firedragon.8953
Another banner idea I'm gonna just drop here because talking about banners is more fun than playing them. Based on random stuff I've read and just daydreaming while I afk in mistlock... Banners can be dropped at range providing a one time unique situational boon (stability, etc.) or effect (rez) plus quick for 4 seconds (if we're really going to follow through core quickness) and pulsing boons (regeneration, etc.) for 90 seconds. Within 90 seconds banners can be picked up and mounted on the warrior's back (we'll need some new art assets) for the remaining duration. Banners cannot be placed back on the ground after mounting to your back. While mounted, banner utility keys becomes active, and using the active banner skill (Wave Banner? [no cast time]) applies quickness for 4 seconds while continuing to pulse their respective boon (regeneration, etc.). This would mean a quick warrior would have to take 3 banners with Double Standards to provide 18 sec. of quick for every 20 sec. recharge time (cool down). This seems like a fair tradeoff considering that no utilities like power signet (direct dps loss) or skills that prolong berserk mode (direct dps loss) could be taken. Concentration gear (Diviner's, Harrier's, Minstrils, etc.) could be slotted and/or used in conjunction with Tactics trainline (Martial Cadence) to extend this further providing a more viable support orientated spellbreaker builds using warhorn too (see below, Martial Cadence).Banners Banner of Strength Grants vigor & quickness on initial placement, then pulses might (5 stacks) to you and nearby allies afterward. Can be picked up and carried on back gaining access to on-demand quickness (20 sec recharge) and pulsing might (5 stacks) to you and nearby allies afterward. Banner of Discipline Grants resolution & quickness on initial placement, then pulses fury to you and nearby allies afterward. Can be picked up and carried on back gaining access to on-demand quickness (20 sec recharge) and pulsing fury to you and nearby allies afterward. Banner of Defense Grants protection & quickness on initial placement, then pulses resistance to you and nearby allies afterward. Can be picked up and carried on back gaining access to on-demand quickness and pulsing resistance to you and nearby allies afterward. Banner of Tactics Grants stability & quickness on initial placement, then pulses regeneration to you and nearby allies afterward. Can be picked up and carried on back gaining access to on-demand quickness and pulsing regeneration to you and nearby allies afterward. Battle Standard (Duration: 60 min, Recharge: 120 min) Revives fallen allies and finishes downed foes on initial placement, then pulses fury, might (5 stacks), swiftness to allies. Can be picked up and carried on back gaining access to on demand STABIBILITY (20 sec recharge) and pulsing fury, might (5 stacks), swiftness to you and nearby allies afterward. TraitsDouble Standards - Like it is now, increases boon duration (50%). This means both one time situation boons, quickness, and pulsing boons. This basically works similar to the current druid implementation but allows initial boons to be given from range, while increasing warrior utility (long overdue). It also gives us access to group stability (Tactics and Battle Standard) which is important for groups, and even more so now with the fractal instability changes (looking at you social awkwardness). How to space out banner drops, when to drop banners based on mechanics, etc. feels much more engaging than any banner variant we've had so far.Tactics's Martial Cadence just isn't good, especially since it directly conflicts with shout-heal support, making it impossible to have a viable shout-heal quickness warrior who needs to be replacing banners with shouts. I suggest switching Martial Cadence and Warrior's Cunning in the Tactics traitline. This would hypothetically make something like a Harrier's (concentration) quick shout warrior viable. Allowing the warrior to bring 2 shouts, 1 banner (likely Tactics [regen]) and warhorn, to help fill out quick uptime in conjunction with hitting a quick-expelling burst every 10 seconds with Soldier's Focus. NOW get this! This would leave enough flexibility for a future elite spec that is given an actual support/healing weapon (staff please!). They could even make it so that that future spec makes banners and soldier focus change from giving quick to giving alacrity. firedragon.8953
https://imgur.com/RsqJBvw This is a VERY ROUGH concept of how banners could possibly be mounted on the back. Basically when picking up one banner, a banner such as the one is shown in the image appears on the warrior's back. Upon picking up multiple banners, rather than getting multiple banners on your back (would be pretty cluttered with four banners [3 utilities + elite]) the symbol for the respective banner appears on the back-mounted banner's canvas.
