[Tinfoil And Speculation] The Commander, The Dragon, The Future

This is a rather hypothetical idea of the story but what if this entire story is meant to be a build up to something even more tragic than simply the death of your favorate dragon and friends.

The Commander, has fought for over 7 years now, without a break, to fight off and defeat the Dragons. You have killed Zhaitan, Mordremoth, been told destroying Dragons is bad, and yet been frustrated when gods try to do it. Killed a god, killed an undead demi-god and killed your way through many foes to try to defeat your latest, the one that helped Destinies Edge make their legend iconic.

And yet, there is a hollow taste in your mouth. How many did you loose on that road, how many more will you loose?

Through the tears, the pain, the rage there may come a point when even the best of heroes must start to consider...

How far, would they go to end this war?

So, hear me out, from battle to battle you have had close friends who lived, and died to see those that threatened to destroy or conquer tyria defeated. Your a bitter, broken champion who has just lost the scion and has become left with only one real choice.

You are forced to create a new world.

We have had warnings, teasers, possible indications of what that world might look like, magic without dragons to balance it, civilisations too powerful, world wars fought between races.

Gods, fighting gods, and leaving scars on worlds they left behind.

But maybe that is because they too had the inevitable fate you now suffer from, you, the hero, are at a crossroad where moral compramise and good and evil become blurred lines. You cant afford to play this by the ethical rulebook anymore, you need to do what ever, it, takes, to win this war.

And maybe thats the dark truth behind this entire saga.

The Commander, is a fallen hero, destined to fall into malice.

How many more will you let die if you are not prepared to take necessary measures to prevent it? How many more acts will you ignore until you slam your fist down and start forcing the world to obey you, or die.

You need a win, any win, and the Dragons aernt going anywhere until you crush them.

Maybe Balthazar had a point, maybe Joko had a point, maybe he was trying to save the world from you.

And he failed.

Doubt it. That would turn a lot of people off the story way more than killing off [REDACTED]. The PC might be somewhat written as Arenanet's hero, but they start off as the player's hero, with a decent amount of customization of looks and backstory and so on. If Arenanet diverges too far from what players can envision their characters doing, then they'll regard the rest of the story as official fanfiction. And since story and story-related maps are the main form of content Arenanet is providing, RIP game.
