does, but better.

    Its the animation lock that doesnt make sense to me. Why lock us in animation and allow us to move around but limit it to a tiny aoe? I'd rather have it follow the target or have a single spin animation to summon the skill. Though I do agree with everything you said.

  7. I would really like to see Hammer Air 2 function the same was as Dragons tooth: cast it on a target and have it follow them around. If no target is selected it will cast on top of you instead. 

     

    It has a very long animation and small aoe. What are your thoughts about this suggestion?

    but i've said all this before. so i feel like a broken record.

     

    After the next expansion, if speculation is correct about weapons / utilities from E-specs being unlocked for Core... that would offer a lot of close range stuff for Elementalist. I can only hope that future new tools will include ranged (1200+) DPS weapons (not like staff where only 1 element is DPS, 2 elements are CC, and 1 element is full healing / CC support)

     

    there's plenty of GW1 skills with elemental arrows that combined would make a great DPS longbow (preferred 1500 range) where longbow could use staff-like animations for spells that could fill in the gaps of non-arrow skills. Anet has archived my class e-spec brainstorms from the past, "Celestial" was the name of the spec i used, but the longbow was my idea of bringing back those GW1 arrow skills with other elemental spells, like Javelins and certain obsidian earth spells

    I think majority of the ele community wanted longbow to be the weapon for catalyst based off a poll that was taken before the specs were announced. And after that, so many threads asking to redo catalyst after they gave us a preview of it came up as well. 

     

    Im really hoping, if we at least get new weapons, the next weapon will be a longbow. Kind of ridiculous that mesmer has more 1200 range weapons than we do with 10x the potency. Though im sure if they did, it would be as useless as staff simply because we have more skills to use lol.

    I don't really care about the overall performances, the devs already proved that they can just inflate numbers as much as they think is needed to transform lead into gold. No, what really was upseting was the clear lack of originality of the concept.

     

    Especially the ult. As much as I love how cheesy it is, pressing 1 button to reset your skills as an ultimate is the epitome of laziness.

  10. I'd also like to have our water 4 change direction if we retarget. Dunno why all the dagger-dash skills change direction mid target when you've got the option turned on, but water 4 doesn't. This kinda seems like a bug to me. 

  11. what's rough is that there's almost no way to gap close when you land the cc with air 4. If the enemy is 300-600 units away, and you use air 4, you knock them down at that location and blast yourself back 600 units. (assuming the skill works as intended). Now you're 900-1200 units away from your target. If we take a look at our gap closers, we can see that arcane flash is our best bet to get back in range. Assuming it's not up, or we don't have it on our utility bar, the next best thing is to use water 4.. but water 4 only has 600 range and could potentially waste the valuable heal.

     

    I don't think anet made this skill to be an engage skill..

     

    As for our utilities, i'd like to see relentless fire and shattering ice be instant cast. the 1/4 cast time is unnecessary. or maybe make it instant cast if the related jade sphere attribute is deployed? 

     

    I'd like to see hammer 3 skills give us an aura on the first cast of our coil. (only on the first cast, if our coil is already going, then no aura is gained)

     

    I'd like to see the projectile speed increased for air 5, better yet, replace that skill with a 600 range teleport+stun.

  12. The Canthan Noble Skyscales have insanely tiny wings. They're roughly half the size of the original skyscale? I've found a few posts online about this bug, but is this the bug they are talking about or is this how it was intended? The Auspicious Pixiu Skyscale Skin has the same animation as the canthan noble skyscales, but its wings are relatively normal in comparison. 

  13. It would be a buff to spvp, but that game mode is 75% bots lol 

     

    In pve & wvw, removing the energy mechanic would be sooo convenient. I wouldnt have to hit mobs before going into an actual fight just so I can get enough energy to use the spheres at the start of combat. 

     

    They'd also have to rework the trait that gives you energy when swapping attunement.

  14. Hello,

     

    Hammer feels extremely weak, not because of the damage, but because of how easy it is to kite. Here are the reasons why I think it's weak:

     

    1. It requires setup. Unlike dagger/scepter/focus that have instant access to auras, hammer only gain aura's when using a combo field, and we don't get a combo field until we've already been in combat. This means that as soon as the game starts, dagger/scepter/focus is already better than hammer.

    2. Gap close+mobility. Hammer only has 1 gap close ability built in, and that's on water 4.. which is also our heal skill... It has a relatively high cooldown, and covers a short distance.

    3. Easily kited. The combination of a lack of cc, lack of mobility, and extremely short range makes it hilariously easy to kite.  

    4. Hammer 3 skill. This skill's buffs only last 8 seconds, forcing us to constantly swap and use it in a different attunement. 

    suggestions:

     

    increase the duration of hammer 3 buffs from 8 to 10/12

    increase air hammer 1 range from 600-900

    increase hammer 3 (grand finale) projectile range from 600-900 & increase projectile speed

    lower the cd or increase the aoe of earth hammer 5

    give us an aura only on the first hammer 3 skill we cast. Aura will be based on attunement.

     

    Augment suggestions:

    Relentless fire + shattering ice need to be instant cast like invigorating air. 

     

    On another note, why is lightning flash a discount mesmer blink? Longer cooldown, shorter distance, and no stun break..? all for a measly 800 damage if it crits? 

     

    I am also accepting tips on how to better play hammer catalyst. As of now, hammer seems like its only meant for pve.
