Constantly Crashing Post PoF - Doesn't Matter Where I Am! D:

Recommended Posts

So after the PoF launch, i've begun crashing; something i've never experienced with GW2 before! I've tried updating everything, checking my computers drivers, even uninstalling and re-installing the game; still nothing! :< Does anyone know what's going on with this, because i don't; the only reference to it i can find is from a year ago.... :/

That is not a helpful comment. Trivially, I'm also running on Windows 10, and not experiencing any GW2 crashes during play. So, we can eliminate the "Windows 10 <=> crashes" association there, or at least extend it to "Windows 10 and 'unknown additional cause'".

Running windows 10 is not the main problem here. The culprit is the updates, more specifically the version of windows you are running on can break or fix anything. I read on many places that running windows version prior to the April update is the most stable one. (game errors mostly come due to poor windows updates with bugs that break drivers and corrupt many things, thus requiring a security fix or update to mend the problem)

This. Microsoft is abusing their users as beta testers instead of testing new versions of Win X themselves before distributing them as "final versions". I really hope there will be a Windows XI that reverses this new method of Windows distributions.

Anyway, I assume support will have asked for people's system specs, and I recommend you guys always post them here along with your questions if you are expecting help from other players. Otherwise I have only "helpful" comments like my previous one for you. ;)

This is why I always wait a month or two(or how long it takes for Microsoft to announce the bugs in a particular update and the date that the fix will come out)

I also wish Microsoft wouldn't treat thir customers like lab rats. But it helps to know that there are two types of updates "feature updates" and "security updates" the former contains updates that bring visual improvements or features to the interface,

the latter are updates that deal with security issues among others like bugs or problems like we often encounter here like windows 10 crashing gw2 or getting blue screen of death without any reason.

Anyways what I'm trying to get at is that if you are running windows 10 then be aware of the updates, they are both a blessing and a curse upon gw2.

May the six gods watch over you all.

Actually, they ask for volunteers to do that too, but even when they do ... problems still show up. The sad truth is that when you have literally hundreds of millions of users, nobody can catch all the problems before it gets out to general release. Even if the problem is literally one in a million, that is still three hundred people in the USA alone, right?
