Decorations should focus on expanding existing sets in Janthir Wilds.

Recommended Posts

Festivals within GW2 have expanded guild hall decoration sets every year in increments of 3 or so. This makes it easier to craft things like winter wonderlands and Super Adventure Box landsapes! The sets for festivals get bigger and bigger, which is great for filling in areas that may seem lackluster. A person could probably make an entire homestead with nothing but SAB pieces, once we get around to SAB season in Janthir Wilds. I hope that they continue to expand these sets!

The less festive sets do not really have this benefit. We get several sets of pieces that work together at the launch of an expansion. There have been times when festivals have expanded upon certain themes, such as this year's Festival of the Four Winds. Sets of decorations that follow a theme from an expansion usually end where they begin. There are decorations from the launch of the guild hall feature that we can't really work with, because nothing in the decorations panel really matches them.

Many pieces that could've been pieces in guild halls were never added. They exist out in the game world somewhere. They were too bulky to work with as decorations, since we lacked the tools to sink them into the ground or rotate them to the terrain properly. I suggest taking the time to go back and add onto existing sets throughout the Janthir Wilds expansion! Foundations, stairs, walls, entryways, fences, etc. We've got so much in the game that we simply aren't permitted to use!

For the developers, it might be useful to list some example sets of objects which we lack of as decorations.

  • Tyrian Human Themes
    • Ascalonian - Human ruins. Found everywhere in the game, but we only have pillars. Used everywhere by ArenaNet. Ascalon City Ruins, the PvP Lobby, and Blistering Undercoft are a few of my favorite examples.
    • Old Lion's Arch - Many of the decorations are from the old version Lion's Arch. Things like fountains, planters, and statues. Tour it and you'll find many different foundation pieces, ramps, stairs, and bridges that we don't have! They look really easy to work with too! These pieces are sometimes found in WvW maps and other areas that use lots of stone, since they match other stone objects sets so well.
  • Elonian Themes
    • Sandstone - Just pillars for now, even though we have a few sandstone areas in the game. Check out Osprey's Palace.
    • Elonian - These sets have some neat pieces, such as tabletop decorations and windmills. The pillars and statues (praise Joko) are lonely without foundations or walls. Elonian themed structures were used throughout all of Path of Fire. The Garden of Seborhin has many pieces used in creating Elonian structures.
  • Maguuman Themes
    • Worn - Generic ruin pieces. Usually found in Maguuma maps, because they are covered in moss. Just pillars at the moment. Places such as Obsidian Sanctum and Saltflood Mire have good pieces. There are rougher mossy ruin pieces at locations such as Fort Cadence.
    • Gold - Some pillars. A wall. This is despite there being a city of gold made of gold assets! Check out Guilded Hollow. Lots of foundations and stair pieces that are not decorations.

Have any other decoration pieces that you wish had more of to their existing sets? Go ahead and list them out along with examples of their locations out in the game world!
