During the beta testing, are we able to keep mats harvested?

You get access to Turtle mount even when haven't unlocked it, so it is possible to test what that mount does. But the real issue is that you can't use Jade Bot (it is not possible to transfer from non-beta character to beta [which means no trading; no email; no bank or Shared Inventory] or even do story  to get Power Core on beta character) which make it less useful to test beta in EoD maps which have a lot of things that you need to have a Power Core equipped to be able to use even when your normal character have unlocked all EoD Mastery with exception for Turtle mount.

This "test" is more a demo as it is only limited to show off weapon can be equipped and used in WvW and OW (but here you have to also look at scaling depending on level for map; level 80 maps, especially might also have other map effect that have an impact on how much damage one will do like in IBS maps with their mastery that provides buffs for you and condition on target).

Beta character right now have too much of limitation as to be of any use for how the future changes with Relics also with impact and the synergy from traits is still tied to weapon and specialisation.

OP save your time and play on your normal characters if you want to farm anything that you want to keep like Gold, Mats, any of map or WvW currencies that exist or XP (incl WXP for WvW). All this will be removed and gone when you get back to your normal character.

The experience you get from playing around with the new weapon mastery is also rather limited as there are other factors like changes to how Runes will work (with Relic - we know that this will change soon; so not much point to use the "old" system with today's Rune as those also need to be changed for what kind of attributes we can get and how those bonus for 6th will be replaced), how Traits is still tied to a weapon if you use specialisation (which again will be tied to access to your heal skill, elite and utility that are bound to specialisation).

For this to work traits need to be general and independent on weapon and instead focus on support role or DPS role and not be tied to any kind of specialisation and still keep power creep in check.
