Bug with purchasing racing scarf

Recommended Posts

So the racing scarfs can be purchased in the Tp, and me and my outfits and me being very picky about my fashion (Fashions Wars Picker here) I wanted to buy the normal racing scarf for 79 gold, I was thrilled to learn that I could purchase this due to be not being interested in beetle racing.

But I click on it and it started loading infinitely and I even left it on overnight and to no avail it didnt load at all! Please I want this scarf and idk if this is an issue to others too.

It's not a bug I'm afraid. From what I gather, the scarf was never meant to be able to be sold on the TP. Anet rectified this by making it so players can't complete the purchase (via the endless loading you experienced). My understanding is that Anet can't delete them (someone please chime in if I'm wrong), only sellers can remove their respective scarf listing, and so until that happens they'll appear on the TP indefinitely.

It's just not cost effective for them to do so, so they choose not to.(Removing listings turns out to be more complicated than most of us think. It's not that hard to write a script to do it; it's the testing to make sure the script doesn't do anything else that drives up the cost. Easier to adjust one variable on six items then try to adjust ~1000 TP sell offers.)

I didn't know that, it makes much more sense. Thank you for clarifying. :)

  • 3 years later...

My friend tried to buy one yesterday and pointed out the bug to me. Don't really care if it is "hard to remove from the trading post" it should be removed if it can't be purchased. Also, ArenaNet failing to code properly in the first place is what got the scarfs in the trading post in the first place.

P.S. Can't wait to play EOD when I get home!!!!
