How do we actually get the legends' power ?

Like do we simply go in the mist and just ask to borrow their power ? Or do we take them by force or through deals

 

And again how do we find those Legend in the mist ? Are there beaten path (Made by previous Revenant or Mist traveller) Or do those Legends have such a will power that they are "easy" to locate

 

Does each Expec entail our revenant just going in the mist, choosing a direction and running until we find a new "domain" from whom we can take power ?

Revenants supposedly channel the memories of the Mists concerning specific historical events and draw on that magic.

Originally, Revenants had nothing to do with the actual people the legends are about.
